Howdy. I'm usually unlucky, but back in Rav block, I actually pulled two Doubling Seasons from packs. Funny, they are expensive now... I've been playing this for a while, but maybe I've overlooked something. Goals are first, then the list, then possible evolution of the deck, then lastly, Tips and Tricks below.
Goals:
- D. Seasons likes two things: creature tokens and counters on your stuff. Incorporate both.
- Graft is fun and works nice with Seasons.
- Make lots of 1/1 creature tokens.
Evolution:
- 61 cards, some singles; what to change?
- If you have $, up Doubling Season.
- Switch to more effective token makers; Call of the Herd? Beast Attack? Garruck Wildspeaker? Or just stick with mass 1/1s for the swarm route...
- Never been disappointed with Sprout Swarm. Up count? Same with Ovinize.
- The weird creature types inspired me to use Pong and Ovinize; your control could vary.
Tips and Tricks:
- Pongify is nice; wait till something is coming your way to Ape it to set them back a turn. If you have D.Seasons, you can Pong something of yours for 2 3/3s in a pinch!
- Ovinize works great to kill something with one of your 1/1s.
- If you ever get Doubling Season and Saproling Burst, you should win!
- Wormfang is competitive; losing a 1/1 for a 3/4 2U flier is nothing to sneeze at.
- Use 1/1s to muck up the ground war, then graft your fliers to large sizes to finish. If that doesn't work, overwhelm with sheer numbers!
- Momir and Keep Watch give you cards.
I like ovinize better than pongify. thats just me, tho, cuz you could turn 1/1s into 3/3s with pong.
i'd also up the kind of simic signets and take out the lenses.
sprout swarm is a nice thing, but also up the count of chatter of the squirrel. fast, fast convoke.
Not sure if you're dead set on swarm combat as a win condition, but Epic Struggle would be ridiculous in here. I can't see this deck having any trouble getting up to 20 creatures. Genesis Chamber may not be a bad idea either (although if you're generating mostly tokens already, it may not be so effective), especially if you pair it with Skullclamp as a draw option ('clamp gets straight-out silly in token decks). The only other thing I could suggest would maybe be adding some countermagic, or stuff like Temporal Spring (which has already been mentioned) or some bounce. Maybe Overrun or Garruk Wildspeaker to pump up your creatures for the kill?
