5/5/12 - A Year and a half later I finally post Updates through Avacyn Restored. Too many updates during that time to post change log. Images added. 100% foiled for all cards that can be foiled (455 of the 480 can be foiled). Beginning Signature Process.
Looks good from scanning it quickly. When you get the time you should organize the list by CMC, creatures, and non-creatures (and post pics!). It makes critiquing much easier.
All I can say about the potential power cards is that I've personally chosen to exclude Sol Ring from my cube. Any deck can play it. It sets you ahead two turns. There's no common or uncommon that competes with it in power.

it's true. even within a full fledge cube, our local area has basically said that it's literally the best first pick, even over ancestral recall. but I personally want to try it out for awhile. If people complain then I'll probably cut it for something else.
I'll probably sort the list sometime tomorrow when I get the chance, I just wanted to get tags up first to make it a little easier on myself as well.
there was one more cycle I was working on. I wanted to make a cycle of figurehead lands for each color.
White: ???
Blue: Cephalid Colissium/Tolaria West
Black: Cabal Coffers
Red: Barbarian Ring
Green: Pendlehaven
I just can't figure out white's land. I've looked over the lists and can't think of anything comparable. the only thought I had was Daru Encampment. Although I really wish Kjeldoran Outpost was uncommon.

I tried posting them in but it was giving me weird scripts, that's why I asked if anyone knows the fix for it (seems to be since they switched card viewers the batch card list maker has had issues). I went a head and tried it again with the lands. click the land spoiler to see what I mean by weird scripts.
I have faerie conclave in there, along with treetop village, and ghitu encampment. I didn't include the white and black, as they honestly aren't very good.
White aggro should be very strong, with many 1 & 2 drops with 2+ power, and either evasion/first strike/useful ability. it's backed up by quite a few repeat tap effects.
black & green I took away their early drops to support more of the discard/reanimator/control theme & ramp into beats and efficient midrange/evasion creatures respectively.
Red took the other aggressive color, and focused heavily on burn and haste creatures. there's also side theme of land destruction and field sweepers.
blue is fairly standard for control/draw, however for it's primary creatures I tried to focus on flying fatties so they could regain ground against white and push damage vs the other colors.
I'd like my cube to be fairly balanced so people can focus on mono-colored (or mono + splash) while still having the availability to go 3+ colors (why many of the artifacts and lands focus on fixing) to make use of the multicolored spells.
I'm trying out the borderposts for now, as I saw them in my friends cube and they do really help with fixing. the reason they're the only colored artifacts is because they are a complete and balanced cycle between each color, and normally do not require colored mana to be cast. that and multicolored (especially allied colors) tends to be really tight as it is. if I find people don't want to draft them then I'll probably remove them for other things.
so I've been attempting to sort the card lists, but they might be currently working on the tags for the site to attempt to fix problems, so the tags aren't currently working.
so far White & blue are sorted by type & cost. black is finished as well, but tags are messed up.
One thing that I did in my U/C cube was to limit the quantity of 4/4 flyers. Originally I had something like 12 of them in the cube, and just I didn't like how many games ended up with an Air Elemental and Stratozeppelid squaring off against a Serra Angel and a Morroi. So I took out a few, most notably replacing Moroii with Blizzard Specter, and Stratozeppelid with Riftwing Cloudskate. This increased the value of Serra Angel and the inticement to play 3 colors in Tower Gargloyle.

hmm. might be worth a try, although sengir is one of the few cards that can go toe-to-toe with white's volume of flyers. I might cut back a little, probably take out air-elemental itself but leave in jetting glasskite & living tsunami.

so I realized today that I've never truely looked at sky hussar's stats or even his forecast ability, just his comboing with kiki-jiki. apparently he's a fairly weel stated 4/3 that can draw you extra cards, who knew?
also found out fire covenant is uncommon and not rare.
Probably Fire Covenant unfortunately. If you really want to try that card out (I know that's the one you just added in) Blightning and Wrecking Ball would be the next ones on the list.
You can't remove Terminate, Bit Blast or Redcap... those are the 3 best BR cards for your cube. Id probably just not add in the Covenant and use the other 5.
hmm, as much as I like wrecking ball (and that I already have a foil of it), probably will try fire covenant in place of it. If my drafters don't seem to like it, or it's too big a blow out (for about 5 life it can be an instant speed *** for 3 mana) then I'll probably switch it back.
so I did a ton of trading today instead of playing at fnm. up to 1/3rd the cube foiled out. still waiting on the last few cards to arrive by mail (Maze, chainer's, Su-chi, Fellwar stone, & fire imp). one of my friends is going to let me at a giant stack of common/uncommon foils tomorrow (today I guess) before he sells them at a ptq.
I did end up keeping murderous redcap and dropping wrecking ball. think I'll leave kiss out for the moment unless someone can give me a good reason why to keep it in compared to: sky hussar, azorious guildmage, plumeveil, silkbind faerie, & wall of denial.
also added berserk, force of will, and sylvan library to the cube tonight.
decided on seijri steppe as the white "power" land
still trying to figure out the red "power" card. honestly I might just claim it too be bolt and be done with it. -.-
need to find replacements for teetering peeks, bojuka bog, cephalid colliseum, & khalni garden. perferably colorless lands.
I plan on fixing the formatting of the first post later today, and probably take pictures of the cube on sunday.
Almost finished sorting all of the cards by color - type - name (for gold, artifact, and land they're sorted by groupings).
Took pictures, but my new compute lacks the proper SD slot for my camera, so I need to find the usb cord before I can host them, but should be up shortly. Sadly I still have a few proxies as my card orders haven't arrived yet, and I wasn't able to look through my friend's proxies today, so hopefully next time some week I'll have updated pictures with no proxies & more foils.
I still can't get the card tags to work so you can view a cards by clicking the links, but the rest of the tags seem to be fixed. please, if anyone knows how to get the card tags working plase post and tell me as I really want to get the cards hyperlinked.
in the future I'm planning on dropping the majority of the reanimation spells from back (keeping a few like reanimate). If you have any suggestions for what should go in their place, or a specific theme that should replace them, I'm looking for suggestions.

Finished updating lists & uploaded pictures. currently card list & picture order for Artifacts & lands are not the same, will be fixed when I take new pictures next week. also sorry about some of the blurry pictures, I really need to buy a new camera at some point.
Edit: got more foils. about 40 away from having 50% of the cube foiled out.
Edit 2: Finally got card scripts working, however lost the links to the previous pictures, and when I re-uploaded them they decided to turn the green and artifact pictures and rotate them 90 degrees. will work on reuploading them to post again later.
Everything else seems in order, and I'll begin working hard on fixing up black.
made a few changes to the list. dropped most of the reanimation spells in black and added early aggro creatures like lacerator, carnophage, and skittering skirge. I'll post the official changes when I get home later tonight.
I'm also currently working on adding foil proxies for the cards that I cannot get foiled (such as control magic and force of will), so I'll be spending most of my time attempting to perfect that process to make them look as good as possible. I'll post pictures of my progress.
As a side note, I found the absolute cutest squirrel token in the proxy thread, so now I want to find a card that makes squirrel tokens so I can use the token in the cube >.>;; any suggestions?
Major change up for black. lost alot of the reanimator theme (although key cards like reanimate, unearth, makshift mannequin, and Life//Death remain), and added in an early black creature presence, including some additional discard support in augur and interrogator. also seal of doom to fill in the enchantment slot a little bit with solid removal, and contagion as an interesting combat trick. If you have any additional black aggro creatures you think should be in here, please suggest them.
The egg just wasn't doing what red wants to do, and everyone likes more removal If I see that pyrokinesis is being under utilized I'll be switching it out with cone of flame.
Well, as much as I love the trip token maker, it doesn't seem enough and I couldn't find anything else to cut in green. if you have any suggestions for a different cut inplace of bestial menace please suggest it. I just wanted to make room for Squirrel nest as suggested by Klug & bizzaro so I can make use of my awesome squirrel tokens.
That should bring everything upto date beside pictures. should have new pictures up this weekend.
Don't cut Bestial Menace, the card is six power for five spread over three bodies.
Better cards to cut in my opinion:
1 or both Fyndhorn Elder - if this comes down on turn three, there are a few cards you can accelerate to but all together I'd rather have a less vulnerable Kodama's Reach or Explosive Vegetation. Beast Attack - this card is cute, but a 4/4 for 5 is below average these days, even at instant speed. It's also a pretty heavy color commitment. Fine but not great. Roar of the Wurm - without a discard outlet this card is terrible. Mold Shambler - without Planeswalkers around this is a worse Acidic Slime. You don't need both. Baloth Woodcrasher - a cool beater that I tried out, but he's altogether too expensive coupled with a lot more removal spells floating around. Hunted Wumpus - an interesting concept. It's going to feel really bad when your opponent gets a free Shriekmaw, Nekrataal, Man-o'-War, etc;
Also, I mentioned on my thread about reanimation spells - they're good even if you're not supporting a linear theme. Pretty sure Animate Dead and Necromancy are better than Reanimate. The life loss is relevant as control decks are going to want the reanimation most of the time. Getting a Persist creature, Shriekmaw, Mulldrifter, Eternal Witness, etc, back can be really crushing.

4/20/10 - Major changes, including ROE cards. See post #28 for the list.
10/22/10 - Extremely large change for M11, Scars, and just general card changes. Also changed to Realistic Categorization. List on post #39.
10/23/10 - Added early green aggro creatures, Kird ape and Loam Lion also make their return under the new categorization.
5/5/12 - A Year and a half later I finally post Updates through Avacyn Restored. Too many updates during that time to post change log. Images added. 100% foiled for all cards that can be foiled (455 of the 480 can be foiled). Beginning Signature Process.

All I can say about the potential power cards is that I've personally chosen to exclude Sol Ring from my cube. Any deck can play it. It sets you ahead two turns. There's no common or uncommon that competes with it in power.

it's true. even within a full fledge cube, our local area has basically said that it's literally the best first pick, even over ancestral recall. but I personally want to try it out for awhile. If people complain then I'll probably cut it for something else.
I'll probably sort the list sometime tomorrow when I get the chance, I just wanted to get tags up first to make it a little easier on myself as well.
there was one more cycle I was working on. I wanted to make a cycle of figurehead lands for each color.

I just can't figure out white's land. I've looked over the lists and can't think of anything comparable. the only thought I had was Daru Encampment. Although I really wish Kjeldoran Outpost was uncommon.

For your lands question, use Faerie Conclave as the blue one.
What are your cube's themes? Do you want strong white agro, do you want black to be a control or agressive color? How much do you want to stress/destress multicolored decks? What are they key archetypes you want people tod raft? These are important cube questions.
I'm not a big fan of an even 60 card split between everything. That means your going to see as many multicolored cards as your going to see white cards. That seems wrong to me.
I'm not a big fan of the borderposts. That being said they should go in the multicolor section, not artifact section.
I would post a more indepth review, but I don't know what many of these cards are.

I tried posting them in but it was giving me weird scripts, that's why I asked if anyone knows the fix for it (seems to be since they switched card viewers the batch card list maker has had issues). I went a head and tried it again with the lands. click the land spoiler to see what I mean by weird scripts.
I have faerie conclave in there, along with treetop village, and ghitu encampment. I didn't include the white and black, as they honestly aren't very good.
White aggro should be very strong, with many 1 & 2 drops with 2+ power, and either evasion/first strike/useful ability. it's backed up by quite a few repeat tap effects.
black & green I took away their early drops to support more of the discard/reanimator/control theme & ramp into beats and efficient midrange/evasion creatures respectively.
Red took the other aggressive color, and focused heavily on burn and haste creatures. there's also side theme of land destruction and field sweepers.
blue is fairly standard for control/draw, however for it's primary creatures I tried to focus on flying fatties so they could regain ground against white and push damage vs the other colors.
I'd like my cube to be fairly balanced so people can focus on mono-colored (or mono + splash) while still having the availability to go 3+ colors (why many of the artifacts and lands focus on fixing) to make use of the multicolored spells.
I'm trying out the borderposts for now, as I saw them in my friends cube and they do really help with fixing. the reason they're the only colored artifacts is because they are a complete and balanced cycle between each color, and normally do not require colored mana to be cast. that and multicolored (especially allied colors) tends to be really tight as it is. if I find people don't want to draft them then I'll probably remove them for other things.

At the moment I'm considering swapping out Sengir Vampire for Fallen Angel, which I find more flavorful.
What do you guys think?
hmm. might be worth a try, although sengir is one of the few cards that can go toe-to-toe with white's volume of flyers. I might cut back a little, probably take out air-elemental itself but leave in jetting glasskite & living tsunami.

so I realized today that I've never truely looked at sky hussar's stats or even his forecast ability, just his comboing with kiki-jiki. apparently he's a fairly weel stated 4/3 that can draw you extra cards, who knew?
also found out fire covenant is uncommon and not rare.

You can't remove Terminate, Bit Blast or Redcap... those are the 3 best BR cards for your cube. Id probably just not add in the Covenant and use the other 5.

A couple suggestions:
Hunted Wumpus could be Rhox Charger
Invigorate could be Gilt-Leaf Ambush
And definitely keep Murderous Redcap and Kiss of the Amesha
I did end up keeping murderous redcap and dropping wrecking ball. think I'll leave kiss out for the moment unless someone can give me a good reason why to keep it in compared to: sky hussar, azorious guildmage, plumeveil, silkbind faerie, & wall of denial.
also added berserk, force of will, and sylvan library to the cube tonight.
decided on seijri steppe as the white "power" land
still trying to figure out the red "power" card. honestly I might just claim it too be bolt and be done with it. -.-
need to find replacements for teetering peeks, bojuka bog, cephalid colliseum, & khalni garden. perferably colorless lands.

Took pictures, but my new compute lacks the proper SD slot for my camera, so I need to find the usb cord before I can host them, but should be up shortly. Sadly I still have a few proxies as my card orders haven't arrived yet, and I wasn't able to look through my friend's proxies today, so hopefully next time some week I'll have updated pictures with no proxies & more foils.
I still can't get the card tags to work so you can view a cards by clicking the links, but the rest of the tags seem to be fixed. please, if anyone knows how to get the card tags working plase post and tell me as I really want to get the cards hyperlinked.
in the future I'm planning on dropping the majority of the reanimation spells from back (keeping a few like reanimate). If you have any suggestions for what should go in their place, or a specific theme that should replace them, I'm looking for suggestions.

Edit 2: Finally got card scripts working, however lost the links to the previous pictures, and when I re-uploaded them they decided to turn the green and artifact pictures and rotate them 90 degrees. will work on reuploading them to post again later.
Everything else seems in order, and I'll begin working hard on fixing up black.

I'm also currently working on adding foil proxies for the cards that I cannot get foiled (such as control magic and force of will), so I'll be spending most of my time attempting to perfect that process to make them look as good as possible. I'll post pictures of my progress.
As a side note, I found the absolute cutest squirrel token in the proxy thread, so now I want to find a card that makes squirrel tokens so I can use the token in the cube >.>;; any suggestions?

Major change up for black. lost alot of the reanimator theme (although key cards like reanimate, unearth, makshift mannequin, and Life//Death remain), and added in an early black creature presence, including some additional discard support in augur and interrogator. also seal of doom to fill in the enchantment slot a little bit with solid removal, and contagion as an interesting combat trick. If you have any additional black aggro creatures you think should be in here, please suggest them.

Well, as much as I love the trip token maker, it doesn't seem enough and I couldn't find anything else to cut in green. if you have any suggestions for a different cut inplace of bestial menace please suggest it. I just wanted to make room for Squirrel nest as suggested by Klug & bizzaro so I can make use of my awesome squirrel tokens.

Better cards to cut in my opinion:
1 or both Fyndhorn Elder - if this comes down on turn three, there are a few cards you can accelerate to but all together I'd rather have a less vulnerable Kodama's Reach or Explosive Vegetation.
Beast Attack - this card is cute, but a 4/4 for 5 is below average these days, even at instant speed. It's also a pretty heavy color commitment. Fine but not great.
Roar of the Wurm - without a discard outlet this card is terrible.
Mold Shambler - without Planeswalkers around this is a worse Acidic Slime. You don't need both.
Baloth Woodcrasher - a cool beater that I tried out, but he's altogether too expensive coupled with a lot more removal spells floating around.
Hunted Wumpus - an interesting concept. It's going to feel really bad when your opponent gets a free Shriekmaw, Nekrataal, Man-o'-War, etc;
Also, I mentioned on my thread about reanimation spells - they're good even if you're not supporting a linear theme. Pretty sure Animate Dead and Necromancy are better than Reanimate. The life loss is relevant as control decks are going to want the reanimation most of the time. Getting a Persist creature, Shriekmaw, Mulldrifter, Eternal Witness, etc, back can be really crushing.
