While reading the Metroid manga, it inspired me to work on another EDH deck. With a little searching, I found a general that hardly anyone seems to use, has a huge impact on the game, and fits the flavor of the deck to the T: Malfegor.
The basis of this deck is simple: Kill and destroy! Blow stuff up and don't let your opponent get back into the game! Blow up their lands. Blow up their creatures. Blow up their artifacts. Blow up... whatever! Nothing survives.
Testing on MWS has given me some pretty prominsing results with this deck so far.
I built this deck for 1v1 play, but it also can be very easily turned into a multiplayer deck if needed. Being able to wipe out everyone's creatures with Malfegor is huge.
The main plan of the deck is to play the control game and just disrupt the hell out of your opponent with the removal spells/discard/LD/etc. that you have at your disposal. The tutors in the deck are great at getting cards that will put your opponent in a serious bind; for example a Crucible/Strip Mine lock or a Flowstone Flood lock.
I've been pretty happy as well with how well the deck can do without having to rely on Malfegor. The card drawing and tutoring helps to increase the consistency in the deck to find the disruptive cards you need to keep your opponent down. And that's good, considering you have to dump your entire hand to Malfegor when you cast him. It's worth it though. Being able to have all your opponent's get Edicted out of their creatures is just amazing. It bypasses Uril's trollshroud, gets around any indestructible creatures or anything with shroud, and it also takes out Progenitus
Another cool thing to note is that Malfegor does not target his opponents. This means cards such as Ivory Mask are hopeless at stopping Malfegor from wiping out their army as well as keeping the triggered ability from being redirected (Willbender, I'm looking at you).
This is basically another EDH deck I made for fun since I love to blow stuff up, especially lands.
IMO, the secret to Malefegor is permanents that manage and refill your hand. For instance, an Armillary Sphere is equal to Cruel Edicting everyone twice.
Black Market is especially insane with Malefegor at the helm.
There's also some suspend synergy. For instance, I honestly think Wheel of Fate might augment or replace Wheel of Fortune.
Basically, my Malefegor deck empties most of its hand with board and hand controlling permanents, because you really don't need to discard more than a few cards to clear the board.
BRG Xira Arien BRG UR Melek, Izzet Paragon UR WUG Jenara, Asura of War WUG WRG Mayael the Anima WRG WB Triad of Fates WB BG Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest BG BR Rakdos, Lord of Riots BR WR Aurelia the Warleader WR WBG Ghave, Guru of Spores WBG WUBRG Horde of Notions WUBRG
Good calls on Wheel of Fate and Memory Jar. Both of those cards give me more draw 7 effects to keep going. And I really do like the synergy with suspending Wheel of Fate and Malfegor.
Mindslaver looks to get cut since it feels like it's been a win-more card, and I usually can't do too much to screw my opponent because they've been nailed by a ton of my destruction.
I'm thinking:
-1 Mindslaver
-1 Shred Memory (?)
+1 Jar
+1 Wheel of Fate
