MTG Salvation

I could use some advise on the build of my deck, the only thing im missing is 1x bloodghast and 2x marsh flats. I am stuck between disfigure, urge to feed, or vendetta I think it's a little heavy on the vampires but I am not sure what to take out or sideboard. The hexmages work rediculously good in MD but I am considering SB.

I play,

I very highly suggest Tendrils of Corruption as a 4-of, especially for mono black. I think this could take the place of Consume Spirit.

I'm an advocate of 3x Bloodgast MD. In the current t2 meta, I've drawn into Bloodghasts plenty of times when I'd kill for blocks. That will also give you room for 3 MD Bloodwitch.

As for Lacerators, I ran them for a while, but then I shifted to more of a mid-range build, and it's worked much better.

I also highly suggest running a few more land. 20 is pushing it for vampires, especially with all of your CIPT lands. You really screw up your tempo.

I'm also not a fan of Hideous End, especially with Jund and Vampires making up about half of the decks you'll likely face at an FNM or tourney. Other possibilities are Urge to Feed and Disfigure, or even Smother.

Guess that's my 2 cents.

Thx Andybmcc, havn't taken it to fnm yet and my meta has plenty of jund but only 1 vampire last fnm I quite agree with you..

I used to run disfigure but I want to try a playset of urge to feed.

Oh yeah, forgot SB.

I have 4x Black Knight and they have been pretty boss. They are good against RDW, Gobbo Sligh, Jacerator, WW, etc.

I'd also consider Haunting Echoes or Underworld Dreams as they both hose Jacerator.

Deathmark is great against Jund.

Duress and extra Mind Sludge for control.


Ooh, yeah. Another change I made to my MD, I've really liked. I cut SiB to 3 of and started running Grim Discovery which is vastly superior in the later game.

This is what I'm currently running. It's working pretty well, but I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with Kalastria Highborn, which will probably take some MD spots from the Hexmage and Urge to Feed may be replacing Disfigure as it is an insanely good combat trick.

Yeah I have thought about all of those for SB, Right now my sideboard sux, and needs to be worked on b4 I take it to FNM...

Dang that looks like an insanely fun deck to play you got going on there! And I agree, I want to experiment with Urges and Highborn. I'm really excited about this deck and my Valakut Ramp. I been playin that one FNM because this deck is incomplete, still using a couple proxies and need more fetches.

-1 Hexmage MD
+1 Hexmage SB
-1 Deathmark or Duress SB
+2 Kalastria Highborn MD
-4 Disfigure MD
+3 Urge to Feed MD

sounds like a plan man! I am curious how the kalastrina highborn and urge to feed will work in this deck compared to how other colors benefit from worldwake.

if any one else could give me advise that would come from a player who actualy plays and experiments with vampires please feel free!
