I made this deck purely for casual and just wanted to show it off a bit. I am pretty sure it has at least passed someone's mind once or twice before as well. So here it is:
I haven't put a lot of thought into the deck, but that is the skeleton of the list. I got started thinking about this for a couple of reasons. I recently ran into a play set of Alpha Grizzly Bears (which was really exciting because I have never owned any alpha cards before), and also, I saw Muraganda Petroglyphs on the official magic website the other day. That was all it took. I was inspired.
Overrun instead of Overwhelming Stampede because three is better than two, and I only have 6 cards that would make it other than 2 as compared to 20 or more cards to say it's 2.
As of now I am just fancying up this deck. Ihave all the cards I need for it, but now I am just getting the edition/set that I want of each card and altering some of the arts. Mostly I am altering the forests, but I also am working on a sketch to put over the art on Overrun, because I want it to be BEARS!
Haha, cool. The Ashcoat should be replaced. As you said, Garruk and Overrun would be fantastic, Garruk especially since the Beast tokens get the Petroglyphs bonus. You don't need 4 Bearscape.
I don't normally like Coat of Arms, but it fits in the deck.

I see what you mean about Bearscape... I think I may lower that down to 2. It will be cool to exile the dead bears to get more bears, b/c there will be no recursion.
I know the Ashcoat Bear isn't exactly a Grizzly Bear clone, but I still think he is cool. Maybe if I find too much more to put in I will take him out put for the moment I like him in here.
I grew up thinking Coat of Arms was the greatest card of all time... but the more I use it... the more I hate it. So I am going to try not to.
I know it's not vanilla and doesn't get the Petroglyphs bonus, but if you're building a Bear deck and leave out Werebear, you're doing it wrong.
Words of Wilding is really solid. If you play where you get longer games, Words can generate a substantial advantage in topdeck wars AND prevent you from decking against mill.
Beastmaster Ascension for this is totally awesome, especially since you can add a couple counters early, then EoT Bearscape a few guys in and have a surprise megapump without commiting any extra cards to the field.
I'm not sure how fast you want this deck to be, but Grizzly Fate fills up the battlefield pretty fast and doubles in strength when you get to threshold.
If you can afford them, Oran-Rief, the Vastwood can be absolutely brutal in a deck like this.
Just some suggestions. I really like the skeleton you've got going so far.

I see a lot of your good points.
The idea is all about the Grizzly Bear copies. I feel like, since the deck really is just for fun, I want it to be solid to the theme, as much a possible. Werebear is fun, and I actually have 1 copy of him in the side board, but he really just isn't for this deck.
The more I think about it, I have no reason on not putting Words of Wilding into the list. Trust me I understand the benefits.
Once again, the theme kinda ruled out beastmaster ascension. I love the card, because I am a huge fan of the crazy big green goodness, but all those damn tigers... =( If only they had been bears.
Grizzly fate Could be fun. I may try that. Seems to be a pain to play with Bearscape, because Fate will remove itself, or scape with remove all else...
THANK YOU! I had been thinking about it but forgot to ask about lands. Yes this sounds like the good kind of land I need.
Okay... get the art for your copies of Beastmaster Ascension altered. My friend does alterations, and he's pretty good, so I'm thinking about doing that myself for some cards (i.e. Arnold on my playset of Terminate). And those Petroglyphs don't really show bears either and B.A. costs 1 less, so... c'mon run the friggen thing.
Greater Good combo with Words of Wilding is just as good as Bearscape in terms of getting an entire army out of nowhere. (Do this when your hand is empty in most cases) When it gets to your draw, replace the draw with a bear. Sack the bear to Greater good to draw two cards, then replace those with a bear each. You can continue the process until you run out of mana. And since your hand is empty, you don't have to worry about discarding cards from Greater Good. And if you have a pumper like Petroglyphs out, a bear you would sack would net you 4 cards, so 5 mana would get you 4 bears (a better cost ratio than your average 2 with this deck).
My other suggestion is to run Steely Resolve so pesky lightning bolts don't blast your bears to pieces.

I know what you mean, but I still have two problems with Beastmasters. Not only the artwork, but also the card doesn't fit the theme as well as the Petroglyphs, and I don't have any BAs ( and if I did they would be in my standard right now).
As for the greater good... WOW, at first I didn't get it, but it just hit me. That is really cool. I will definitly have to try that. I don't own the Greater goods either, but I think I know someone who does.
Is 20 lands going to bee too few for this deck?
My highest cost is 4, but I keep adding more and more of them...
I love ashcoat bears and its awesome that you are running them!
Over the weekend I was playing some casual games with a friend of mine. He has this 4 color landstill deck with 4 proxy black lotuses in it. I actually ended up winning against him once by flashing like three ashcoat bears into play in response to him playing standstill. He said he didn't expect that at all but yeah that pretty much won me the game at that point. It was pretty sweet.

I like ashcoat bear too, but is flash considered an "ability" such as what Muraganda Petroglyphs specifies against?
Or is there another term for keywords, and he would get the +2/+2?
Yeah, Flash means no Petroglyphs. Speaking of which, it suddenly struck me that Petroglyphs doesn't work with Overrun or Garruk's final ability thanks to trample. Huge bummer. Steely Resolve doesn't work either thanks to Oracle updates. An alternative pump source is Gaea's Anthem.
Words comboes with Kavu Lair and Petroglyphs pretty well. If you're worried about lands, Land Grant could work. It's better than Rampant Growth here IMO.
Kamahl's Summons might work in this deck, and at the very least fits your theme well. Nothing like revealing your hand to say "Lolz its more bears."
BTW, you wouldn't happen to be from Chicago would you
Nah, I am from Louisiana. Why's that... one of your friends, or some guy at your card shop talk about something similar to this deck?
About Kamahl's Summons. It's cool, but I just don't think my hand will ever be that full after turn five or so, especially not with the help of Words of Wilding preventing me from drawing my cards.
It does fit and I may add it if I can't get something else important.

Wow... you are very right...
Well that may help make some exectutive decisions in the end of it all.
I do like the idea of Kavu Lair. If I have one Petro and a Words out then I get a bear for each mana I can produce. It sounds cool, but it is a three card combo, and might not work too well, but when it does work, I will be very happy.
Basically this is the list I am leaning towards as well.
I just don't know if I want to put that many lands in there I might drop 2 forests for my two Bearscape.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the bears will not enter the battlefield as a 4/4, so it will not trigger Kavu Lair. They enter the battlefield as a 2/2, and then immediately get boosted. It's kind of like creatures with shroud - they can still be countered, because the abilities don't affect the creature until it resolves.
Same thing with Steely Resolve, your bears, as they are played, would not have shroud. Only once they're in play.

Yeah, Flash is a type of ability so yeah ashcoat wouldn't work with muraganda petroglyphs. Although, there are plenty of vanilla creatures around.
I should like build a casual deck with muraganda petroglyphs since it could be fun to play the deck.

Make as many bears as you like in exchange for your hand (if any) and mana. Beastmaster Ascension is a must.

4 Giant Growth
4 Muraganda Petroglyphs
4 Words of Wilding
4 Harmonize
2 Bearscape
2 Garruk Wildspeaker
4 Oran-Reif the Vastwood
16 Forest
Harmonize could probably go... I took Ashcoat Bear out as well.
Can anyone else think of any good non-basic lands???

Greater Good combo with Words of Wilding is just as good as Bearscape in terms of getting an entire army out of nowhere. (Do this when your hand is empty in most cases) When it gets to your draw, replace the draw with a bear. Sack the bear to Greater good to draw two cards, then replace those with a bear each. You can continue the process until you run out of mana. And since your hand is empty, you don't have to worry about discarding cards from Greater Good. Even with the 2/2 theme a Golden Bear or 4 is worth considering. He's still a vanilla bear, afterall.
Words of Wilding belongs with Sylvan Library
Grafted Wargear is a pretty good equipment that won't interfere with the Petroglyphs.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the bears will not enter the battlefield as a 4/4, so it will not trigger Kavu Lair.
