I posted a question a while ago about conspiracy where I have battletide alchemist out and a conspiracy naming rebel, everyone ruled that the alchemist would not prevent any damage because conspiracy replaces creature types.
But I just checked gatherer, it states that it does not replace creature types.
Why is this true while conspiracy does not state 'in addition to their other types' on it?
It's true because Conspiracy does replace creature types. Instead of having the creatures keep their own types and gain Rebel, it just makes them become Rebels.

I think you miss read the ruleing. It doesn't replace creature types in rules text... IE your Battletide Alchemist still says Clerics not Rebels on the ability in it's text.

10/4/2004 It does not replace any use of creature types in card text.
Card text (or rules text) is a different part of the card than creature type. Creature types appear on the type line (after "Creature --"). Card/rules text is all the text in the actual text box of the card. So if a card refers to a certain creature type in its rules text, that doesn't change, even if its creature type (as indicated on the type line) does.

Thanks for clearing this up for me
