The night before states I decided I would come up with a metagame deck that I figured wouldnt be played very much by the entire field but should do some good. funnily enough I couldnt get the last 4 cards for the board and just threw it to a firend of mine to play with;
He went 3-1 before he went home to go see his gf;
personally I just started testing the deck, but you all know me Ill have some results of my own before too long. I would just like to point out at my states 3 of a deck like this top 16ed at my states and 1 top 8ed, granted none of them splashed black I feel its a solid arcehtype. The friend of mine who played this is a self-admitted awful player and I witnessed him even play a game before where he lost to double, yes DOUBLE squee, goblin nabob, so 3-1 is nothing to shake a stick at.

Hats off to [BB18 & IBTG], you've found something that may be THE deck to beat post rotation.
i played against a deck like that... only withough the black.... and the thing that kept me on my tips was the meloku with counter backup.... i think you need some more countering... of course 4 hinder should be enough against most decks if you play it correctly, but against heavy creature hate... you might have a problem.
i am also asuming cranial and threds sb right?

What about dropping a Meloku and a Arashi for two Doubling Seasons and maybe swap out something else for two or three Fists of Ironwood. You need to get those Kudzu trampling. Plus the seasons will be doubling your Jitte counters too, turning them into fatty removal as well.
Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
Themchops, is that an attempt for snideness? like, are you joking right now? Obviously squee is not code for something... I was pointing out that at one time or another I saw this person get beat by 2 squee which is ironic because he is a LEGEND...
STR8 I agree I need to get another counter in there somewhere, probably mana leak. But the only slot that I see you being able to play around with is the arashi slot and hes pretty decent.
I refuse to run doubling season...
Id like it to be kept in mind that this isnt the decks for critique forum, this is an established archetype that has done well at multiple champs events. so please keep your comments on point with that line of thinking.... doubling season...jeesh.

Isn't this Flores' updated Critical Mass deck splashing black? I dunno, seems good. If you don't want to splash black the putrefies can come out easily enough for Mana Leaks, which are amazing right now.
I was running black far before Flores got his grimey mits on this archetype... That man is such a capitalist, the list he posted on swimming with the sharks for MUC, which he said there to be the tightest list he could come up with was insanely different than the list he actually ran, that he posted on the PREMIUM section of SCG... basically I think he is a joke.
Im not sure though that mana leak is better than putrefy though.

wow. man IBTG. the guy made a suggestion just like everyone else, you could have said. "no. I don't like it cause of *blah*". i think Doubling Season could be a Decent card in this. you get Two tokens out of Meloku, kudzu gets 2 counters. now granted it maybe a win more card and probably is, but even as an established archtype it doesn't mean you should just dismiss something because you think its a "casual" card.
At any rate, I like the List and the black for putrefy is nice. Scarab would be decent in place of arashi. I like using the Gate lands with the kudzu. but oboro works too. i'd have to agree that kudzzy needs trample. i dunno about fists, i think o-naginata or even Loxodon Warhammer would be better, but thats just one persons opinion..
i like jushi alot.. i just thought he was always a bit fragile, how does it work out for ya?

doubling season is a horrible card. the presence of it in this forum is disgusting to me. if we are going to talk about it then click back a few times and go into the casual thread. it has NO PLACE here.
kudzu doesnt need trample if ur playin black for putrefy...
also xyver u are not ibtg's mom so if ur gonna bash him, PM him ur address so he can come to ur house and teach u how to play magical cards.
but honestly I cant take anyone seriously who says I should play doubling season and loxodon warhammer...
Ive been typing up top 8 decklists all day and I am seriously tired of how many times I have had to write Vinelasher Kudzu as it appeared in many top 8 lists, none of which had a way to give it trample.

Based off the lists I have seen that made top 8, I would look to try the following:
-3 Jushi Apprentice (to the SB along with the 4th copy)
-3 Arashi (2 in the SB)
-2 Swamp (Unless you have double black in the SB, Reaching/StE for 1 is all you need)
+4 Mana Leak
+2 Overgrown Tomb (in place of the Swamps, fetchable with Wood Elves)
+2 Keiga
Eight counters seems perfect in the current environment which seems to be heavily control (based off my state anyway). Keiga/Arashi really boils down to the metagame where you live. WW/r was getting beaten out by the G/B control decks, so I guess I like the Keiga better. If you are in a WW/r heavy metagame, then maindeck Arashi's are possibly better. A couple Arashi in the SB is a good idea. I like the Overgrown Tomb since really at no point is it worse than the Swamps you have now. Honestly, which would you rather have turn 1, a Swamp or an Overgrown Tomb?
Overall, I really like Putrefy. The only problem is that by including them you are forced to cut some of the fatties (namely the 3rd-4th Keiga and 1-2 Arashi) that the straight U/G versions are running. Obviously have access to Cranials in the SB is nice, so the ultimate question is if the Putrefy's and black SB help the deck against area's of weakness?
I wasn't trying to start a flame war. honestly i agree that doubling season isn't all that good of a competitive card, i just thought that instead of just saying "no." you could answer the person with at least some what of a reason, thats all. some people don't understand mana curve, synergy etc.
ok a bunch of Kudzus top 8ed, that's great news. i do like the deck, now the question remains why did it not place higher/win? i'd like to think giving it Evasion may help, Flying/Unblockablility/trample. how you do that is up to you i guess.
I don't know what your Meta game is like. I know around here that trample and unblock/untargetiblility would mess with people's plans. i think the jushi's could come out for counters/non-creature draw since there seems to be alot of Hate out there.
edit: hmm. gee. I missed that last post on the first page. I was not bashing. I just dislike people who post/ask for opinions and then when you suggest something that they think is bad they automatically get this chip on their shoulder and talk down to people for their Audacity in their simple opinion. Now, personally I know how to play Magic the Gathering. I know the Rules of Magic the Gathering fairly well. I will freely admit that I'm not the best player, but I know how to build Decks. I spend more time building decks than actually playing in tourneys. I build Casual decks, I build Competitive decks, I tweak decks. When you decline to allow ideas of any kind from entering your mind that is when you miss your biggest insight. Examining every option even the absurd ones sometimes leads to an Epiphany.
I played a vresion of this deck at states on Saterday and bombed out with it I am thinking of splashing black for cranial and putrify both soild cards in my area it is vary much WW and WRW played here is my deck list
2 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Fist of Ironwood

you should have stopped writing right here.... this is the competitive forum, if you, yourself say it isnt a competitive card, then it has no right taking up space on the thread that I started to discuss a competitive deck....
I dont have time to comb through every frivelous post and pick out what might be some amazing technological advancement (and I assure you doubling season isnt one).
Its like if some says in Legacy you should run minamo's meddling over force of will because it costs 1 less to hardcast... I wont waste my time telling this moron who suggested that, that his idea is ludacris. Its obvioulsy not the correct thing to do so I really feel a simple No, will suffice for my explanation. You cant possibly test every magic card, I know this because you cant possibly play the game any more than I do and I know for a fact there just isnt enough time to test all the doubling seasons out there. I rely on the fact that I am a good player and I can recognize a playable card when I see one.
Underground XP, did you go to the MA states? if you did I was there. I didnt however see this concoction being played, mainly because I was watching Brian Lynch play what everyone on this website, with the select intelligent few, said was an awful deck to a perfect undefeated record through the swiss and top 8 rounds. All of the deck closer to table 1 look more like my list, maybe you should start looking at some states results and you will see cards to cut.
Jitte does not get removed from the deck.
Patron of the moon is god awful.
you need more synergy for the kudzu (wood elves or something)
I wouldnt bother with recollect
fist of the ironwood is junk too.

how about-
-3 Jushi
-3 arashi (move to the board)
-1 Meloku
-1 Wood Elf
+4 Telling Time
+2 Rewind
+2 Keiga
I do like Jushi, I think Telling Time is a better fit for the deck. Taking out creatures does hamper Jitte a little. people always seem reluctant to take down a Keiga. I don't think the deck needs to many counters, 6 seems about right in the main and maybe a few more out of the board if at all nessecary.
Against MUC you'd bring in a few more counters or you could drop some North Trees in..

also I cant imagine why you would want to take out Meloku... the man is a four of in all of these lists, yet your idea is condoning we drop one of the best men in the deck...

Depends on what you're playing against. I'd say mana leak is better in the control matchup, where putrefy is better in the aggro matchup.
But I was just saying that if you don't want to run black, you could just replace putrefy with leak and things would still be peachy.
