Dec FNM - Sakura-Tribe Elder

Heard from an organizer that Sakura-Tribe Elder will be the Dec FNM.

It seems to be an odd choice because they've already done 1 promo foil of it (not for FNM, but for JSS). Granted it wasn't alternate art though. I always thought the JSS foils (Tribe Elder, Giant Growth, Solatri Priest) were hotter as JSS promos than they would've been with alternate art. They have repeated promo foils before though (Mogg Fanatic).

How come the FNM foils are either bombs (Oblivion Ring) or crap (Watchwolf)? Can't we at least get something that is some sort of staple in some regular format?

I'd rather have the JSS. The foil pattern is ridic. If these are just surplus JSS ones, I'll be annoyed.

Yet again another Non Type-2 Promo.I was sure they were going to start doing type 2 cards when they released Oblivion Ring as the promo for November. Im not sure how I feel about this if its true. On the one hand, I love Sakura Tribe Elder, but Im not also not a fan of getting promos of cards i dont have much use for anymore. Most FNM's are Standard Constructed. Why would I want to play Standard and receive an extended legal promo? Where are my Standard playables? There are plenty of cards in the current standard that would make fine FNM promos. The Charm cycle from Shards for example. 3 out of the 5 see pretty decent amounts of play. Why not have those as FNM promos?

sakura tribe elder used to be a boss when you could put dmg on the stack, he even saw play in legacy.

I still wish they would pick things that were never foiled before, but that excludes most of what is out there since it's not in extended anymore. That or make them rare to bump up the amount of people showing up for FNM's.

What a great card. I'd be really excited to get these. I would be more excited about a functional reprint. This guy would be I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E in Standard right now.

as a standard player I agree that the FNM foil should be a card that can be play in standard or a card that was never was foil that newer player have a hard time getting aka the old duel lands and I don't mean the power of 9 stuff that will be too mean lol.

but seriously the FNM cards have been in and out of numerous formats. the last couple have been T2. I guess going back to extended isn't that bad. keeps some of the older players who want extended cards to coming to FNM.

Of course, endless complaining about a great card. You guys realize it is playable in multiple formats, and will only get better the more ext rotates.

I'm not saying that's it's a bad card just nerfed, and the trend for T2 cards has been on for so long that some people are dreading nonT2 for the same duration. personally Its an okay card but not my favorite

The card shifts between Extended and Standard. Such has been the practice. I for one welcome our new STE overlords for my EDH decks. Both of which will be sporting one of these. I look forward to it.
