This Week in Magic The All-foil booster for $11.99?!? - Available January 8, 2010 - Each of these boosters contains fifteen foil, black-bordered cards from Shards of Alara, Conflux, and Alara Reborn. From the Vault: Relics TCGplayer.com is proud to present our Zendikar update to the drafting utility. Free Zendikar Drafting! Get in there and draft away against our draft robots. As always, by the end of this first week the robots will be drafting at a FNM level and will improve steadily over the next few weeks. Zendikar Game Day is 10/31! Arron Forsythe twittered More unique individuals played in sanctioned MTG events in the past 365 days than in any such period EVER. Sick! Magic rules update has been published. EDH is now acknowledged in the rules Late breaking news from Chris from Kentucky. Priceless treasures may be Double rare slot instead of lands! What Have We Been Playing? Eric has been getting his Draft on. Listener Emails Kyle S writes in: On the note of the reserve list: Feroz's Ban was printed in 7th Ed while on the Reserved list and the list was updated before onslaught came out (about 1 year and a half later) for Clone when Feroz's Ban was removed. The reserve list is mentioned by players but is hasn't mattered in 12 years. Also i think that this will bring up the price of power due to the new interest in Vintage. Zachary C writes in: Confirms that many of the "Priceless treasure" cards appear to have previously been in circulation. His local pre-release saw a Phyrexian Dreadnaught, minty fresh Badlands and a "jank Mirrodin rare". He also agrees that the health of Magic seems very good and compares it to the influx of new players when Revised was on the streets. He would also like to see the promotions continue and an EDH promo! Robert L writes in: He would love to see a video podcast of Gavin and Conley playing some matches. He also defends the (horrific) Gatsby sandwich. He also helps Tom with his Dutch pronounciation: On the Dutch front, the name you were trying to pronounce had an “ij” in it, this set of letters is the “long y” sound (almost like a “y”). In Scrabble in Dutch the “ij” appears on one tile. Jake H writes in: Started out solely collecting MTG cards with no interest in playing until "Duels of the Planeswalkers" came out for the Xbox which led him to MTGO where he has been playing solidly for the past few months. Dustin B writes in: His local store received plenty of Zendikar stock and feels the "shortage" is simply the increased demand for this set for multiple reasons. Quote from Dustin: "my blow dryer in the restaurant I work in has the bacon on it. I tried pointing this out a couple of times and my co workers just look at me like I'm crazy." Liam from Edmonton writes in: He is excited for all of the new discussion and interest in eternal formats, but is tough since few players in his area play Vintage or Legacy. Tom gives Kudos to Elie from Belgium for a fantastic "spoof" of the typical Monday Night Magic show notes! PrsGirl wrote in and stated that she wants Jack to start a twitter. response: I'm looking into it! Kyle F writes in: Demands an apology for our attack on the noble beast, Pillarfield Ox. Here is his story: The situation: it's game three, round three in our local prerelease. I've just wrathed (ok, "judged") the board, wiping 4 of my opponents creatures and a poor kor skyfisher. I then played a eternity vessel, putting on a healthy 16 charge counters on it. I have three lands in my hand and a pillarfield ox. My opponent has two ior ruin expeditions, and nothing else. My cow hits the board and whittles my opponent to four life. My opponent then proceeds to topdeck every ally in his deck. I draw some lucky removal, and the occasional threat, but he's got me against the wall. Luckily, I have two things going for me. One: I'm mana flooded. I'm able to make a land drop every turn I need two. Two: I have an ox. With a NET. On multiple occasions did my opponent have enough power to take me out. But he couldn't. His army of adventurers, hardened by traveling the deadly perils of zendikar, attacking in coordinated barrages, were no match for my cow and his doubtlessly slobbery net. His murasa pyromancer never attacked, knowing fully well the doom he awaited were he to come face to face with my noble ox. Certainly, my eternity vessel and knowing when to play lands were important to this victory. But when my opponent *ran out of cards in his library* (and no, I hadn't cast a *single* mill effect), many, MANY turns later, I knew I owed my victory to that noble cow and his net. I have a deckbox of retired cards that are special to me. My force of nature, that I recieved in a trade for a savanah. (I was ten.) My first fnm and magic game day prizes. My first cards (ornithopter and shatter, found on the road). That pillarfield ox has earned his place in that box, for decking an opponent in limited, in a deck with no decking cards whatsoever. Curt S has a question: What does it mean when I buy product from a company who has the “authorized Wizards reseller” brand? See to the right for the full story if you want to read it. Ron W is looking to get some extended art cards and is wondering if they are okay to use in tournaments? (link to official WoTC stance of altered cards, and they are usually fine unless the extended art leads to confusion by obscuring the card title / casting cost / text box. Final decision is up to the head judge of the given event. ) Matthew R is greatly enjoying playing EDH and is currently pimping out a Sharuum deck with Mishra's Workshop, darksteel forge, mana crypt, umezawa's jitte, marsh flats, maze of ith, scrubland, tundra, undergound sea. He has a few questions for the hosts and listeners: 1) do you guys play with or against proxies? 2) what is the best play/game/mistake have you guys made in EDH? The Dood wonders if anyone else has heard of "uncommon heavy" packs of Zendikar with 8 uncommons? Paul S. III had a great time at his Zendikar pre-release playing both days and some great pulls from his packs: Sat = misty rainforest and marsh flats along with two Luminarch Ascension (one foil!) with a Obsidian Fireheart Sun = Lotus Cobra a Obsidian Fireheart another Luminarch Ascension Sorin Markov and two World Queller's (one foil again!) Kenyon from Japan reports he was able to open a "priceless" Plateau in a pack while drafting this weekend! MTGCast News Mr. Suitcase Has a new episode out. I was on the main forum page with all the forums listed and this topic was the last replied to. I could only see:
"I'm all out of" The first and only thing that came to mind and made me click the topic is: "It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all outta gum." lol, surprised it actually was from that badass movie. I love cheesy lame horrors.

Your logic is illogical.

The artist who was going on about saying that art alters should be illegal/he should be able to sue for copyright infringement was Edward P. Beard, whose most notable card is a psychatog In the thread, one or two other card artists have chimed in after being requested.
I personally play with 3 proxies in my EDH deck. (Taiga, demonic tutor, bitterblossom) and our playgroup allows for 5 proxies + any cards you own but are decked otherwise, like in the standard deck you're using at the FNM. However I am of the opinion that if you're going to proxy, at least make them look nice instead of just crossing out the type line of a basic land and doodle on it.
