maro254@mtgaaron Tiago's card was in ZEN but it didn't work out. He's given us a new card which is going into Lights. I feel bad about the delay.

Has anyone heard what the new card may be?

Tiago Chan's original card was, if I'm not mistaken, a nonbasic land called Denying Channel, which looked something like this:

Indeed. This does, however, give us a hint about Zendikar block, since this card seems to outright go against the design of that entire block.

Also known as the most broken control player's card evar. Yes, please, let me hit my land drops AND make sure I always have a counterspell.

The idea was horrible from the get-go, and I was always astounded that Tiago couldn't see how broken it was.

I would move this to speculation. There is no more info other than it's coming in Lights.

That sucks. That's a pretty good concept for a card.

EDIT: Upon further contemplation, Evan's right. the only way that could be not-format-ruining would be to make it have a steeper cost (discarding more cards, saccing a land, higher mana cost, etc.)

Since we all know R&D's recent anti-control shenanigans they probably made him change it to something like

add to the fact its also uncounterable on its own sans stifle like effects.

Stick CIPT on it, scale it to 2UUU or 3UU, and I'd say it's probably printable with the current state of T2. That just me?

"It didn't work out" can mean a lot of things. I think the more likely reason was that the card was too powerful and couldn't be toned down without making it suck horribly. By the time they realized this and Tiago submitted a new idea, it could have been too late for its inclusion in ZEN.
