So I still have quite some time before I will be able to order cards again, but I think I ran into the kind of general that I think would make an interesting game.
The idea: Use just about every single legendary creature and artifact to get me a ridiculous amount of card advantage. Theoretically, even if somebody wipes the board, I just need to get Reki into play and so long as I have a few creatures in hand, I can recover indefinitely.
The deck sounds pretty simple, lets start by thowing anything legendary or card advantage-ey in one pile.
Right, some good looking cards in there. Sasaya might actually flip, due to the assumption that lands would start to accumulate in my hand after playing so many creatures, and having that much mana can only make me go that much faster.
Looking at the list, I see six playable snakes, which I guess isn't bad because they all have non-tribal abilities as well. I see ten playable spirits, and two that aren't worth it unless I see lots of the other ten.
I see nine early drops at 2-3 cmc (plus one from my general, plus one that is prohibitively expensive), Fourteen mid drops at 4-5 cmc (plus one probably useless card and two prohibitively expensive cards), and eighteen late game bombs, with one being sub-par.
Of this, there's a large number of cards that seem to be very useful, but I'm sure my slots are starting to run out. Refresh, Dosan's Oldest Chant, and Lace with Moonglove seem pretty neat, though
Finally, non-cantripping spells that are either too useful to leave out, or accelerate extremely well.
Medallion and key are pretty obvious; if I am playing more than one spell a turn, their acceleration is more beneficial. If I play four spells a turn, they're four times more useful than a one-for-one accelerant. Hunting Pack operates under the assumption that I have boatloads of mana and can at least get four or five storm copies... Don't know if its possible in practice, though. Savage conception, again, operating under the assumption that I have boatloads of mana, this time with no spells to play. Better to pitch my fist full of lands, I say.
If your group allows off color fetches like mine does, iw ould run ALL of the green based ones (grasslands, wooded foothills, windswept heath, bant, naya and jund panorama, i forget the RG mirage fetch) just to thin your deck out.
I've been doing some goldfishing with the deck on Apprentice, looks good so far.
I have noticed that I usually get around six or so creatures out before my hand starts to look a little land heavy, so I should probably put somewhat of a focus on getting Sasaya out; its surprisingly easy to get seven lands in my hand with this.
Fetch lands are a good idea, but I'm a budget gamer so the onslaught rares are way too expensive just to thin my deck a little. I will probably cut some of the less than useful nonbasics, as I find I have enough effects that count my forests that I should focus on getting mostly them into play.
edit--I just realized Ground Seal isn't so good in this deck because it prevents me from recurring things. Any thoughts for cantripping graveyard hate? Relic of Progenitus?
Edit 2--Removed Hunting Pack for Tatsumasa, The Dragon's Fang. I found that when I had enough mana to get lots of storm copies of Hunting Pack, I didn't have enough cantrips in hand to get it to work well.
Update! Turns out, Chinese Portal 3k cards are relatively cheap here in Japan, so I think I can actually include those three cards with this deck. also made room for the Kaldra set, and replaced those useless lands with thinning lands. Also tried to make room for Gauntlet of Power.
I think the deck is pretty close to ready for order. Again, suggestions are always welcome.
I would use some powerful equipments in here such as lightning greaves, loxodon warhammer, etc. They are almost always useful no matter what, especially the greaves.

Thanks to spiderboy4 at High~Light Studios for the awesome banner and avvy!
Perhaps you should try Tangleroot it'll help you play through your deck faster.
Wow, that's another great piece of acceleration
As for Sinz's suggestions... I know a lot of those are considered EDH staples, but many of them are either to expensive or detract from the whole theme of the deck, which is to have a fist full of creature cards late game after multiple wrath effects destroys everybody else's hands.
Though if you can think of cantripping graveyard hate that doesn't hit my own, that would be greatly appreciated.
How much control should I use? I have a four or five cards that deal with artifacts and/or enchantments, but maybe I don't need to worry about having so many because I will be digging through my deck as I play.
ok. At least get a survival of the fittest tool box in there. It is the best thing green has.
Survival of the Fittest
Eternal witness
Genesis
Indrik Stomphower
Wickerbough Elder
You really need to find a spot for Gaea's Cradle though. Just take a forest for it. Gaea's cradle is probably the best land in the format. (when it isn't getting raped by wasteland/strip mine)
Anyway, Probably yes to survival of the fittest (also a tad spendy, unfortunately), Stomphowler seems not as useful as the wickerbough elder, and I want to keep the number of nonlegendary creatures to a minimum.
So I'm looking at...
+ Tangleroot
+ Wickerbough Elder
+ Survival of the Fittest
+ Genesis
What could I take out?
- Repopulate? I guess I don't need it so much if I have Hua Tuo, Honored Physician and a bunch of cards that pull things from my graveyard to my hand.
- Gaea's Blessing? Same as above, but I also lose the mill protection. Is it common to see in EDH?
Relic of Proginus is my only graveyard hating card, but I don't know how important it is to have something like it.
Cards like Lace with Moonglove and Wildsize could be useful to get rid of my opponents creatures, though without having actually played this deck, I can't be certain. Thoughts anybody?
And of course, I can always take out more land... In my experience, if I can hit three lands, I can plow through my whole deck. I just need to be able to play a few cantrips and I will not miss my land drops.
Also Untaidake, the Cloud Keeper is a good idea, but in my goldfishings, even though I am running only three basic land counting acceleration effects, I would usually draw one because of how much I am drawing.
In personal Experience, I use Indrik more than I use Wickerbough elder, dunno why. I just do, however I really recommend having both in the deck, just incase you don't have 8 mana(genesis+ wickerboughs) so you can do it much more easily.
Survival is just a repeatable tutor, which is why it rapes.
Made a few minor changes, mostly took out a few things, and added in more non-cantripping spells. Abundance should kick major ass, because I never run low on gas again using that card with this deck, Tangleroot gives mana for each creature I play, effectively making it a medallion or a cloud key (and who knows, some players might take manaburn from it), and Vernal Bloom gives me lots of mana, like the other ones like it.
Still wondering if Relic of Progenitus is the best choice to hate on graveyards, wonder if I will run into many mill combos in EDH to make Gaea's Blessing useful, and if there are any other cards out there that can help me out if I run into too many lands while running through my deck.
Pretty good list so far. I've played monogreen but not in highlander. the legendary theme is hilarious, especially Time of Need. take my advice for what you will, but i would switch Gaea's Blessing with Feldon's Cane because it seems a stronger one-time effect, plus it is useable in any deck regardless of color. If opponents are successfully milling u, though, blessing might be the stronger option.
Also, i think your cantrips are a little unnecessary in my opinion. Some are good, but going as far and Dosan's Oldest Chant and Lace with Moonglove seem rather weak. Could you find better card draw in artifacts, like Candles of Leng and Jayemdae Tome? These are rather cheap i bet, but take a look for yourself. the candles are rather useful in this format (FINALLY!), because other than basics it WILL hit something new. Alright, there's my two cents. gl

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
-C.S. Lewis
The thing I don't like about the card drawing artifacts is, I would much rather just put a legendary card in its place. All told, it takes six mana to get Candles of Leng into play and tap it for a draw. Or, I could pay six mana for Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang, draw a card, and then equip it to make one of my creatures huge. Unless I run into all my mana acceleration (not neccesarily bad) or a huge mana pocket, from my experience in goldfishing, there is never a time when I have to worry about my hand.
As for the cantrips, I guess Wildsize is a little weak for the format, but I still think that Refresh and Lace with Moonglove can prove very valuable in combat... Or maybe I just want to tap out every turn and play nothing but creatures anyway. Dunno what else I can use that cantrips or is legendary, though, as my primary concern with this deck is to make sure I almost always have something to play. I decided to use Dosan's Oldest Chant, though, because it is only five mana, and you never know when you could use some life to keep you in the game longer. If I have better things to play, I won't play it until my life gets low. If I don't, I'll play it and probably draw something better.
so, ousting Wildsize, and maybe Lace with Moonglove. Suggestions for cantrips they should replace? (I think I am hitting my limit for non cantripping spells)
edit--actually, Skyship Weatherlight looks like it can be an amazing card for fetching my lategame win conditions if I just search for one card... Namely, Akroma's Memorial (its the only thing that can search it out), or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. Eight mana to draw two cards, one of them I seached for, sounds like a good deal to me, even if it is a one shot thing.
edit2--Do you think it is worth it to put in Beacon of Creation in order to make my deck 100% mill proof? With just Blessing, I am looking at two turns before I die if I am milled with it in my hand, even less if I play one of the cards it gets for me (which is probably a win condition, so I might want to do that). But with Beacon in my library, I can pull it out after being milled if I have Gaea's Blessing in hand, meaning a counterspell is the only thing that can cause me to be milled after that.
I envision Repopulate more as a recursion hoser than something you'd target yourself with.
I actually use Lace with Moonglove in my mono-G decks as removal. Along with Provoke, Thornweald Archer, Predator Flagship and whatever the GGG SHA sorcery is called.
Rather than use Reki as your general, I recommend using Captain Sisay. That way, you can then search your library for Reki, and then for other Legendary cards every turn, ensuring that you keep playing Legends and drawing cards. This will also let you play white, which has access to removal.

Top 8 PTQ San Diego 2009
9th place Maryland 2009's
So my friends have been getting me back into EDH (we have a pretty cool format right now, mono-colored generals only). I have tuned the deck pretty well (still no survival of the fittest, though. I hate shelling out the cash), but I am still wondering if there is more that can be done here.
I have actually had to take some of the focus away from the general because with my general in play, I generate so much card advantage that even +7 cards can run people down to the tens of life before the lategame gets rolling. So people kill my general. A lot. As a result I needed a few good cards to play that aren't legendary so that I don't always feel compelled to play my general every turn (on the bright side, this becomes a nearly unbeatable measuring stick for the kind of removal my opponents are packing... If I get to untap with him in play, they're out!)
Reki, the History of Kamigawa
The idea: Use just about every single legendary creature and artifact to get me a ridiculous amount of card advantage. Theoretically, even if somebody wipes the board, I just need to get Reki into play and so long as I have a few creatures in hand, I can recover indefinitely.
The deck sounds pretty simple, lets start by thowing anything legendary or card advantage-ey in one pile.
1 Autumn Willow (cutable)
1 Ayumi, the Last Visitor
1 Azusa, Lost but Seeking
1 Baru, Fist of Krosa
1 Bounteous Kirin (maybe overcosted, but I could possibly see at least one spirit with how many cards I will be seeing)
1 Dosan the Falling Leaf
1 Eldamri, Lord of Leaves (a little expensive, I don't want to get it if I can avoid it)
1 Glissa Sunseeker
1 Hua Tuo, Honored Physician (yeah right, I wish I could afford it)
1 Iname, Life Aspect (I don't see myself having enough spirits for this to be useful)
1 Isao, Enlightened Bushi
1 Iwamori of the Open Fist (5/5 trampling HUMAN. Love it)
1 Jedit Ojanen of Efrava
1 Jorael, Empress of Beasts
1 Jugan, the Rising Star
1 Kamahl, Fist of Krosa
1 Kaysa
1 Kodama of the Center Tree (probably a 5 cost 1/1 most of the time)
1 Kodama of the North Tree
1 Kodama of the South Tree (well it's still a 4/4 for 4)
1 Lady Zhurong, Warrior Queen (again, I wish I could afford it)
1 Masumaro, First to Live
1 Meng Huo, Barbarian King (too expensive)
1 Mirri, Cat Warrior
1 Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer
1 Multani, Maro-Sorcerer
1 Myojin of Life's Web
1 Nemata, Grove Guardian
1 Patron of the Orochi
1 Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary (spendy, but probably worth it)
1 Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro
1 Sakiko, Mother of Summer
1 Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant
1 Sekki, Season's Guide
1 Seshiro the Anointed
1 Seton, Krosan Protector
1 Shisato, Whispering Hunter (don't have enough snakes for him to be worth it)
1 Shizuko, Caller of Autumn
1 Silvos, Rogue Elemental
1 Sosuke, Son of Seshiro
1 Thriss, Nantuko Primus
1 Verdeloth the Ancient
1 Zuo Ci, the Mocking Sage (well at least this expensive card is not really useful...)
Now a look at other legendary spells:
1 Akroma's Memorial
1 Karn, Silver Golem
1 Konda's Banner
1 Mindslaver (personally not fond of the card)
1 Mirari (probably not enough targets to copy, better things to spend mana on)
1 Oathkeeper, Takeno's Daisho (only one samurai, probably not worth it)
1 Predator, Flagship (maybe good for some targeted removal)
1 Shell of the Last Kappa (probably not a lot of spells pointing only at me in the format... Personal experience anyone?)
1 Skyship Weatherlight (Don't need hand management... Probably)
1 Tatsumasa, The Dragon's Fang
1 That Which Was Taken
1 Umezawa's Jitte (too expensive)
Then there are cantripping spells...
1 Ground Seal
1 Bind (too specific?)
1 Dosan's Oldest Chant
1 Flash foliage
1 Gaea's Blessing
1 Glimpse of Nature (maybe to be used with creature spells to double up on draw)
1 Lace with Moonglove
1 Provoke
1 Refresh
1 Rending Vines
1 Repopulate (contingency if a game goes on so long I am running low on creatures)
1 Tranquil Path
1 Vivify
1 Wildsize
1 Regrowth
1 Recollect
1 Harmonize
1 Kodama's Reach
Finally, non-cantripping spells that are either too useful to leave out, or accelerate extremely well.
1 Cloud Key
1 Hunting Pack
1 Extraplanar Lens
1 Heartbeat of Spring
1 Savage Conception
So here is my initial build of the deck:
1 Reki, the History of Kamigawa
Creatures: 35
1 Arashi, the Sky Asunder
1 Ayumi, the Last Visitor
1 Azusa, Lost but Seeking
1 Baru, Fist of Krosa
1 Bounteous Kirin
1 Dosan the Falling Leaf
1 Glissa Sunseeker
1 Isao, Enlightened Bushi
1 Iwamori of the Open Fist
1 Jedit Ojanen of Efrava
1 Jugan, the Rising Star
1 Kamahl, Fist of Krosa
1 Kaysa
1 Kodama of the North Tree
1 Kodama of the South Tree
1 Masumaro, First to Live
1 Mirri, Cat Warrior
1 Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer
1 Multani, Maro-Sorcerer
1 Myojin of Life's Web
1 Patron of the Orochi
1 Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary
1 Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro
1 Sakiko, Mother of Summer
1 Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant
1 Sekki, Season's Guide
1 Seshiro the Anointed

1 Silvos, Rogue Elemental
1 Sosuke, Son of Seshiro
1 Thriss, Nantuko Primus
1 Hua Tuo, Honored Physician
1 Lady Zhurong, Warrior Queen
1 Meng Huo, Barbarian King
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Dosan's Oldest Chant
1 Gaea's Blessing
1 Lace with Moonglove
1 Refresh
1 Rending Vines
1 Tranquil Path
1 Eternal Witness
1 Regrowth
1 Recollect
1 Harmonize
1 Kodama's Reach
1 Time of need
Non-Cantripping Spells: 9
1 Emerald Medallion
1 Cloud Key
1 Extraplanar Lens
1 Heartbeat of Spring
1 Savage Conception
1 Gauntlet of Power
1 Abundance
1 Vernal Bloom
1 Tangleroot
Artifacts: 7
1 Konda's Banner
1 Predator, Flagship
1 That Which Was Taken
1 Akroma's Memorial
1 Sword of Kaldra
1 Shield of Kaldra
1 Helm of Kaldra
1 Skyship Weatherlight
1 Yavimaya Hollow
1 Tranquil Thicket
1 Terminal Moraine
1 Thawing Glaciers
1 Bant Panorama
1 Jund Panorama
1 Naya Panorama
1 Terramorphic Expanse
1 Grasslands
1 Mountain Valley
26 Forest
Terramorphic Expanse, Terminal Moraine and Thawing Glaciers come to mind.
If your group allows off color fetches like mine does, iw ould run ALL of the green based ones (grasslands, wooded foothills, windswept heath, bant, naya and jund panorama, i forget the RG mirage fetch) just to thin your deck out.
Other than that, it seems fine, though this deck look slike it could benefit from Survival of the Fittest and Wild Pair
