FNM Holiday Promotion

I didn't see this anywhere, but if it's there feel free to delete this.
From the latest Magic Player Rewards newsletter:

"Play Friday Night Magic Get a Promo Card

November 14th December 12th

Forge your destiny! Play Shards of Alara in at least two FNM tournaments between November 14th and December 12th, 2008 and receive one Hypnotic Specter* promo card in your next MPR mailing!

Magic Player Rewards is a free program that rewards DCImembers for their participation in sanctioned Magic: The Gathering tournaments with never-before-seen textless spells.

All registered MPR members, with up-to-date mailing information on file, are welcome to participate. FNM results will be reported to the DCI by all Tournament Organizers on or before December 18, 2008**."

The picture of the card isn't loading but I'm assuming it's leftovers of the previous promo Hippy. Kind of cool though that they are trying to do special things involving promos though.

Edit: According to Dauphin the image is of the old promo. Picture attached.

Since its for the holidays, maybe theyre going for some 'ghost of chistmas past' motiff, in which case old art hyppy would be very appropriate

I also got this email, but was wondering about a couple things...
1. What do they mean by playing "Shards of Alara"?
2. If a place you go to has sanctioned Friday Night tourneys, but they aren't titled FNM's this month (they didn't register in time to get the cards) will that still count?

what does "play shards of alara" mean? you must play a draft? or you have to go simply to 2 FNM?

1. Because these are leftover foils from a few years ago when Hippie was first reprinted
2. It's the better artwork
3. Even if you don't personally agree it's the better artwork, people tend to like original artwork, especially on promo cards like Hippie, Kird Ape, Icy Manipulator, and Juggernaut which are difficult to find with the original art and black borders.
