Denying Channel
Land
T: Add to your mana pool.
2UU, Discard Denying Channel: Counter target spell.
BUT, as we know, things don't always work out that way.
That sucks. That's a pretty good concept for a card.
EDIT: Upon further contemplation, Evan's right. the only way that could be not-format-ruining would be to make it have a steeper cost (discarding more cards, saccing a land, higher mana cost, etc.)
Since we all know R&D's recent anti-control shenanigans they probably made him change it to something like
Timmy's Lair
Land
CIPT
T: AddG to your mana pool. 2GG, T: The owner of target blue instant loses the match.
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Indeed. This does, however, give us a hint about Zendikar block, since this card seems to outright go against the design of that entire block.
"It didn't work out" can mean a lot of things. I think the more likely reason was that the card was too powerful and couldn't be toned down without making it suck horribly. By the time they realized this and Tiago submitted a new idea, it could have been too late for its inclusion in ZEN.

If you came here expecting a signature, you've just wasted your time.
The card was broken beyond recognition. It's uncounterable, fills your yard (often a good thing), hits your land drops (doesn't even cipt).... Ew. And I LIKE control.
Anyways, I thought THIS was the last invitational card, not Ruel's.
I've gotta agree with those saying the card is not broken. It's really strong, sure, but it's still a four-mana counterspell that doesn't also do whatever else you want it to do.
Now, the interaction with Loam is a little more concerning... I could see that irritating a lot of people in Extended. But it isn't nearly on a CounterTop level of brokenness.

its broken because its a land and the ability itself cant be countered by spells not called stifle. It makes blue stronger as it acts a early land on then let game its a counter never a dead draw, something blue always needs or any color at that.

maro254@mtgaaron Tiago's card was in ZEN but it didn't work out. He's given us a new card which is going into Lights. I feel bad about the delay.
Has anyone heard what the new card may be?

What is Zendikar's code name?
Thankfully, it's not just Traumatic Visions 2.0 anymore, apparently. Looking forward to it.

That seems like a long time.

Also known as the most broken control player's card evar. Yes, please, let me hit my land drops AND make sure I always have a counterspell.
The idea was horrible from the get-go, and I was always astounded that Tiago couldn't see how broken it was.
I would move this to speculation. There is no more info other than it's coming in Lights.

UGR Intet, the Dreamer
B Korlash, Heir to Blackblade
WUBRG Sliver Overlord
W Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant
add to the fact its also uncounterable on its own sans stifle like effects.

Point: It sees play outside of Limited <.<
The land isn't broken, maybe in lights they will have Grandeur come back and make the land a Legendary land

Yeah. I don't know how Chan expects to be on the card if its a land. *shrug* Maybe he doesn't care about that.
So, they're willing to do it, if the card calls for it.

Just have the card art have Chan being countered somewhere on it.
He won? Didn't he get 2nd or something and R&D liked it so they made it?
Edit: Looked it up, it was voted on and it won. It wasn't made by the winner

Hardly broken, imo.
Too slow for every format except standard, where it may see play if a near-monoblue deck becomes playable.
