Heyo. Per request via PM, this is my Reality Acid deck. Budget friendly (two flashy rares aside, but are not necessary) and almost Pauper! Goals are first, then the list, then possible evolution of the deck, then lastly, Tips and Tricks below. Deck does pretty well in my casual group and is fairly competitive.
Goals:
- No card quite like Reality Acid... permanent destruction in blue? Ooookay. Problem though, it takes forever naturally to do its thing. Forget letting it fester; bounce it and replay to take out whatever threatens you.
- Find other stuff to work well with the "return to hand" suite.
- Rift Elemental works with RA but as a last resort; however it suggested that suspend creatures might work well with the control aspect of the deck.
Evolution:
- If you don't like the suspend critters, that's cool; substitute appropriate blue finishers as you have them. They work well for me so far.
- If you have the $, you can't go wrong with adding more of the money cards or dabbling in a better mana base.
- You can up some of the cards to 4x and eliminate others if you want; I went with varied CMC cards to make it a little easier to play a bounce and a combo piece on the same turn at different times of the game.
Tips and Tricks:
- Play it control style. You generally want to muck up the ground with your 4/1 first strikers, 1/5 D'Stalkers, threaten inflating your Rift Elemental, chump blocking with gobbo tokens, that sort of thing. Mid game to late game, take out threats with the combo pieces, then bounce them. Repeat as needed.
- This deck is full of SYNERGY! Check these out:
a. Reality Acid + any bouncer = sacced permanent
b. Fatal Attraction + Vedalken Mastermind / Rescue / Echoing Truth = 2 damage trigger ability on the stack, bounced FA
c. Fatal Attraction + Vedalken Mastermind / Rescue / Echoing Truth + one turn = 4 damage trigger ability on the stack, bounced FA
d. Flowstone Embrace + Vedalken Mastermind / Rescue / Echoing Truth = +2/-2 (to kill a weenie), bounced FE
e. Mogg War Marshall + bouncer = expensive token producer in a pinch
f. Rift Elemental + suspended card = power out 4/4 fliers and 4/1 first strikers quickly and threaten combat with a x/1
g. Rift Elemental + Reality Acid = last ditch emergency RA trigger now!
- Generally turn one play your Halberdier, turn 2 play Epheron. This will set up your mid game beats.
- If you can, play a combo piece and bounce in the same turn. This will help avoid tricks on their part.
- Try to keep VMastermind's ability active as necessary. If they kill it, you can skip bouncing something else and rescue Master.
- Actually, bounce is one of your worst enemies: If you target their stuff and they bounce it, then combo piece is gone. That's bad.
- Reality Acid - kinda immune to Disenchant effects! Fun.
That's it for now. It's been pretty competive and playtested on my part. As with a lot of control decks, you may make some enemies, so your results will vary.
Comments / suggestions / hate mail?!?! all welcome. Thanks.
A Reality Acid deck with no Temporal Adept, or now that I think of it you know what else would be really good?
Reality Strobe. That way you wouldn't have to sink any mana into to it.
What do you think about those?
Also I have to ask, what's with the singleton Lonely Sandbar and Forgotten Cave? I am sure there is a reason (knowing you there has to be) but for the life of me I can't figure it out.
I have to imagine that a suspended Deep-sea Kraken would definetely help the control aspects of the deck. Force a player to be frugal with their spells.
LV33: I had an Adept in a long time ago, but I found Vedalken Mastermind to work better fro this deck. With a bounce cost of just U, it's so much easier to play a combo piece and bounce the same turn. Adept is expensive to activate.
Now Strobe.... that could work; the timing of it is a little hard to control though.
Ha, sorry, no, I always seem to throw in a few ETBT lands here and there, so I threw in one each. The Rav bouncelands ETBT so I didn't put too many in.
Jimbo: Now that could be a nice addition; try them as finishers instead of the Ephs. Would probably take about the same amount of time too. Cool.

Wow, in all my days I never know about that, lol. I am dumb sorry.

Not really, especially if you can get 3 Suspended, and going off 1 per turn, that's just mean.
