The only thing about it is that I wouldn't wan't to run the whole thingg, but its just a suggestion, I mean we could use creature types for the races and the different sets for different countries or something.
excellent idea. legends could merely be NPCs, and there would be many cool things to do overall in that world
ravinca would also be cool: playing as a guild member

Thanks @ R&Doom at "Ye Olde Sig and Avatar Shoppe" for the banner.
If you find enough people intrested I will MOd the project If you would like that is. I am currently starting one now but have plenty of free time and can run another. IF you can find 20 or so people intrested I will talk to the Mods about letting me run this.

I actully already created one based on 7th edition flavor. I gave it to Senori and Belgareth and it was approved and whatnot however then a few months ago my internet died and when I returned I did not really have the passion to continue. I could still work on it if anyone wants to do it with me. I can probably dig up a link for anyone who wants to check it out.
yea ill help mod it with you if thats what you mean we could just control the legends and let the others choose less important figures. So next is the question what set(time) do we want to base it on? Someone put up a poll I vote but have only 3-4 of the guilds being playable as all 10 would get rediculous perhaps BOros, Radkos, Izzet, Golgari. WE don't want dimir for obvious reasons and even Izzet is a little unplayable perhaps just the three.

I agree but first we must get 20 members to agree, since this is my first time as a mod(if we get this going) so i will need some help, and can we pm peole about agreeing to this?

This is, to be honest, somewhat stupid. We do not need to PM people and ask them to agree. It is a WP not a contract. We can open a thread asking who would partipate if one were to be made however I think this thread works like that. Also we are just in beginnings of discussion, I do not think this is a time to be making polls yet. As far as time goes I am partial to seventh edition as said above but I would be okay with Ravnica. Kamigawa would not be good in my opinion, nor would Mirridon. Onslaugh and Invasion would be decent and Tempest would be nice.
Oh and TotT I know you have expirence is such matters but olliejr, do you have Role playing expirence?
Realistically, you're never going to get twenty consistent members. The EW doesn't have twenty consistent members. Forum Domination had that many members for maybe two days.
Further, no, PMing people about this is not the correct course.

I'd give ya a hand on it. Each guild should be playable, except the Dimir, due to its covert nature. I could mod 3 guilds, and i know which ones I want, too. (Simic, Arzorious[sp?] Senate, Selsnya). If there is enough support, I'm ready to start brainstorming spells.
Oh, ok I see, and which type of role playing game? a dice role playing, or like hevan & hell?
I'm reasonably certain he's referring to a Main Colosseum quest, and not a World Project. An example of such would be the "Games of Gods" thread.

Methinks a Kamigawa WP would be sweet. We could have the untold (read: we made them up) events of the Kami War. The ability to play as an Akki character would be a definite plus in my book. Goat riding!
A RAV WP would also be cool. I would suggest, though, that the Simic guys not get into actual fights, being scientists and all, but do their whole biomancy thing and cook up some crazy mutant beasts to fight for them. And we would have to have Dimir NPC's, because in the Wizards' version of Ravnica, you really can get dragged into a back alley and have your mind erased...
If it's done as a Ravnica-based WP, I would be willing to help whereever.

ok, i'd join a ravnica based RPG or WP. we should limit the gilds as much as possible, but each colour should be in at least one of the guilds played with. start it as a single thread, and if people like it then it could be turned into a WP.

ood call like I said Boros would be good thats r/w then Golgari thats g/b that would leave r/u so lets go with that(which guild is it?) 3 i believe would be the best #. If we get enough support and someone starts a thread im in whether just to play or to actually mod(dependant on if its a WP). But yea we should probably start it as a RPG.

id be willing to join a RAV WP, but we would have to limit it to 4-5 guilds (using each color twice) I don't know which ones we'd pick but im all for a golgari or boros as some we can pick.
i believe that we were thinking of just three guilds, but you joining would be great.
you start off as a normal guildmage, and then....
we could focus on a spell/s per colour system and as you advance you get more spells. but you get certain mana and spells cost mana or something so you could either cast quite a lot of small spells, or only a couple of big ones....
There was a thread writen by Jake somewhere that played with cards that would almost be feasible with our idea if anyone can find the link iand some people like it it seems fairly self explanitory and I would be willing to run the NP characters.

Dimir and Azorius should probably be NPC-only Guilds, given their nature. Maybe even Selesnya for the whole groupthink thing.
You have to establish some simple principles first;
* how does one gain mana for casting spells?
* how much mana/life does a given character have?
* does a character regenerate health after a time?
* which spells are going to be used? Stuff from Alpha? Mirrodin? Or just the currently rather limited Ravnica base?

I would be most interested to run a Magic: The Gathering World Project, because I know a lot about the Magic world and have the time to get the thing running.
To answer your questions, Senori, mana would be gained based on location (as it might in any Magic setting).
For example, if you are fighting between one user and another in a battle, and the first user is say, RickCorgan, and the second is, me, we'd both be fighting in the middle of a plains (since white is our strongest color). Thusly, Summoning Mana in a plains (action in the game which can be used only once every two posts, can be tweaked) environment would net us :symw::symw: Mana. Conversely, if the swamps in the world were say.. far away from the Plains, it would only summon us say, .5 Black Mana, which would then require another summoning of mana during the next two posts (which you can fill in with talking, regular fighting actions, etc).
Of course there'd have to be rules about which certain spells can be played, etc, (I plan on using the MTG Card List, but also sorting spells into categories, say a first user in the game can't immediately summon *** to kill everyone else ;)) (Also, rewriting spells would take a bit of effort but I'm willing to do it, so that *** doesn't kill a character, but just kills his creatures and injures his Life Total some; we are not planeswalkers, though that level CAN be achieved, after long play.)
Life/Mana? Well if they really want to they can take forever to summon all the mana they need, but it would be useless as they wouldn't have access to higher spells (because of their level) and they'd be taking a beating from whoever they'd be fighting (since conjuring mana is only really necessary in a fight). Life will be determined just like in a Magic game: It's intangible (as in the players wouldn't know how much their Life Total is, but in game terms, we do) but still there.
The good thing is that advanced players can have their Life Total extended, making it go up to 30 instead of 20, etc.
Does a character regenerate health after a time?
Also like Magic, characters regenerate health at the same time, but very slowly, since this is characters and not the creatures they summoned.
So after let's say, (also to be tweaked) four posts in a thread, only players who are actively engaged in combat regenerate 2LTHP (lifetotal hitpoints). Those outside of combat can rest (ie sleep) to regenerate 5LTHP for every 2 posts they rest. Something like that.
Spells to be used? Depends on the setting. If everyone thinks Ravnica is a good setting, we'll use Ravnica AND 9th Edition spells. It makes the most sense to include them, since WOTC made the set to be generic, it can be applied to almost any setting.
That good enough for ya?
EDIT: One more thing, about the guilds, I don't think that every guild should be offlimits. Rather, some guilds will be harder to join than others, based on how they are. Dimir, of course, will be the very hardest to join, in terms of ranking 'joining difficulty'. I imagine Orzhov and Boros the easiest.
i'd love to do a Kamigawa one, but there's an issue with such a Project:
legends.
if you were to work it, the only thing you could use from their stories would be the world they built... i guess that'd work.
ravinca would also be cool: playing as a guild member
