It's decent for four mana. At 3U, it makes a nice wall and evades through when you're ready.

It's odd to see fear on Esper, though. It only makes sense to punish the "outworlders." That would have to be the 'scorn' part.

Solid for 4 mana, ability is kinda Wonky though...there doesnt seem to be enough support for Esper in Conflux overall I think...

This will be very fun to play in limited. Making your creature harder to block while staying untapped so you can block with it sounds awesome.

It is awesome. Thank god it's uncommon- this guy is going to be a pain to fight through.

I'm just disconcerted by a simple 'lich'. Otherwise, it's quite okay.

Nice solid card for limited big but and fear vigilance for a low cost is going to be very nice in any esper deck.

Yeah, I agree on the word "Lich" being tossed around so loosely here. Since when were Lichs anything but awesomely powerful/dangerous? Disappointing.

yeah I too love the card but I hate the name. I mean, liches should only be reserved for powerful mages of black mana. not 2/4s that can attack and defend with decent efficiency.

While elsewhere that is true on esper Aether-Liches are those with too much Filigree on them.

My friend, please look over the Partial Spoiler. We've seen a little more than half the cards and I can say with relative confidence that the shard that is seeing the biggest improvement [thus far] in Conflux is Esper. I can see why it's not all that strong in Alara, cause the goodies are in Conflux. You will be heavily rewarded for being Esper in draft.

At common Esper is already looking at a possible 2/2 for 1, 1/2 flier for 2 that can hit for 3, and a 2/2 flier for 3 that can sap 2 life thanks to your turn 2 strix. Esperzoa at uncommon.....yeah Esper is in good shape for sure.

The Aether-Lich, however, likely won't see play in limited. In a format which has been fairly dry in the 4 slot, Esper is the shard that was likely to fill it up. At the four slot I'd prefer Gargoyles of both varieties and the 3/3 Insect that can sap 1 life for when an artifact enters or leaves play.

You kidding? This guy is very good in limited. You are lucky to get even one tower gargoyle or more than 2 sanctum gargoyles in SSS, so there is not really an abundance of 4 drops. I'd be very happy to run this guy. Vigilance and evasion is a good combination and 2/4 is a very solid body.

I misspoke.

He will see play, but there will be quite a few cards I prefer to play over him in the four slot.

Anyway, I guess we'll find out in a couple of months in terms of how he impacts draft.

That's because lichdom is usually intrinsically evil and thus undertaken only by those who are completely badass.

However on Esper it's an open and shut matter of using the tools available to enhance yourself. Being so common, it is as powerful as common wizardry, in the common mage.

What I find ridiculous is how this compares to Agents of Vectis. I don't know who the Vectis are, but they just lost a lot of PR if they can't compete with this guy.
