Default Colorless w/o Artifacts

ok so basically it looks like the Eldrazi will be a creature type that's colorless, but not an artifact ala ghostfire and walking atlas

What possible uses can we get out of this? First we had colored artifacts, now we have colorless non-artifacts that aren't land. Ideas?

Will Rise be a set about color vs colorless?

Well this is debated quite some time, but yes. I do think the Eldrazi are colourless creatures.

Having an artifact border though, that was kinda akward.

Then again, just read the cards peeps no colour reading

That border thing is really annoying. It's going to be too easy to assume it's an artifact and try to kill it as such. This could be a real issue with new players if the third set features many of these artifact-bordered-but-not-artifact cards.

I thought Wizards had learned from Mirrodin! We were like "It's too hard to tell our white card from our artifacts" and so they made the artifacts grayer. So why did they forget all the sudden?

Not susceptible to artifact hate.
Not abusable by the likes of affinity. I mention this because its assumed Eldrazi will be big expensive creatures/spells.

As weird as it seems, I always did like the brown card frame, though that's probably because I got to play broken things like tanglewire, grim monolith, voltaic key and masticore.

It's strange that the card is not an artifact, maybe they'll update the rules and just say constructs = artifact creatures, though that seems pretty unlikely.

The only problem with that idea is that it would be a typo across multiple languages. I'm sure somebody would have caught that. So, it's not a typo.

The artifact border was a mistake, clearly. But perhaps it was a deliberate mistake, if that makes any sense. It gets people talking, that's for sure.

Walking Atlas is a huge mistake. It has an artifact creature type and an artifact border.

Now, whether it's the "typo" kind of mistake (good) or the "we just did a stupid thing design-wise and didn't think it through for even five seconds" kind of mistake (bad) is yet to be seen.

If RotE is full of non-artifact colorless creatures and they're printed in artifact frames I already don't want to play with it. I rely way too heavily on being able to spot this stuff visually, it's just going to be a stressful experience having to constantly check this sort of thing during play.

I think using a new "colorless" border would've gotten people talking more positively overall.

Yes. But add to this the fact that WWK has a bunch of out-of-place artifact hosers and I'm starting to feel like WotC has something up their sleeve. Now, they've bungled things pointlessly before and I'm sure they'll do it again, but this just seems like WotC has expended too much mental energy in the direction of these themes for them not to be purposeful, somehow.

I guess we'll see when RoE / Mirrodin 2 comes out. I'm somewhat skeptical of WotC's judgment after "kicker without limits" but I still give them the benefit of the doubt.

No way it's a typo if all the languages have the same thing ... I mean, come on, someone would have noticed.
Hey, maybe all artifact creatures are going to be Constructs from now on!

I think it's just some kind of test to see if we need to have new borders or are we going to go along with the old ones ... It's only one card for now!

If it's on purpose and not a mistake I feel the whole cardtype Artifact has been devalued in the last few years. Nowadays they can tack it on colored cards and they even take it away from cards now.

Maybe they just didn't want green the artifact-hating color the ability to easily kill this card, because the card just feels green in every way.
