I was lured in EDH Magic by a friend who convinced me that my EDH deck would be very much like my Presidential Library, honouring my life record as a Magic player throughout the past 13 years of my Magic-playing days. I was given the following advice to start with: Play any of your favourite cards throughout your Magic playing days.
With that, I built an EDH deck with 1v1 games in mind. Despite my 13 years in Magic, I did not really have that much of a collection so my choices were rather limited. I eventually settled on a blue-white controllish build, simply because I had more blue and white cards than any other cards -- besides that, I have always been awed by the sheer power level of Treachery and Palinchron along with White's uncanny ability to turn symmetry to their advantage.
With that in mind, I dug deep into my collections and whipped up this draw-go build from my collections (I traded for some of those stuff): -
Note: Card classification is a matter of definition and different players may have differing interpretation on the use of the cards
A few notes. The ridiculous amount of card quality is simply because I just couldn't find any copies of my Mystical Tutor so yeah, I may have to buy them pretty soon. In place of them, I am expected to make way for: -
Muddle the Mixture
Drift of Phantasms
When Muddle does come in, I would probably remove the Sphinx of Jwar Isle for a Luminarch Ascension and maybe another utility spell. Not too sure about it yet though so yeah, any suggestions would help.
What I am currently uncomfortable with is the soft counterspells -- specifically Mana Tithe. I expect that that would exit in favour of Muddle the Mixture. Daze is pretty iffy too though Miscalculate and Complicate redeems itself by being cyclable. Though I should point out that it is fun to play mind games with these soft counters -- I snagged a Teneb using a mana tithe.
Also, after typing out my entire deck, it does seem a little light on board sweepers so any suggestions in that area would be helpful too. I am thinking of adding in Day of Judgment or Austere Command there somewhere though there is something sexy about Nevinyrral's Disk + Capsize abuse....
