So, I just made my first EDH deck. I have been looking for ideas for weeks, compiling cards for many decks, but I never seem to have quite the right random cards/good rares to pull it off. In going through an old White Weenies deck, I stumbled upon Crovax, Ascendant Hero and started to make a deck. The premise of the deck was to get lots of quick white creatures out, make them really big and then swing for the win. It is a very fast deck. However, since Crovax costs 6 mana, when I found Pianna, Nomad Captain, I thought it would make the deck so much faster. Really, the two are interchangeable, but I will label it as a Pianna deck too make it more original. I really do like the Nomad Captain better though, it makes the deck faster. Anyway, advice would be great. Really, this deck does not do multiplayer. Thanks a lot.
since pianna's abilitys only make sense when you have at least two creatures attacking, it seems like exalted creatures might not be the best idea. More liege effects and cards that give you more than one creature at a time seem like they'd serve you the best, so definitely get a Captain of the Watch as soon as possible, as it does both. I'd also cut Coat of Arms as you have a whole bunch knights, samurai, soldiers, and other assorted weenies, but not enough of any one of them to gain more benefit than your opponents will. I'd replace it with some more good white removal, like Path to Exile or another wrath effect. My favorite is Akroma's Vengeance.
That looks like a pretty good list for a white weenie deck for a normal (highlander tournament).
In EDH, quick rushes are harder to pull off because each player starts at 40 life. In short, aggro decks need a plan B. Squeaking in some extra cards like mind's eye, eternal dragon, sacred mesa and mobilization will ensure that your deck will still have plays for the later game.
Coat of Arms is better than it looks. While not all my creatures are the same creature type, most of the times I play it it gives almost all my creatures +1/+1. Remember that while Knight and Soldier are different creature types, most of them are humans too. It leaves a few cards in the cold (like Ronom Unicorn), but it is amazing with token spells, especially Springjack Shepard. If my opponents deck is tribal (which seems unlikely in EDH), I wont cast it.
Where I play EDH, everyone told me that starting life was 30, I don't know why, but it made the early rush easier. I run the mesa already, I took out Mobilization as it 3 mana was a lot for one token. I don't see why I would ever want to play a wrath spell, most of the time, I will have the most creature heavy board, but if I had to add one, it would be Solar tide, because hopefully I could keep all my weenies. I know it might be good to prepare for a plan B, but honestly, if I haven't won by turn 7-8, I doubt I will win, so it might be better to just give up on that and focus on winning quickly.
