Default Magic 2010 Already out of print till AUG? (unconfirmed)

I signed on to the meetup site that my store uses to basically keep in contact with players and such, and my store owner said this:

Quote:
Not to create mass panic, but...
Just a heads up, M10 is not out yet, and it's already gone.
We will have enough to host drafts, and sell to customers as
we had a heads up again as with the Divine and Demonic situation.
But even our supply may not last terribly long.
This set is going to be tremendously scarce, I wouldn't be suprised if cards
explode in value, I suppose it's a fun time to be playing Magic.
They are anticipating being able to print new product and release the weekend of August
14th. But that is by no means a firm date.
Will keep you guys posted.
Anyone else able to confirm this?

StarCity was warning about this- there's about a 3-week gap between initial orders and follow-up ones, and the set's apparently in incredibly high demand due to the overall powerlevel of the rares in the set. They expect to sell out, and they've sold about 140 boxes in the past 3-4 days.

Yeah the store i go to (coolstuffinc)'s website already has booster box crates (3 or 6 boxes) listed as sold out. This is upsetting as i was going to preorder 3 boxes a few days ago for a draft i was going to hold and they were already sold out. now i have questions on whether or not I will be able to get product to hold my drafts.

wow, this is disheartening... I'm suprised that WotC honestly got players to buy, i promise you none of the boxes were sold to "New" players. so they're going to sadly keep on this trend that ****s us Stabilized and Regular players in the honor of more newbie crap.

So uh should I take my foil silence off ebay before i get screwed?

I don't want this to turn into the time I sold Tarmos too early.

Too bad I can only pick up one box if this is true. :/ Probably drive up the price of the new dual lands, which sucks.

If this set sells so well with regular, veteran players (as I doubt all these people preordering the set en masse are the 'new players' WotC is supposedly marketing towards with M10), it will only encourage them to print sets more like this one. Since I dislike the set I find this fact jarring."

I agree with his observation but not his disposition. The set's success will indeed encourage them to make similar core sets, but since I really like M10 as a whole (save for certain decisions like the lack of WoG, etc) I think this will be good for the game in the long run.

If the set will truly be scarce, I'm glad I preordered 2 boxes months ago.

Dang, I was considering waiting to buy a box of M10 until I went to California in two weeks, but it looks like I'll be preordering one off of eBay or something tomorrow morning.

There's always a 3-week gap, its intentional and designed to drive sales because they will sell the most product in the first month.

In the short term anything is possible, but remember M2010 will in print for a year. Any shortages won't last so hoarding is probably a dumb idea.
