Default [RAV] Muddle the Mixture (FULL CARD Post 172)

For those of you who don't know, supercoolsexyfunsmart is the nickname we gave to the source who has been providing us with some of the RAV leaks, including Lizardman and the humped llama.

Also it might have another ability or maybe its an Instant, not sure. I'll see if he will talk about it some more. I dont want to be rude or pressure him! Thx keep his name and my name a secret.
This sounds like the blue/black (Dimir) guild's keyword, to me. Remember from this thread we know that it "lets you mutate a card in your hand into something else from your library, as long as both cards have the same mana cost". I'm not sure why they'd need to keyword this card "Mix" but like supercoolsexyfunsmart said, that might not be the whole card. Sounds pretty good.

(And in my opinion, blue should be the colour that gets "search your library for a card" spells, not black... but if any guild should get such a mechanic, the blue/back one is most appropriate I guess.)

As always, I'll post any further info I get.

First post!

UB is definately a color that would get plenty of tutors, still don't know enough to know how good this one is yet.

GOGO RAVNICA!

So we've got:

"Mix" 1uu
Instant?
*Normal Stuff*
Keyword (Search your library for a card with a converted mana cost of 2, reveal it and place it in your hand. Then shuffle your library)

Looks pretty cool to me.

Seems pretty AMAZING to me...

I mean any random card with a keyworded ability that is a tutoring cantrip is definately going to see play.

Pretty good info, and I concur with the UB getting tutors theory.

The source said it was a "1UU Sorcery" but that it might be Instant, so I'd change it to Sorcery?

Seems around the same kinda level as Eerie Procession to me. Arcane was more popular than 2cc cards but then arcane limits it to instants and sorceries. 2cc can be ANYTHING (with 2cc lol).
What fun 2cc cards can we think of in the U/B (dimir) guild .... can you say mill 10? Is it me or does this card (/ability if it's the mutate effect) work seemlessly with the milling card.

I know (what do we know now?) ... 23 cards? ... was it? .... and i LOVE RANVICA
GO GO GO GO GO .... etc

EDIT: forgot to say: Thank you R.E. Thank you .... source

Great to see some more versatile tutor cards for us in the upcoming Kamigawa-Ravnica Standard, as if sensei's top wasn't being played enough huh? I love it!

Thanks supercoolsexyfunsmart for the info dude! And to brother Rancored for putting in all the hard yards, and getting this info to the mill!

Don't forget.. I'm sure it will do something else as well as the tutoring effect, otherwise there would be no need to keyword it.

But I agree with you on the GOGO Ravnica, brother!

I'm thinking the "mutate" keyword will be the secondary part of the card. I think it'll have a normal effect, and the mutate will be a keyworded bonus to the card, like cycling in a way.

Well, this is not what I was expecting. A straight tutor mechanic sounds boring as hell to me.

Maybe there actually is a lot more to it though; remember how bland and boring and week that one Loxodon Beatstick was when we first heard of him?

Eh. Merchant Scroll fetches Force of Will as well as Ancestral Recall.

Is it up to 2 mana or 2 mana? big difference...

Of course ... the guildmages. 2cc cards! This also makes threads of disloyalty spring to mind. Is it me or does blue like 2cc cards.

Also, what time is it there. I know this is off topic, but I really would like to know what time you are at so I can work out how far ahead/behind you are to me. Thanks.

PS Other 2cc cards in Rav would be the zombie (flyer) and peel from reality. The WR 'can't attack/block' and the doublestriker. Also note, the mana artifacts cost 2 (the signets) and if the WG deck sorting artifact is any sort of cycle (obviously not all having the same effect) then they may be the same costs too.

Hehehehe, hey man, It's not sucking up if it's true my friend!

Could we speculate, as I beieve it had been mentioned before, that the 'mutate' mechanic changes the spells ability, kind of like kicker, based on having certain permanents in play when it is cast? Or, would it seem to be more like splice, which relies on having specific cards in hand to acheive the 'mutated' effects?

Edit: doh, Just reread the jist of the 'Mutate' mechanic, 'You reveal a card from your library, with converted mana caost equal to{this} when you play it' seems like a great place to start then follow with 'if you do, add that cards abilities to {this} as part of it's effect' ...Sounds reasonable?
