The problem with intruder alarm is that I tap my wizards fairly often for their own abilities; so having to rely on having a wizard to play in order to draw my cards or use my wizards is shaky.
The issue with mind over matter is that the reason for putting it into the deck is to better combo. which means I would have to cut more cards to put in a simple combo like grim monolith/power artifact/stroke/ etc.
Intruder Alarm works for everyone. So you can respond to someone else playing a creature by tapping all your wizards to draw cards and then they untap when the creature comes into play. The bonus is that other decks will have to play a creature before they can untap, so if you can counter their creatures, they wont get to untap if you want to play that game. A drawback is that if the opponents creatures are untapped, they can attack and then play a guy to untap all their guys so they are up for blocking.
I don't play intruder alarm in my version. It seems too random. I do play Mind Over Matter though. That card allows you to draw your whole deck with Azami assuming you are looking for a specific card. I play Reito Lantern and Time Spiral so that I can keep going. If you are lucky enough to get an Arcanis online with MOM in play, you can just win. Draw until you get a Tolarian Academy and you can produce infinite mana and keep drawing your deck with Arcanis.
I have begun to look at Mind Over Matter more seriously, as it seems to work well according to EVERY person who plays Azami. I most likely will not include any combo peice with it, but use it as a toolbox enchantment which allows me to get any counter-spell, artifact, or land I need to win the game.

Also, I can't include Arcanis in the deck. This is due to a 6 mana, bloated, and redundant ability that I don't need in the deck. I find fallowsage is more than enough for Mind over Matter to combo off.
The thing is you only need 1 slot to "Combo" out if you do it right assuming you are playing MoM acadamy and fallow sage.
Heres how, you find fallowsage with MoM + Azami in play, you discard to draw 2, and repeat. Once you have your entire deck in your hand/yard play tolarian acadamy/guilded lotus/any 3+ source. you next play Reito lantern put strech on top, along with X where X is irrelivant you proceed to discard enough cards to cast time strech (probably 4/5 of the 20+ in grip since you do run the wizard tutor + fallowsage) following turn you draw X where its irrelivant and go infinate EVERYTHING in your deck, and if you work acadamy up to 7+ than its instantly infinate. Reito lanternis also not as dead as it looks when just drawn because it hoses several graveyard based stratigies (reanimator, Genesis Shaaram exct)
I know its posted above but I felt like explaining it would help. In any event What do you think of dropping coat of arms for door of destinies, it seems so much better considering the tribal that exists in the format.
PS: If I am necroing this thread sorry, I just started playing Azami and I like the deck alot I found that shes the best mono blue general because she opens like 10-18 draw slots up for creatures/counters. (besides maby vendillion in 1v1) Also I found propaganda to discourage attacking you so much that it has become an inclusion in my deck because it stops token swarms and i dont like evacuation.

Mine works a little different. I try to lock the board by using Winter Orb and Static Orb .Draw my deck and win...One way i like to win is finding Emperial plate and swing with a big fat Azamy
Plate sounds cool I think I will cut sigil from my deck and play that instead. I also have taken to playing kiga alongside propaganda and guile to make alternate wins out of the combo instead of the main win. The reason for this is specificaly for pods... you want to win the first round/second round WITHOUT comboing so as not to put a target on your head for round 2. I personaly play alot of counters to police the board that way I usualy recruit a player whos playing stupid aggro to aggro the other control players by helping them keep dudes on board.
Than in the end I get to win with gigantic dragons, tezzeret, time strech, and guile/other steal effects (Bribery, aquire, desertion, spelljack) I loath being "That guy" that plays the combo out but I have it in there just so that I can race people who have stupid combos (IE Rofflecopter has tried to eat the entire board before for his measly GG after I saved every one twice I was the last one with a target but I still have the ablity to beat an entire table if they come after me too soon.
I have found discouragers to be extrodinary in this format, at least for azami

Are there any more good ones? Because I found even foil to be FANTASTIC because when you can draw 4 cards in responce discarding islands to play 0 mana counterspells. The only other ones I know of are daze and thwart both are bad for the same reason gush sucks in here.
My version has a sort of subtheme. I like to steal other peoples creatures and sacrifice them for good effects. My favorite is Protean Staff with Vedalken Shackles. You steal their guy, then activate the staff putting it on the bottom of their deck, but you oath your deck. On top of that, Protean Staff is really good for getting rid of pesky generals or just annoying creatures in general.
I also play as many combo's as possible because I try to keep my Azami list competative. (I have tokens for my casual list.) I play vendilion clique/hinder and tunnel vision. I play the top/future sight/helm of awakening combo. Basically, if I get Azami in play with a Mind Over Matter, I win.
Hey new to the forum. Looking at some Azami lists and I am not seeing this guy. seems pretty good for this deck. Just wanted some feedback if anybody knew whether or not he worked. Oh I'm talking aboutVedalken AEthermage.
