Ah. I had seen this card before, but forgot about it. That's kinda what I was getting at.
I expect ARB to have a lot of
[This card is ______ ] "even though it isn't"
like rules.
One wonders if Hybrid cards would be affected. (Are hybrid cards technically multicolored? - if the border on hybrids is any clue, it would not be the "standard" multicolored situation.)
I guess the set COULD have one drops, but I don't think it will overshadow the perceived heavy casting cost nature of a "traditional" multicolored set.
The entire point of an "all gold" set is defeated if a large part of the gold cards are just gold for a BS reason like the text "This card is red, green, and white" printed on it. The most likely result is just that the set won't have any one-drops -- not really that big a sacrifice.
there def. will be one-drops. the set isn't simply going to be "all gold all the time"
there will most likely be a set of mono-colored one-drops w/ some basic effect. refer to tukatongue thallid.
There can't be any mono-colored cards. Mono cards always go before gold in collector's numbers, and Ardent Plea is number 1.
I expect ARB to have a lot of
[This card is ______ ] "even though it isn't"
like rules.
Doesn't work. Ghostfire goes between Fomori Nomad and Grinning Ignus, while Transguild Courier goes between Skullmead Cauldron and Walking Archive in collector's numbers.
Hybrid? Didn't they suggest that they'll be making that evergreen?
I expect at most a 1-mana artifact or two. And not artifact creatures, which are exclusively colored in this set.
1-drops were never important on an expansion-by-expansion basis. Many lack 1-drops for certain colors, many more have 1-drops that are unplayable in limited. All relevant limited 1-drops they can just put in some fair ratio in the rest of the block, and constructed spans multiple sets so the "good" 1-drops were simply already printed.
I would submit that there will be good 1 drops, one mana artifacts that help with mana fixing, such as wander's twig or sol ring. Well, maybe not sol ring per say but a good one none the less.

"Wizards could put $100 bills in packs and people would complain about how they were folded."
Ooh I just had another idea for how they could do the one-drops and other mono-colored cards:
Rainbow Dude - 1
If W was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Lifelink and is White.
If U was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Flying and is Blue.
If B was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Deathtouch and is Black.
If R was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Haste and is Red.
If G was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Trample and is Green.

If G was spent to play Rainbow Dude, he gains Trample and is Green.
That would be a new variation of hybrid & a way of having 1 drops for each color. They could even have multiples of this with different names & different abilities for the color used in casting.

hmm.. let's see..
CARDNAME's color is the color/colors of mana you spent to play it.
There will probably be no gold one-drops, but alternate costs are feasible, such as on Qasali Ambusher. I wouldn't be surprised to see the return of pitch cards, but this time in multicolor. Something like...
Improved Hull BreachRG

The problem with that card is that it's easy enchantment destruction in mono red. I'd think it would have to be a card that's both red and green. Sure, that still allows hybrid shenanigans, but that's part of the point of hybrid anyway.
If anyone cares, hybrid could technically be in since it's numbered after gold according to Ravnica block. Of course, the set theme could just be that there are no mono colored cards rather than being all gold since gold is 2nd in the numbering lineup after mono color. It's followed by hybrid, artifact, and finally land. That's certainly still something that's never been done before. It would also be the opposite of Legions, the only set that was 100% monocolored. (in addition to being all creatures) I'm surprised Wizards has never used that piece of trivia that I know of.

Those are certainly cool designs that we could certainly see. Just cool it on the power level next time. One life/cipt are relevant drawbacks for dual lands, not 3/2 for 1.
Unlikely, given we know there are no white one drops, but...
One Drop Kitty G
This card is red and green. When One Drop Kitty enters play, If you do not have 1 red mana in your mana pool, sacrifice One Drop Kitty.
2/1
...I really like the design of cards that look at mana in your mana pool but don't spend it.
If they truly are going away from mana burn, then that card could be printed.
As for Hybrid, I don't know why you would think it too early to print Hybrid cards again... I mean, SHA/EVE had them... but it wasn't a "main theme." If this is truly a multi-color only set, then they would be doing themselves a disservice to not use hybrid in the design space. Hybrid just may not be a major theme, but I can almost guarantee we'll have hybrid cards in ARB if its all multi-colored.
Well, do hybrids count as multicolor? If so, then we'll have some hybrid one drops. If not, then we'll have artifact 1 drops or something. I don't know.
Exactly. I dont see what all the fuss is about. The real question should be, what kind of lands are they going to give us, if any? I mean, you can't really print a multi-color set without some kind of mana fixing, otherwise its going to almost obsolete any other pick in the first set beyond mana fixing. People will start valuing mana fixing even higher than its already 1-3rd pick material... imagine, Panoramas as auto first picks?

Assuming the set IS multi-color,
and
Assuming the set indeed has one drops, [Cards with just 1 symbol in the casting cost.]
What change to the game will we get, in order to satisfy both conditions?
Alternate casting costs? A different understanding of what colors a card?
Could it become possible to have a 1 CC multicolor card?
Meeko will now refer to the time when MAGIC entered the "beginning of the end step".
Magic 2010.
Or Transguild Courier-ish creatures.

sounds like sunburst for me....
Didn't all Sunburst up untill now use counters?
