Default [CON]MtG.com Jan. 19th - Bloodhall Ooze, Nicol Bolas, tokens

Since no Rumor Mill mod is on, I'll do this. One thread for all previews, locked until time, yadda yadda yadda. Watch the spam.

EDIT:

The English render of Nicol Bolas is the only that has not his left wing reaching out of the box, all other languages have it, see here. Apparently a mistake of the WotC's web team. So please, no more "Why is Bolas not reaching out of the frame?" posts.

The Ooze will be a $30 rare. Count on it.

One mana for that thing is silly.

I read the ooze wrong at first. Didn't realize it GREW each turn. YIKES. That thing will get big.

I think that the ooze will definately see play in the "Jund Ramp" deck that is currently in Standard. Overall in constructed, it doesn't seem that good. The art on the tokens is SO amazing!

Ooze really isn't that good. The fact that it starts out as a 1/1 and essentially requires good board position to be decent makes it terrible on its own and late game its a crap 1/1. I mean... it's not bad...

i just hope each other color has one of these 1 drops that care for other colors

turn 1: lotus petal for red, ooze, bayou and cast a black/green hybrid 1 drop.
turn 2: taiga, rancor, rancor, swing for 7.

it even sounds sick in vintage

I seriously doubt that the ooze will be able to enlarge itself on turn 2 without some special help (cards like elvish spirit guide or simian spirit guide or other zero-mana accelerators), but the potential to be seriously scary after turn 2 is nuts.

Bloodhall Ooze- Best Ooze ever(not that there was much competition), play this 1st turn and then follow it up with a Necrogenesis(or another cheap GB creature like Woodland Mimic) and you've got a 3/3 attacker turn 3, a 5/5 turn 4 etc. etc., This is limited solid(even trigger only on 1 of the colors each turn is solid) and constructed test worthy.

Nicol Bolas- as spoiled, still think he's a bit expensive to have a major impact(maybe worth a 2 of in a QnT or Grixis control deck).

Tokens- Both unusually ugly, particularly the angel, it's probably my least favorite angel art ever.

Bolas is old news though it's nice to see the actual card...

And I like Bloodhall Ooze...

Not quite each turn, only during your turn. But still, awesome for one mana.

Let's see - the only one mana G/B card is Odious Trow. Not exactly stellar in constructed. Two mana has more possibilities, the best being Darkheart Sliver.

Nice design. I don't think it's going to be broken in constructed, but super-awesome in limited.
