Default [GP] black card with "haunt"

From the same anonymous source as Killnonblue!

~this~ -
Sorcery
Target player discards a card.
Haunt
When the creature ~this~ haunts is put into a graveyard, target player discards a card.

Unfortunately he didn't know (or decided not to tell me) what Haunt means. But I think we found the name of another keyword mechanic!

About the card itself, one card for one mana is pretty bad in most cases, but it looks like there's a chance for a second use. If you can get a double use out of this, for only one mana, then it's a nice deal. I just wonder how you haunt something.

Only like 11 weeks until the prerelease!

Edited for clarity and to prevent stupid posts, sorry RE- Bel.
Further clarified by changing the name of the card to ~this~. A six word name makes it even MORE confusing! -rancored_elf

Wow... that's some pretty ugly wording...

Somehow "Haunt" doesn't seem to fit my concept of the flavor of the Orzhov Syndicate....

my guess is this:

Haunt (Put a haunt counter on target creature. That creature is haunted with this spell.)

I know it has memory issues, but that's the best I can come up with right now

im confussed at what haunt does so the actual value of this card will only be apparent when the key wording to haunt is revealed

Sounds kinda like "When enchanted creature is put into a graveyard, ..." but maybe thats just me.

The real wording would definitely help a lot. Questions, like "how do you remember which creature is haunted?" and "can you play this if there is no creature to haunt?", are plentiful. We may never know. Or we might know in another week or so.

i think haunt reads (from that card) :

Haunt (when this card would be put into the graveyard, you may attach it to target creature as an aura instead.)

something like that i bet

Wow, info's coming in, isn't it?

Hard to judge without knowing what "Haunt" means... it should be the Orzhov mechanic, but it will be pretty weird to have white "haunt" stuff.

well the Orzhov is led by the 'Ghost Council', so it seems okay to me. Plus, they are meant to be a mafia-like organisation that bumps off people that are a problem to them

Quite nice.

Haunt (You may attach ~ to a creature. If you do, ~ haunts that creature.)

With the rules for attaching permanents cleaned up, it seems they want to explore this interesting new design space. Attaching a sorcery to a creature, why not. Next, attaching creatures to creatures?

Creature
Haunt
Trample
When the creature ~ haunts leaves play, or when it doesn't haunt a creature, sacrifice ~.

A bit messy maybe? But not impossible.

The Orzhov are supposed to have also extensive ghost-business...why not "haunt"? Though I had hoped for some trade-inspired mechanic.
Let's hope that it will be clarified soon

Me too! That would be so much cooler from a flavor standpoint!

You do realize this does nothing, right? I mean, isn't there a rule that says creatures can't be attached to permanents? (that's why, when you play March of the Machines, all equipment falls off.)

If that's the case, why not make it a CIP-Aura like Galvanic Arc? Same difference, and about 100% clearer.

Does seem odd flavorwise, too, for Orzhov - but I do, generally, like the flavor of "Haunt" being a keyword.

Do you mean cause it can haunt itself? On creatures it would of course need to say "a creature other than ~". IF they do it on creatures of course. (I don't know if it's very elegant.)

Because Auras, even with cip abilities, have the big disadvantage that the target can be removed in response (and that you need one first). I'm sure Haunt will be optional, so you don't need to target a creature.
