From the tournament rules going into effect on october, 1st:
Other than basic land, only cards from the expansions of the boosters opened (and only cards opened in that player’s pool) may be used in a player’s deck. For example, in a Magic 2010 Sealed Deck tournament, any card in a booster other then the Magic 2010 game cards received by the player and basic land may not be used in a player’s deck during that tournament. Note that this explicitly says "any card in a booster" and thus is not just referring to adding cards from somewhere else or switching cards. This rule explicitly talks about cards in a booster which are NOT FROM THAT BOOSTER'S EXPANSION. I hope the official tournament rules are not deemed too silly a source for a rumor? Maybe some bright brain tried putting a token or rules card in the deck and they noticed they didnt specifically state not to do it?
All in all not remarkable. |

Are there ever issues with random cards from other sets being packaged in boosters?
EDIT: Or what sqeetschy said. Other than that, maybe a hint at things to come? |

I don't get it. Is it to stop people from proxying in sealed events or what?

The TC is implying that this could mean that the rumor topic that was up a little while ago, stating that classic cards from Magic's past would appear as "Secret Rares" in Zen boosters, could be a reality.

Rule seems to pertain only to Sealed and Booster events, per the wording. Which makes sense.

Just looks like a correction to mispacking. I'm lazy, but there should be at least 2 posts somewhere about getting a card from some other random pack in a tourney.

Yes, I do care. If you cannot find the magic tournament rules by yourself, you're out of luck, I'm afraid.
That would be a really strange way to refer to token cards, which are obviously not magic cards and have no magic card back, and thus could be a lot easier addressed than with "cards from the expansions of the boosters opnened".

I've never seen it myself, but I've heard people claim that their booster packs have had cards from other expansions before. I don't know how this is possible, but maybe that's why the rule is in place? In case something like that accidently happens?

Isn't that just talking about sealed? You shouldn't be using different versions of your cards in limited no matter what...

Furthermore I am implying that the way the mill treats people who in all honesty post rumors (as opposed to knowingly posting fakes) is just a shame. Even if there is no substance to a rumor at all (and how would you know, if you do not even bother to track down its source?), it is eminently rude and contrproductive to the idea of a rumor mill.
