Default New judge promos - Pro Tour Honolulu 2009

Hi all.

I'm on staff here at Pro Tour Honolulu (currently in the staff hotel lobby, in fact).

I can confirm that the new promos at this event are Maze of Ith and Wooded Foothills. Foothills retains its Onslaught art.

It was also confirmed that as an additional reward for judges worldwise, Wizards would be providing an Alara block draft set (including tix) for Magic Online to the ~1,750 judges in the programme.

Good lord. Another premium fetchland? Some people are happy, some not so much. The maze is definitely on the "get list."

That Maze art is simply breath taking. I'll have to acquire a set.

New Maze artwork is hot, but I absolutely love the old brain-esque one. Wooded foothills looks real purdy with that new DCI stamp on it. Couldn't believe that some people were dissapointed with the bloodstained mires they were tossing around like candy last time, no new artwork notwithstanding... Fetches are some of the most playable cards in magic, and expensive to acquire to boot.

I should've been a judge!

Cool

Oooooohhhhhhhh...........

Super shiny Maze.....must have. I've been drooling over that since it was leaked a while back (someone had a pic up). Agreed on that one iRebel -- breathtaking -- Boros & Szikszai have done it again!

Another promo fetch? I can't help but notice they've done the only ones that don't search up islands.......

They'll probably do the Islands last, simple because they like to torture us blue loving Mages, Lol.

If they keep with the colour wheel progression, GW is next (BR, RG, GW), followed by WU and UB last.

You're most likely right. I was also thinking that it was because of the secondary market. WotC seems to keep that kind of thing in mind, and the blue foil fetches are still going for ridiculous amounts of money. Probably won't see promo blue fetches till after they rotate out of extended.

Maybe someone more savvy than I can run the numbers but isn't it also odd that by introducing the non-blue cycle first it actually IN THEORY raises the price of the blue fetches comparatively? Since these will be handed out, in some cases, nearly a full year before the Polluted Delta promo comes out. Hmm intresting...
