St. Louis. It's a wonderful place to live...whether you're a vampire, were-animal, human, or anything in between.
In the pre-dawn hours, you are all startled when you enter Jean Claude's dining hall under the Circus of the Damned. You see Anita Blake- necromancer, legal vampire hunter, and the Master of the City's (Jean Claude's) girlfriend- in a heap on the floor. You look around, but Jean Claude is no where to be found. Concerned, half of you rush to his chambers while the other half stay with Anita. Jean Claude is lying in his bed, obviously weakened. He tells you that some one attacked Anita metaphysically, and he is expending great energy to keep her alive. His power will not hold out forever, and he begs you to find those responsible.

Absolutionis’ list is a very good guide for what roles you can expect in any newbie game.
GOLDEN RULES:
(i.e., the things that apply to every game of mafia.)
Do not discuss this game outside the thread with anyone. Not your friends, not your mother, not another forum member who isn’t playing, not a dead player, not a living player while you’re dead. No one. The only exceptions are me and whatever is instructed in your role PM. This applies to any game in progress; don’t talk about other running games in this one, even if you aren’t playing in that one.
Do not quote any PMs from me.
Do not edit or delete your posts.
Do not lurk. You must maintain a reasonable level of active participation in the game. We understand that life gets in the way of mafia. However, please respect the other players by keeping us informed. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 72-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread or PM the mod. If you feel unable to continue to play the game at the commitment level expected, request to be replaced.
Make your votes in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it may not be counted. Please be attentive and unvote (in bold), if necessary, before casting a new vote. If you do not unvote first, your new vote may not be counted.
Ask the moderator, me, if you are unsure about anything. If you post a request of the moderator in the thread, please bold it.
Other Rules You Should Know:
Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a lynch threshold has been reached nothing can undo it. You may continue to post until night.
You may Vote: No Lynch
If a deadline is reached with no majority, the day will end without a lynch. Deadlines will be set at moderator discretion.
Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. A simple “Bah” post containing no relevant information is acceptable.
If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. If I don’t receive your choice, nothing will happen.
I've seen individual games that specify that confirmations are required or that the thread is going to start with a No Kill Night Phase 0 until everyone confirms, but there was nothing like that in the Mod's opening post. Therefore, I concluded that we're hitting the ground running.
That's a bunch of votes for one person on page 2. Smells like scum to me.
Well I was thinking that a scum may try to jump on an early "random vote" style bandwagon, Ace only has 4 votes. Its 7 to lynch. So, if a scum was on him they would have to convice other people to vote for him. I believe that there most likley is a scum already on ace. My guess would be SeraphPrime. He was the 4th to put a random vote on Ace, and while not putting him in immediate danger, does make it easier for a quick lynch on page three.
I really don't like random vote lynches. In fact, I don't think I ever played a game where there was a random vote lynch. But then again, all my beginner games only had 9 players, so it only took 5 to lynch on D1. And when a person got close to being lynched, most of the people who jumped on the bandwagon jumped off.
In other news, has everyone who is playing confirmed?

This actually makes some sense. The first few random votes are acceptable, but there is no real reason to switch votes - unless you are looking for a quick lynch should another few (and your scum buddies) jump on the bandwagon.
Well, most of the time from my small experience, after the 3rd or 4th person to hop on the bandwagon for voting someone on day one usually gets called out for jumping on the bandwagon yet other people get ignored for hopping on the same bandwagon. It's kind of early to tell who are the scums... Although, I hardly could say that a 4th random vote on the same person could be rarely be really a random vote. My vote still stands.
My main concern regarding Seraph was brought up by Ace:

If seraph intended to vote ace as a joke, why not just do what The Fallen One did:

The fact that Ace wants our money is pretty scummy, that and seems like the kind of guy that could be a demon.
He made a comment on ace's money grubbing tech, that I assume has no bearing on the game at all, but did not vote for him.
Now I realize putting Ace at L-3 is not the same as L-2 or -1 where a quick lynch becomes more possible, but ATM it is all we have to go on.
Unvote. Guys this is my first game of mafia...EVER...so I had not much idea about the "joke" voting phase. Sorry to arouse suspicion, but does anyone think that it's suspicious that Ace happened to have an exit strategy for getting a few quick votes? My switch vote was made as a joke about the fact that he wanted money...guess I'm the only one that found it funny.

unvote I got lynched in my first mafia game for doing what you did, so I can relate. Now I am at an impasse, Seraph has recieved my "get out of lynch free" card... for the moment at least. ungulateman's 3rd vote on ace seems innocent enough. as for ace having a quick exit strategy, what do you mean? Rook mentiond that ace had quite a few votes, then I agreed with him, then ace agreed with me.

Either you are newbish - or you're trying to direct attention on me, off yourself and onto others on the bandwagon.
Jokes may be funny, but the voting is quite serious and allows for mishaps to occur for town if abused.
My vote stands just because it doesn't really matter, but I'm keeping my eye on Ace, just because.
Seraph Prim is going for the old, "I'm new guys, I got no idea what I'm doing" excuse that I've seen, he could be a great player or actually a newb, not sure on that but it seems scummy.
Ok, so lynch me. Here I'll draw all attention onto myself. I'm still going to watch this thread so that I can see how to play so that when I get my second game I'll learn from my mistakes.

this is pretty much what I said in my first game of mafia. It is really easy to get butt-hurt in your first few games.Just don't take it personally and try to move on.

I thought I was being subtle about it, but I guess everyone has me painted as scum. Who knows, but methinks after everyone kills me you should keep an eye on ace and pyrodwarf. The seem to have targeted me very quickly with an exit strategy as soon as Ace was close to being lynched...anyhoose.
Vote Ace. At least someone should vote for real scum.
