There once some billy goats gruff
Who'd decided they'd had quite enough
So they packed up their things
All they wanted to bring
And they took off from home in a huff
Now just down the path was a troll
Who rarely went out for a stroll
But today had come out
And was up and about
For today he was hunting for mole
The troll saw the goats coming by
And a glint appeared in his eye
He decided he'd eat
A tastier treat
For mole only gets through July
He called up some friends with a note
He tried his best not to gloat
And they all sat around
Until they had found
The best way to catch the poor goats
Now you all can take on the role
Of a goat, or possibly troll
Yes you're welcome to play
Or watch with dismay
As one by one goats lose their souls

It is now day 1; you may post in the thread. With 12 alive, it's 7 to lynch.
You're a revolting goat. And I don't mean you have bad hygiene. You are trying to overthrow us peaceful types. You're clearly a spy against the goat cause. And until I see further evidence, be it compelling toward someone else or away from you. My vote stands.
(Yes I realize I'm being far too analytical on a random vote. Deal with it.)
First of all, I do have bad hygiene. I mean, I have completely atrocious hygiene. I roll around in whatever I can, and eating garbage for the past few months has given me really bad breath. The good news, though, is that I don't have to worry about contracting swine flu, because the other goats won't get close enough to transmit it.
Second of all, I'm trying to get those lazy "peaceful" goats to stand up against troll injustice. These trolls have been tolling without representation for quite some time. I say we get ourselves some freedom.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
Vote phoenix33 for using numb3r5 and not using CAPITAL LETTERS in his name.
Vote Alpha Werewolf
Because a werewolf is the closest thing I can find to a troll on the players list
Oh My God! You Suck!
Plus, were-wolf means man-wolf. How's that even close to troll, which means somebody who posts on message boards just to annoy people?
What better mad mischief than to swap around everyone's hats? I see that you have no answer. And I am not at all surprised, for indeed there is no finer mischief than a swapping around of hats.

On a more serious note, FoS Draknodred for putting a third vote on me so early.
It's just that Roger has had the most compelling argument so far as to who to vote for, if you can give me a better one for someone else I'm more than willing to see what you have to say.
You do not make compelling arguements in the random phase, grasshopper. You randomly vote for people.
Not to mention that roles are randomly distributed, and have nothing to do with usernames.
I know I'm new but I at least know that much! I'm just kidding around though. I wasn't trying to get you lynched or anything, just trying to have some fun

Vote Slio9 cause that avatar keeps screaming at me
Even though goatrevolt is clearly a troll cleverly disguising himself with the screenname and avatar of a goat, I cannot vote for someone that subtly references Always Sunny.
No, three votes is a borderline bandwagon. I'm not going to push this at this point of the game (random phase and stuff), but if I get halfway to a lynch (remember, borderline) I get suspicious.
@Silo: I woke up early this morning to work on a term paper, but I guess we can both see how well that's going for me.
I can related to that. Just finished a third Final for the week. Unvote

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. There's no way you'd get lynched in the random phase of a 12 player game, unless you statr on flailing around. Last game I followed had Day one end with a lynch of scum after they flailed because of 3 votes.

Drak is a little too worried about having placed the 3rd vote.

Two daykills day 1 in a Basic? Vote stands. Now that I've gotten that joke out of the way:
A_W was being a little touchy for only having three votes on him, (moreso in his response to Phoenix than to Drak) but I don't think that his initial reaction was unjustified. He wasn't doing anything particularly agressive towards Drak; he just sent an FOS his way. However, I'm not a fan of the bit about three votes being a "borderline bandwagon."
A_W - Would you have reacted the same way if this happened in a larger game and you had 6/14 votes needed to lynch you?
Also, I find the bolded part of Drak's reply to be interesting.
I know I'm new but I at least know that much! I'm just kidding around though. I wasn't trying to get you lynched or anything, just trying to have some fun
He goes on to mention that the random phase confused him, and that the source of his hesitation was because of it. I'm not sure that I'm crazy about how quickly he backed off after getting only one FOS for something that wasn't all that suspicious in the first place.
Drak - Were you concerned that your vote could have possibly lead to A_W getting lynched?

Not really, it's not a clear cut yes or no thing. Nothing in Mafia is a clear cut yes or no thing. You do what you think benefits the town most. If that's pushing to get somebody to L-2, cool. If you think that it's laying low and leting somebody slip up, that's how it goes.

I've never really put a lot of stock in the notion that putting a third random vote on someone is scummy. I mean, if you're using random.org (or a d12, if you're cool like that) and it tells you to put a vote on someone with two votes on them already, is it somehow less scummy if you reroll? How about picking a player name off the list, then checking to see what they're at before you vote? Putting on a third vote is not scummy or dangerous, and I think A_W is overreacting, especially by calling it "halfway to a lynch."
What better mad mischief than to swap around everyone's hats? I see that you have no answer. And I am not at all surprised, for indeed there is no finer mischief than a swapping around of hats.
FMJ: I think it would be scummier to reroll in that situation. Then you're in the realm of worrying how your vote is going to look to the rest of the game, which is more of a scum trait.
3/7 is halfway to a lynch. How does that specific phrase, "halfway to a lynch", reflect the overreacting?

I don't think putting the third vote on someone in the early stages of the game is that scummy, as long as it doesnt put them at -2 to lynch.
Lynch -2 is claim range. I think Lynch -3 is only justifiable if there's some real suspicion, and I was borderline there.
That said, I already mentioned it's not important at this stage, and I'd only push the case if this happened later in the game without a real case.
I'm starting to think that you pwoplw are overreacting to how I reacted.

I wasn't reacting at all. You, on the other hand, with that post, seem to be overreacting a bit yourself.
The only other thing of note is Draknodred's putting a third vote on you. But, this is neither strong town or strong mafia play, and could be done by a new player on either side, so for now, it's not worth looking into.
Which is what I keep on saying, and you guys keep saying my reaction was too much. Seriously, it's just a single FoS and I haven't even tried to investigate on it.

Lynch -2 is claim range. I think Lynch -3 is only justifiable if there's some real suspicion, and I was borderline there.
The bit about "halfway to a lynch" was overreacting, because there was never any danger of getting lynched. It's like going from the main deck of a ship to somewhere underdeck. You could accurately say that you're halfway to the ocean, but it's not like there's any risk of drowning. It's just scary language, same with what I quoted above. A_W wasn't at L-3, and he certainly wasn't at L-2. Phrases like that just make his situation seem worse than it was.
What better mad mischief than to swap around everyone's hats? I see that you have no answer. And I am not at all surprised, for indeed there is no finer mischief than a swapping around of hats.
In a random stage, I don't see how someone would get to L-2 or lower just on random votes, so A W was perfectly safe in my eyes. When I vote during random phases, I don't even pay attention to anyone's current vote count because it generally doesn't matter. And I don't see how anything in the random voting stage can be considered a (borderline) bandwagon.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
I don't see how there's anything else I can contribute to this discussion. I've already made my points, you're just reiterating the arguements.
You have, but there is absolutely nothing else going on in the game right now, so the choices are either keep on with random votes, say nothing, or talk about this, because all discussion stems from other discussion.
