Hello Vs. fans and welcome to the first week of the second official Vs. tournament. The first tourney saw 16 super-heroes battle it out for logic and votes and we saw the Incredible Hulk crowned as MTGS’s personal hero. But what are heroes without villains?
Over the coming weeks we here at the Vs. Institute will be pitting two well-known villains against each other and letting you determine the outcome.
We’ve been working on a line-up for the past few weeks and, just like last time, there are a few participants that may surprise you. First time around it’s

President Alexander “Lex” Luthor of the United States of America. He would sit in the oval office, in the throne like chair he moved in from his home, and repeat his title to himself before he began work each day. His work remaking the most powerful country on earth into his most powerful weapon.
He didn't get there by himself though. His campaign manager, Mercy Cooper had a lot to do with it. He had to crawl his way up the top, handing out promises and bribes to whoever might get in his way, and Ms. Cooper was able to find out who should get what with supernatural skill.
Of course, Mercy Cooper isn’t her real name, and that face she wears isn’t actually hers. Lex had figured out halfway through the campaign that she more often has blue skin and wears skulls. Now that the election is over, it just might be time to separate himself her before she fulfills whatever purpose she has for him.
Of course, Mystique, never goes undercover without a contingency plan. . . .
I go with the shapesifting mutant. Mystic is devous powerful and knows how to play the political game (and the politcal assasination/inpersnate that guy game) REALLY well. Lex can deal with super man becuase he has morals and RULES... Mystic has NONE she would happly kill him she also has mutant friends (like Magneto her lover) no contest.
I hate to ask this but since its such a clear blowout (logicly) can we skip to the next round?
I wouldn't call it a blowout. Lex Luthor is one of the smartest persons in the DCU. Some put him above or at least on par with Brainiac and that means he's smarter than Batman.
It's not just that he's survived this long because Superman is a boy scout, he's been able to nearly destroy one of the most powerful beings in the universe an a monthly basis for 50 odd years without any powers himself aside from his own mind.
His only real downfall is his own arrogance and Mystique has the same problem.

i have to side with lex luther, he is a super genius and would be as dodavehu said would be able to defeat a B-list charater if hes grappled with super man for all these years.

I've always seen Luthor as the "evil" Batman. Just like Bats, Luthor always has a contingency plan and he always does his homework.
My guess would be that Luthor would have figured Mystique's true identity a long time ago and was simply waiting to see what scheme she was working on, so he would be on his guard, waiting for her to make her move.
I'm sure Luthor won't last too long against other super villains, but he can certainly kill Mystique if he needs to.

It is always easy to be tolerant and understanding...Until someone presents an opinion completely opposite to your own.
Question is this advanced or lesser power Mystique. This might have considerably difference in the fight. (namely the fact that I am always fully body armoured and can make blasters from my own body helps win fights) Mystique is no slouch in the brains department either (not saying she is as smart as lex ) They both are contiangcy politcal master foes. However Lex's lack of powers IMO puts him at a distenct disadvantage one that will ultimately make him lose.
I can't see Lex winning this one, since Mystique can still kick some ass when she needs to, and will slip away even if caught. At best it's a draw for Lex Luther.

Most likely Mystique, seeing as how she can then proceed to tear down everything Lex has worked for. (As has been said before, she knows how to play the political game)
Lex wins this one. He has superior planning and intelligence. Being able to blend in isn't going to save mystiqe from anything here. Lex has had the upper hand on her since discovering her and that was about 6 months ago. Within that timeframe he should have been able to calculate thousands of scenarios to take her out with no possible risk to himself.

In an eight player game, is anything good? Don't you just sit there countering combos until someone genesis waves for 42 after all the blue players tap out fighting over a bribery?
I'm going to have to go with Lex on this one. I wouldn't be surprised if he could make some sort of device that would allow him to track Mystique no mater what form she took. She would never be able to get near him and if need be he could always send some good goodie super heros after her. He is president in this senerio after all.
sorry if im necroing but its on the first page so yea. i will have to say lex mystique is no dummy but compared to lex its like looking at a run down shack of a doll house and the empire state building. the second he found out her true identity he would deduce that she had some hidden motive. but this fight all comes down to the information at hand for both party's if mystique has more info she would win because she can set up traps and assassinations at her leisure but if lex had more info as to what the set up has said he will win. mainly because of those 6 months he has massive resources at his disposal such he can create a serum that forces mutants to lose control of their powers in a painful way but has no effect on humans other than the taste of sweet nutmeg. so i will say lex will win because in the fight between two smart people who has the most information will aways win
Lex Luthor has already realized that she's more or less not a human. She probably doesn't realize he knows. If he has the chance to strike first, he'd easily win. Sure, she'd wipe the floor with him in a fist fight, but any time Lex is given time to prepare, it's hard for him to lose. And if he knows he can't win, he's not going to get into a fight. Either way, Lex comes out on top.

If Lex knows about her and has had at least six months to work with that knowlege I think it reasonable that he is prepared for any betrayal.
