I've just recently gotten back into Magic after stopping for a few years. I'm starting by revamping this zombie deck, and could use people's input on what is good. Lord of Tresserhorn could be substituted for something like Thraximundar but I like the Lord more personally, even if he rarely sees the playing field. He is the Lord of my zombies after all. Sounds better to say that than to say that he is the Thrax of my deck, doesn't it?
The biggest problem this deck has right now is just stalling into top deck mode. I should probably include more draw, but I'm not sure what I'd cut honestly.
Any advice anyone could give me would be great! Thanks in advance!
I like some of the cards that you have in your list, but don't know what to take out. Have any suggestions? Also, do you have any suggestions on making the mana base better? I've never been good at making those, and like I said, I'll spend money on it if it will make it better.
Jhessian Zombies, Igneous Pouncer and Twisted Abomination all help with the mana. Also, get all the original duals and Rav shock lands in the appropriate colors. Your mana base is pretty much identical to mine, and with the landcyclers hasn't been much of a problem now.

Alright. I should probably get some original dual lands anyway, so I'll work on getting some of those. Also, what would you recommend taking out for the mana cyclers?
Hmm. After playtesting this deck today I'm not sure if it uses it's blue very well. It includes one spell that has blue besides the general (Lich Lord of Unx)... Does anyone have any suggestions on any blue spells that would help the deck, but stay true to the zombie theme?

You have a lot of excess chaff that you could cut because it isn't very efficient. For starters, if you want more blue spells...you could probably add some counterspells. Maybe not Counterspell(it's too small an effect in EDH) specifically, but a counterspell+ so to speak. Like Mana Drain(obv) or Dissipate, Desertion, Spelljack, Dismiss, Forbid, and Guile. Then get some card draw in there. One Phyrexian Arena, while good, isn't reliable or consistent enough in a 100 card singleton deck(you still want to keep this in here though). Opportunity, Concentrate, hell, even a Mind Spring late game would be better than the lack of what you have currently. Sign in Blood and Night's Whisper would be nice as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not sure I agree on what to remove. You have to remember what my general does, it's not easy to get around if I want to use him. Rukh Egg gets sacrificed to him and gives me a 4/4 bird, Festering Goblin can get sacrificed to him, or just block and come back and block some more, I've got enough cards that do that. Whispersilk Cloak, Cover of Darkness and Zombie Trailblazer all help me get through for general damage, even normal damage, and the cloak protects my general as well. When a 10/4 (possibly bigger with my zombie lords and equipment) hits the board and it only takes 21 general damage to die, you're going to block him, and I'd prefer if people didn't. Vicious Shadows can be a game changing card as well. Say I'm playing against some people and we each have about... 3 creatures out, and 4 cards in hand (not that uncommon with all the draw). I have Vicious Shadows out and cast Damnation. That's at least 12 damage to each of them, or I could possible eliminate one right then and there. It's a very powerful card. Bloodchief Ascension is also very powerful. Say instead of having just a Vicious Shadows out, as in the earlier example, I also have an online Ascension when I cast Damnation. That's at least 20 damage to them, and I gain upwards of 20 life. I don't see how you can say Infernal Caretaker is bad in a zombie deck either... Maybe I'm just not seeing it? Coat of Arms and Infectious Horror can both be a little underwhelming however, I may try taking them out for some of the things you suggested. If anyone has any more suggestions, or explanation as to why cards are bad (no offense, you didn't really explain why you disliked the cards at all) then I'm all ears. Again, budget is no problem, but suggest expensive cards only if they will make the deck that much better.
Been a little since I've posted on this thread, but after testing this deck a lot I've found that I have a large problem with mana, I can never seem to get what I need. Is this just huge bad luck for me, or does my mana just have issues? Anyone got any suggestions?
Things I would take out include Festering Goblin, Nefashu, and Blightning. I would also try and squeeze in Tombstone Stairwell. Great with Vicious Shadows, and gives you stuff to sac for Tresserhorn.

Thirty-seven lands with no mana-artifacts does seem on the lighter side of the mana pool. I'd encourage the use of Darksteel Ingot, Coalition Relic, and Obelisk of Grixis to fix and accelerate.

I added some more cards tonight and started an edit log for myself so I know what I take out. Does anyone disagree with the changes or have future ones?
Lord of Tresserhorn was my first EDH deck. He's still more-or-less my favorite.
Our decks are very different though. I tried the Zombie theme at first, but I prefer small, utility creatures (Like Viashino Heretic and Dwarven Miner).
Kathari Bomber is a nice card that combos well with LoT. I run Drift of Phantasms to get Equipment, out, too (our selection is pretty similar there).
I also run Darksteel Ingot because it survives sweeps. Unfulfilled Desires is great for searching for answers, too.
I'd nix Lich Lord of Unx, Grave Pact, Carrion Feeder, and Zombie Master for some of the above changes.
I have been wanting to build this guy for a long time. I was not going to play zombie tribal but focus more on the general. I know that's not what you are doing but I figured mentioning some of the things I was going to add might be helpful in some way. tainted strike, glistening oil, Mindslicer, stifle, trickbind, torpor orb, corrupted conscious, and consecrated sphinx. Not sure how much this plays into your theme but they work well with your general.

I play a lot of decks just for flavor reasons (I have four/seven EDH decks as tribal), so having a zombie general is great. I also like the red, if for no other reason than Lightning Reaver. Just the other day I had him hit for over 80 damage total in a five player game. The extra little bit of removal doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, most of those just seem to be to buff the general, which isn't the theme of the deck really. The Consecrated Sphinx might be worth picking up, but I honestly don't like devolving from the theme of Zombies too much, especially because I seem to destroy a lot of non-zombies relatively often.
Thanks for your input both of you though! If you have any more, or anyone else has some I'd love to hear it.
I came pretty close to building a Tresserhorn deck. I kind of looked at it as more of a control deck with voltron elements. I put in creatures that can self resurrect as a means to keep my defense up while I set up a kill shot via Tresserhorn.
To accomplish this, I put in Squee, Goblin Nabob, Nether Traitor, Reassembling Skeleton, Gravecrawler and Bloodghast. Doing this allowed a lot of synergy within the deck. Allow you to combo cards like Gravepact with Skullclamp, or use cards like Arena to slow down possible threats that were going to beat your face. It also make River Kelpie extremely useful for some card advantage. I know you wanna keep more with the zombie theme, but with your general out and playing Call to the Grave you can keep the board clear and just start voltron swinging for the fences. The way I look at it, if you're going to sac due to your general, might as well run a package that makes the sac advantageous for you.
And if you're looking to utilize blue and need card draw, might I suggest only the most powerful draw effect in the game? Rhystic Study Yes it's annoying, yes people don't like it, tough cookies, though. You run blue, this should always be an auto include.

I run the Mindslicer and Homura, Human Ascendant for something to sacrafice to the general. I don't want to include too many cards just for him though. Yeah, Rhystic Study could be quite helpful for the deck. Skullclamp wouldn't be bad for draw either, but the question is, what do you think is worth removing for them? Grimoire of the Dead would also become good with some card draw. I'm not running it now because each card I draw is usually the only one I get per turn, making having to discard it for promises of a better tomorrow when I have a big card saying "This makes me win really hard" on the field risky.
I'm thinking I should put either Sensei's Divining Topp or Skullclamp, as well as Rhystic study into this deck. The card advantage from the top or clamp is something I just don't have right now, as well as the fact that they'd be the only one drops in the deck. I really like the Spelljack in this deck, but it's so expensive on blue, and not on theme with the rest of the deck, so it may be cut. Other than the Spelljack I'm not really sure what else to cut. Anybody have any suggestions?
I've played Good Buddy as a commander. I have to say, people really respect the guy. He draws way more instant hate than Thraximundar or Tetsuo, which may suprise you, but to a lot of decks, a 10 power commander with regeneration is pretty frightening... when the reality is that he's not the strongest grixis general around. He certainly is the most intimidating.
I had to really tighten up my list due to this.
For your particular list, I'd suggest Altar of Dementia. You get to mill yourself and have a sac engine, two things the deck wants to do. Nightscape Familiar is also a boss.

Some early card draw/filter can also help, like Sensei's Divining Top and Undead Gladiator. Hatching Plans may not come out as early, but it's amusing with your general.

Unfulfilled Desires is great for searching for answers, too.
