The basic principles of mafia apply. There is a town and a mafia. The main tool of the town is the lynch each game-day by majority. The mafia has the ability to assassinate each night-phase and talk at night.
To avoid confusion between day/night in the game and in real life I will always give real life time in hours. This will always be an approximation that can easily vary more than an hour.
The Golden Rules:
# The Forum Rules apply, do not ignore them.
# I can overwrite any other rule with my judgment and it’s entirely possible I have already in your role-PM.
# If you are ever in doubt on a ruling, you can PM me to receive judgment.
# Have fun!
Lynching:
# Type vote: player to subscribe your vote against that player. If you already vote another player the earlier vote will be automatically removed.
# Type unvote to remove all votes you have currently subscribed to any player.
# A player gets lynched, when the number of votes against that player is greater than the lynch threshold.
# If the number of votes for ‘no lynch’ is greater than the lynch threshold, the day ends without a lynch.
# The lynch threshold is set to a number determined by the players alive at the beginning of each day phase. After approximately 48 hours the lynch-threshold will decrease by one until there are enough votes for a lynch.
# There is only one lynch each day - in case of the lynch threshold decreasing to a tie, the players are responsible to break the tie by unvoting.
# If the lynch threshold reaches 0 everyone loses.
Communication:
# Posting in thread is allowed to any living player after I declare the beginning of the day – I will post the outcome of night actions (e.g. victims of night kills) as far as publicly available - until I declare the end of day – I post the outcome of day actions (e.g. the lynch) as far as publicly available.
# Communication outside of the thread on game-related topics is prohibited unless specifically allowed in your role PM. This includes talking about the game to any person not currently in the game.
# Once your dead has been proclaimed, you are no longer allowed to make game-related comments at all. You are allowed a single Bah!-post as long as it contains no game-altering information. When in doubt, don’t say anything; the Bah!-post is optional.
Night:
# Nights will have a deadline of 72 hours – night actions sent in after the deadline ends won’t be considered.
# Members of night-talk groups (e.g. the mafia) may talk to other members mentioned in their Role-PM via personal messaging or a during the night.
Roles:
# Don’t quote any part of any PM I send to you (be it word or image), especially not of your role-PM. This rule will be enforced with mod-kills, probation and blacklisting depending on severity.
# You may however paraphrase your role-PM. Use common sense or ask the mod.
# Crypto-claiming in any form is forbidden.
# There is no Jester. # An example role-PM:

Win condition: When no Mafia players are in play, you win the game.
# Your role may contain activated abilities with one of those symbols: or :symq:. The first denotes an activated night ability with a single use per night, the second an activated day ability with a single use per day. # Mana symbols (:1mana::symw::symu::symb::symr::symg:) in your abilities have no meaning for using the ability unless otherwise stated.
# There may be additional fluff and notes to your abilities (FAQs) in addition to the win condition. The box contains your full role as far as relevant.
Activity & Absence: # Try to post as often as possible – once every one or two days should be okay. If you don’t you will be prodded and granted an additional couple of days to post, before you are replaced. My patience is finite. # If you are not able to post for an extended period of time, make sure I am informed. # You may request a replacement for yourself at any time. # Due to the voting mechanism players may request prodding and replacemet of other players, which I will follow if a prodded player doesn't return to the thread in time. # You may request to freeze the vote threshold while I am searching a replacement.
Etiquette: # Be nice to your mod and fellow players – remember that the general forum rules apply to mafia as well. And after all it’s just a game, no reason to get rude. # Don’t edit your posts. This rule will be enforced with mod-kills. # If a player acts rude as part of a gambit, I can't stop you, but I will evaluate faked rudeness like real rudeness, because it generally takes away from the fun of others. In extreme cases bad sportsmanship may suggest you for probation.
Minineko hasn't posted since February and wasn't active for three days. I start Day 1 anyway with all negative implications for the player. The cat won't have more than 48 hours before I start searching for a replacement. You may post in the thread now.
Heck, every day I wake up, I don't go out and kill people - and I'm rewarded by not having legions of enemies! Amazing how that works.
Although ninjas are experts of camouflage and concealment, they are actually horrible liars. This means that no matter where you are, you can shout out, “Are there any ninjas here?” and if there’s a ninja within earshot, he’ll be compelled to respond.
Jack looks towards the long tables with the many seats. The festivity has been meant as a celebration of the bounteous harvest of the previous months. Fruits of the field greater than a Kith’s head have been brought together and pies baked. The feeling of elation has caught on everyone. But now the mood is dampened by the sudden death of on of their own; today they will not celebrate, but mourn.
Jack can sense without surprise that everyone’s thoughts return again and again to the worrisome words they have heard earlier that day. The cenn’s speech - revealing the investigation results regarding the murder - echoes through the thoughtweft with a voice unwilling to fade away.
“Many of you”, the cenn has started, “ blamed the Fae, who disgraced the body of one of us with their gruesome pranks. But we found soon that the wounds were to deep to be their work. Other rumors spoke of the crime being committed by a Merrow, but the waterways are far from the site of crime. Once we knew that the wounds were inflicted by farming tools of our own kind it didn’t take long until we knew the truth: We had to search among ourselves for the murderers.”
The upset has been great, but soon resolved by the cenn explaining that the list of suspects can be narrowed down to just a few who cannot confirm their whereabouts during the night. It won’t take long to figure out who of these have committed the crime. According to tradition though, everyone has an equal right to present their defense and allow the others to sense the truth in their feelings. Only after everyone is heard a vote is held to decide who will receive justice.
Jack takes his place at a table with twelve chairs and looks at the other Kith sitting on their places. They are talking about the harvest and how good the food tastes, but it won’t be long and they will come to the topic at hand. It won’t be long until the bloodlust that taints the thoughtweft will raise the tempers and fingers will be pointed, accusations will be made and things be said that cannot be taken back. And before the end of the day one of those gathered around this table will be called to justice.
Jack glances at the sky above and wonders whether the sun will ever again rise as bright.
It is Day 1. Twelve players are alive. The lynch threshold is at twelve votes and decreases approximately one vote every 48 hours.
The Bemoaned: 0. Pregame Dude, Kithkin Greatheart, Neutral Survivor has been covered with deep cuts by unknown and desecrated by Fae Night 0.

OK down to business, DV where where you during the night? We all know vampires come out at night.
I'm loving all of the Pulp Fiction references here, and I'm sure Kpaca is too. What's funny is I've never actually seen the movie, just enough clips to know what people are talking about.
Unvote zindabad, vote mystery meat of doom for greymon's reasons. I know kpaca is awesome, and the lynch threshold is no less than 12 right now, but still, THREE votes on one guy? Maybe you just weren't paying attention, but that in itself is QUESTIONABLE
EBYODP: My mistake, I took Graymon as a vote. Sorry Mill.
Huh? I didn't vote for him, I only FoSed him..or is that what you were saying? Sorry lol, I just saw my name (incorrectly spelled, btw :)) mentioned, and I didn't understand your post.
Huh? I didn't vote for him, I only FoSed him..or is that what you were saying? Sorry lol, I just saw my name (incorrectly spelled, btw :)) mentioned, and I didn't understand your post.
Yes thats what I was saying. Sorry about the name, typing fast. Didn't mean anything by it.
* Minineko ducks to avoid horde of "last-to-confirm" random votes.
Meow.
*anticipation*
Gotcha, vote the cat.
Now down to business. Reading the fact that we had two votes place on a player and the significance. That seems to be the only topic atm.
C'mon now, that put three votes on the guy, and we're still way in the beginning of random.
FoS MMOD (and that wasn't random)
I though Greymon was fast to point fingers at MMoD and looked like he was trying to form something on him over nothing, but 3 votes this early doesn't help the town. Thats starting to form a wagon and Greymon, I believe played it smart. Mild FOS MMoD as we're in the early stages.
Ok, since the game appears to be stalling right now, I just went and did a postcount and semi-reread and came up with some pretty interesting stuff. Now I realize that for the most part we have been completely in the random phase, but with a lynch threshold, all the scum have to do is sit back and play along. So here's how many posts everyone has (for most of us, its not a big deal right now, since the game just started) and some general thoughts. (And this is in no particular order other than the signup order on the first page).
1.) Archmage Eternal = 5 posts.
I don't really know what to make of Archmage Eternal right now. His last two posts really bother me though. He slammed a big fat FoS on milldawg for doing "the same thing he accused MMOD for doing" except...that neither myself nor milldawg voted for MMOD. Could be stretching here, but it could've been an attempt to start a bandwagon on the first person who did something that he quickly tried to fix because he really did have a case.
2.) Callaway = 1 post.
This is bad. The game is almost 3 pages long (depending on how many posts you view) and he has 1 post. This SCREAMS lurker to me. Now it is possible he could be newb town afraid of saying anything to get himself killed but @callaway: You HAVE to speak up if we're going to catch the scum. If you don't, we're going to accuse you of lurking, and the whole REASON you're lurking is going to be what ends up being the outcome. I don't really have a suspicion of you yet, but if you don't start posting, especially since I've called you out on it, there could be a problem.
3.) Deaths_Vampire = 4 posts.
Not much to say here, 2 of the posts were random phase posts. The third post he tells milldawg and myself that MMOD's vote against kpaca wasn't a big deal. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was still curious, and it got some discussion going. His last post he seconds the idea of replacing our little green friend (Minineko). Like I said, nothing one way or the other here yet.
4.) greymon90210 = 5 posts
3 of my posts were in the random phase. My 4th post dealt with MMOD's vote on kpaca, which I didn't like because 3 votes on someone in the random phase is no good, no matter what the circumstances. My 5th vote was asking Archmage Eternal to clarify his last two posts.
5.) iLord = 2 posts.
No relevant information at all. 2 random posts, and then dropped off the planet. This looks like lurking as well.
6.) Kpaca = 4 posts.
Once again, nothing relevant to pick up on, but at least he is present and posting.
7.) Milldawg = 2 posts.
One random vote, and one that is very suspicious to me. Right after I had brought up my point against MMOD, he slams down a vote and completely barns my argument, without adding any of his own reasoning. This sounds like a blatant start to a bandwagon, while trying to put the blame on me by saying "for all the reasons greymon stated".
8.) Minineko = 2 posts.
Towards the top of my scum list. He's only posted twice, but that's not what gets me. What gets me is he doesn't post until TODAY, and only right after people start talking about replacing him. This tells me he was lurking but following along. The other lurkers in here could have a valid reason, but Minineko doesn't show up until someone starts calling for a replace.
9.) Mystery Meat of Doom = 3 posts.
The only thing of interest here is his vote against kpaca, and after my reread, that's not nearly as suspicious as the lurking and other slip ups. I still don't like it, but its entirely possible it was all because of the random stage, and he just didn't know who had voted kpaca yet. Middle of my list right now.
10.) Skander = 3 posts.
Nothing relevant here so far. 3 posts all involve Wuffles, hasn't really commented on anything so far. Could be plain-sight lurking, we'll see in the upcoming days.
11.) Wuffles_II = 4 posts.
Nothing too bad here, except something he did in his first post that seems a little odd to me, but I'll definitely give him a chance to explain. In his first post, he "daykilled" and "voted" Minineko, and then in his last post he wants him replaced. Is this because he was trying to put distance between himself and his scum buddy at the beginning, and when Minineko wasn't showing up he was getting upset because they had a scum who wasn't posting so he wanted someone better? Or do they have a friendship outside of the game? Or does he just not like our little green friend (Minineko)? Wuffles, I'll let you explain that.
12.) Zindabad = 2 posts (kind of).
Both posts are just quotes of someone else, with a period at the end. Excuse me if I'm wrong here, but that's just basically spam, even in a mafia thread. You've basically not posted anything of your own, so while it looks like you've posted, really you've been lurking the entire time. This seems scummy at best to me.
Whew, now that that is over with, I'll let you all know who is on my scum list.
Minineko
Zindabad
Milldawg
iLord
Callaway
A couple of these people can probably remove themselves from that list as soon as they start posting relevant information.
For the time being, I'm going to Vote: Minineko for lurking all the way up until someone mentions replacing him, then all the sudden *POOF* he's here. Care to explain that, Minineko?
EBWOP: Boo, change the number of posts for AE from 5 to 7. And now, after those two posts, his two prior to that don't bother me as much because he clarified himself on the MMOD issue, and realized that three votes on someone during the early stages of the game is never going to help the town.
(I said boo because I worked on my super long post for like an hour lol)

Yeah you're right, and I'm sure I mentioned it later on in my long ass post. You know me from the Youkai mafia though, I'm still getting used to this whole "go back and read posts from 3 days ago" thing lol.
Thanks for correcting me, he did indeed vote for MMOD, clearing you in my mind even more.
Oh, and now mine and AEs post counts are both off in the LAP (long ass post)
dude, I understand your need to post content (thanks to the lynch threshold) but this stuff is, for the most part, reaching. Since I don't want to be seen dead doing a breakdown of your posts this early, my responses are bolded within your quote.
Ok, since the game appears to be stalling right now, I just went and did a postcount and semi-reread (semi-reread? You yourself said it - there've only been 3 pages - what's a "semi-reread" in a 120 post game? ) and came up with some pretty interesting stuff. Now I realize that for the most part we have been completely in the random phase, (yeeees) but with a lynch threshold, all the scum have to do is sit back and play along. So here's how many posts everyone has (for most of us, its not a big deal right now, since the game just started) and some general thoughts. (And this is in no particular order other than the signup order on the first page). (You seem here to be rather anxious to mention this - it strikes me that townies usually don't care about expressing bias toward the person they most think has stepped out of line, but you seem quite concerned about this - if people are acting funny, then why not just say it, rather than saying "uh, okay, here's a list?)
1.) Archmage Eternal = 5 posts.
I don't really know what to make of Archmage Eternal right now. His last two posts really bother me though. Could be stretching here, but it could've been an attempt to start a bandwagon on the first person who did something that he quickly tried to fix because he really did have a case.
Yeah, stretching I think.
Why are you lurker hunting this early. It's not like he's holding up the 120 post game at all, is he? It shouldn't SCREAM anything. Too early to label it a lurker trend.
3.) Deaths_Vampire = 4 posts.
Not much to say here, 2 of the posts were random phase posts. The third post he tells milldawg and myself that MMOD's vote against kpaca wasn't a big deal. Not much to say here except PLEASE DV PLEASE USE NORMAL PEOPLE LOGIC THIS GAME
This is quite unusual - why are you bothering to evaluate your own posts? If we want you to clarify something, we'll ask, won't we?
5.) iLord = 2 posts.
No relevant information at all. 2 random posts, and then dropped off the planet. This looks like lurking as well.
Okay, he's lurking. What does this mean? It doesn't reflect his alignment one way or the other - it just makes him either busy or lazy.
6.) Kpaca = 4 posts.
Once again, nothing relevant to pick up on, but at least he is present and posting.
I like pie.
7.) Milldawg = 2 posts.
One random vote, and one that is very suspicious to me. Right after I had brought up my point against MMOD, he slams down a vote and completely barns my argument, without adding any of his own reasoning. This sounds like a blatant start to a bandwagon, while trying to put the blame on me by saying "for all the reasons greymon stated".
um. Could he possibly, have any other reasons, other than the ones you stated, for dropping that vote, at that stage of the game? If so, please, let me know. If not, stop slamming him for barning you.
Dude, the guy was blatantly busy - he hadn't been on the site in days. He's an ass for holding the start of the game up, but what the hell, man. Don't confuse "not posting" for "being scummy". It's too early for lurker hunting.
MMOD always does that, doesn't he?
10.) Skander = 3 posts.
Nothing relevant here so far. 3 posts all involve Wuffles, hasn't really commented on anything so far. Could be plain-sight lurking, we'll see in the upcoming days.
Skander wuvs me.
11.) Wuffles_II = 4 posts.
Nothing too bad here, except something he did in his first post that seems a little odd to me, but I'll definitely give him a chance to explain. In his first post, he "daykilled" and "voted" Minineko, and then in his last post he wants him replaced. Or do they have a friendship outside of the game? Or does he just not like our little green friend (Minineko)? Wuffles, I'll let you explain that.
Um...
...
I was not trying to put "distance" between myself and the greencat.
I certainly didn't want him replaced because I wanted "a better scumbuddy".
And this is the first thread I have ever posted in which minineko has also posted in, aside from the signup thread, ergo, he is not my "real-life friend". AFAIK.
He wasn't posting.
He was stopping the game from starting.
Even after the game started, he was still not posting.
Can you see how this might be construed as being non-constructive to the flow of the game, irrespective of his alignment?
12.) Zindabad = 2 posts (kind of).
Both posts are just quotes of someone else, with a period at the end. Excuse me if I'm wrong here, but that's just basically spam, even in a mafia thread. You've basically not posted anything of your own, so while it looks like you've posted, really you've been lurking the entire time. This seems scummy at best to me.
I agree here. Zindabad, do that again and I'll be reporting you, kay?
dude, I understand your need to post content (thanks to the lynch threshold) but this stuff is, for the most part, reaching. Since I don't want to be seen dead doing a breakdown of your posts this early, my responses are bolded within your quote.Less emphasis on lurking this early in the game.
But at least you're trying.
Nuff said.
I think Zas knows (as do others) quite well why I did those two "period" posts. Just a bit of a joke, you know, during the random stage. So less "IMMA REPORT U" ok?
I am here, I can speak, and I will contribute. But greymon's post is a load of nothing (people are lurking 3 pages into the game? Well, I never) so I don't feel in any way pressured to speak to that.
I've got a better idea. How about a soft claim? Name what set you're from. I'll go first if we agree on this idea.
The whole point of that list was to get discussion going, which it did.
@Wuffles: You seemed to really get defensive about a lot of the stuff I said. Its true, we're not far into the game, and I didn't really have a lot to go on. But I extracted whatever I could from everything, and posted it (and by the semi-reread, I meant that while I was searching the thread for users and counting up their posts, I re-skimmed them, I didn't go back and read every single post). Nothing was going on in this thread, absolutely nothing. So I pointed out the lurkers and put them on my scum list because nobody else who has posted has done anything inherently scummy yet, so starting with the people who have not been posting seems like a good idea. I even said that I'm sure that list will go down as soon as they start posting. I'm trying to find the scum, because although we're still good in terms of the lynch threshold, if nobody had taken up the initiative to DO what I did, there's a good chance nobody would've posted until it was too late. Again, I know that there wasn't a lot to go on, I just used whatever I could work with.
@zindabad: I'm glad you have your own voice, and in regards to my post. It may not have as much as a post like that would have after D2 or D3, but its better than 2 quotes with a period. I'm not stupid, I realized it was a joke during random, but the reason I brought it up is because I want to hear more out of everyone. Your soft claim intrigues me, why do you think that would help anything? And for that matter, how are you sure that everyone is a card with a set? My post might not have had the most information in the world, but it has already accomplished two of the things I wanted it to do: It has sparked discussion, and it has gotten one person who hadn't posted much to not only post with relevant information, but to even ask for a soft claim.
I am not sure that everyone is a card with a set. My role PM is structured that way, however.
A soft claim is a good idea because it locks mafia into a certain range of roles they can claim. If Scum #1 claims to be from the Morningtide set, there's only so many roles he can realistically be. Then, later, when he comes under pressure, he has to also remember that whatever he says has to jive with his earlier subclaim. If Scum #1 later needs to claim to be a protective role, he's only got a couple of false claims to choose from in the Morningtide set. Any time we can limit the options available to scum, the town benefits.

Minineko hasn't posted since February and wasn't active for three days. I start Day 1 anyway with all negative implications for the player. The cat won't have more than 48 hours before I start searching for a replacement.
You may post in the thread now.

The Bemoaned:
0. Pregame Dude, Kithkin Greatheart, Neutral Survivor has been covered with deep cuts by unknown and desecrated by Fae Night 0.

My Custom Set: Solescurio
Lynch all liars.
I played with him (albeit briefly) in Star Trek Expanded Universe.
It's not "I'm [Wuffles is] the only player HE'S [iLord has] played with"
It's "He's [Wuffles_II] the only player in this game I'VE [iLord has] played with."
ENGLISH MOTHER♥♥♥♥ER DO YOU SPEAK IT!
Ah yes, forgot about that.
Come to think of it, I think I played a game with MMOD way back too. Can't remember which.
My Custom Set: Solescurio
Wuffles_II, you're an idiot.
It's not "I played with him [Wuffles_II] (albeit briefly) in Star Trek Expanded Universe."
It's "I played with him [iLord] (albeit briefly) in Star Trek Expanded Universe."
INTENT MOTHER♥♥♥♥ER DO YOU GET IT!
@Callaway: Why is it that to several people I'm all of the sudden this lynch inducing monster?
Think I played with iLord in 2-3 games actually, at least Star Trek and some game awhile ago. Talk about bad memory.
Unvote: Kpaca
C'mon now, that put three votes on the guy, and we're still way in the beginning of random.
FoS MMOD (and that wasn't random)

No, but look at it now. Their doing the same thing to MMoD that they're accusing him of doing. Well Mill is....big fat FOS Mill.

They hate us cause they ain't us.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Can we replace minineko and get on with the game, please?
Seconded!!!

Meow.
*anticipation*
Gotcha, vote the cat.
Now down to business. Reading the fact that we had two votes place on a player and the significance. That seems to be the only topic atm.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
I though Greymon was fast to point fingers at MMoD and looked like he was trying to form something on him over nothing, but 3 votes this early doesn't help the town. Thats starting to form a wagon and Greymon, I believe played it smart. Mild FOS MMoD as we're in the early stages.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
1.) Archmage Eternal = 5 posts.
Minineko
Zindabad
Milldawg
iLord
Callaway
A couple of these people can probably remove themselves from that list as soon as they start posting relevant information.
For the time being, I'm going to Vote: Minineko for lurking all the way up until someone mentions replacing him, then all the sudden *POOF* he's here. Care to explain that, Minineko?
(I said boo because I worked on my super long post for like an hour lol)
Yes Milldawg did.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
But at least you're trying.
Nuff said.
Regarding greymon, I basically agree with Wuffles. We shouldn't be too suspicious of lurkers yet, but we SHOULD make them post
Vote Callaway to get him to post.

"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
