See the bracket spoiler below to see who’s still in and who just wasn’t bad enough to make it this far (as well as informative links about the villains that are left).
Darth Vader’s labored, mechanical breaths echoed through Asteroid M’s meeting chamber.
“You, and your planet will submit to the Emperor’s will,” he said.
Magneto parted his cape and put his arms on the long iron table he stood behind. “If you’ve come all the way here to tell me that, I fear you will go home sourly disappointed.”
“Your base is interfering my ship’s propulsion. I’ve been told that I can offer everyone on this base asylum until the attack on the planet below is complete. This is the only opportunity I will give you to keep your life.”
Magneto smiled and stood back up straight. He folded his arms behind his back and smiled under his helmet. “You aliens are always the same. Countless others have underestimated earth’s human tenacity and countless humans have underestimated mutants’ sheer power.” He raised a hand toward Darth Vader. “You think some kind of unknown technology is holding your ship in place out there?”
The four storm troopers that stood behind Darth Vader gripped their guns a bit tighter. Who could this primitive man be so smug before Lord Vader?
“No,” Magneto said, “my will alone holds it steady. You introduced yourself as ‘Dark Lord of the Sith.’ It’s an impressive sounding title, but it holds little weight for me, one has no knowledge of what a sith is. My other title, however, is quite clear to understand: ‘Master of Magnetism.’”
“I have little time for this posturing. Submit now, or I will return to my ship and destroy this base as I should have done to begin with,” Vader said.
Magneto flexed his hand toward Vader. “Perhaps you should have. It seems you are particularly vulnerable to my talents.”
“Enough,” Vader said. He turned his back to Magneto. On cue, the storm troopers pulled the triggers on their blasters.
Something strange happened though. Instead of shooting, the blasters disintegrated into balls of levitating scrap. Then the huge table that spanned the distance between them and Magneto rose into the air and flew at them. “Do not turn you back on me,” Magneto shouted.
The Force guided Vader to duck just in time, but all of the confused storm troopers got hit with the full brunt of the heavy table. Those that weren’t knocked out instantly were pinned helplessly under the weight.
Darth Vader spun around, leaving the troopers behind him and flexed his own hand toward Magneto. “You may claim some control over the force of magnetism, but I am the master of the one and only Force.”
Magneto felt a tickle in his throat and then his windpipe pinched closed from the inside. He mustered up all of this strength to crush the robotic arm which Vader held outstretched.
Darth Vader looked down at the twisted remnants of his arm and looked back at Magneto as he coughed. “You will regret that.”
The two men stared each other down as various objects—most of them heavy, sharp, or both—rose into the air around them.
Who would win? Why? Discuss below.
*Some caveats: Magneto can tear Vader apart with magnets. Vader can tear Magneto apart with the Force. Since they both know this they are going to try to have a telekinesis battle. Vader’s light sabre probably won’t come into play since it would be dismantled by Magneto if he draws it. Magneto’s home court advantage probably won’t come into play because, yes, it’s all metal, but Vader can move everything around too. Magneto might be older, but Vader isn't the healthiest either. Aside from being down an arm and having just nearly choked to death, they are at the top of their games.
--
Nice to See Vader is full powered again. :), Problem is all Magneto needs to do is remove the Life support box nice and centred on Vaders chest and Vader is screwed. Magneto all the way.

Force Choke and Force push aren't cutting the mustard against the master of magnetism, especially against an opponent who needs mechanical life support. And is largely robotic.

"Wizards could put $100 bills in packs and people would complain about how they were folded."
Vader would win. As he demonstrates in The Empire Strikes Back, he doesn't actually need to stretch his arm out to use the force. Magneto might try to strip Vader's life support, but I think Vader would be faster in simply finishing his force choking. Vader would need medical treatment afterwards, but he would win.
To use the force you need to be able to concentrate and think fairly clearly, once Magneto rips the control box away from Vader he loses the thing that makes him breathe. One thing they don't show in the any of the films is how badly mangled Anakin was after his duel and lava bath on Mustafa, not to mention how crude the augmetics that were used revive him are.
He literally can't survive with out having the life support breathe for him or being in one of his specially constructed hyperbaric chambers emphasied by the fact that the various cybernetic systems inplanted in him were never upgraded from the ones he was given just after Mutafar.

Hmm. Plainly speaking, Vader is much more powerful than Magneto and can do much more than just bending metal. However the way the fight is setup, Magneto would most likely end up the victor as he had more than enough time to start crushing Vader's robotic equipment, not to mention his precious life support.
So, do he is a bit weaker, Magneto wins on account of having a good way to strike where Vader is vulnerable.

It is always easy to be tolerant and understanding...Until someone presents an opinion completely opposite to your own.
Yes, Vader is made of metal. However, Magneto does not know this is his life support and would therefore not target it specifically. And also, Vader will have no trouble fending of Magneto's attacks, as they are basically 2 Jedis using the force. However, Magneto is limited to using the force on metal, Vader isn't.

Magneto won't know about Vader's weakness to start with but Vader does. As i said in the Vader vs Shredder match-up, Vader is going to have to protect it. In the the various expanded universe novels we find that Vader is forced to change his whole fighting style to protect his chest, Mageneto is going to pick up on that and it is going to be far very easy Magento to do very serious damage to the life support system once he works out its importance.
To be honest I would have prefered a Deathstroke vs Vader fight bringing Deathstroke forward. You would be able to count on Deathstroke turning up with a Ysalamir and a matched pair of Cortosis blades to make things even.

Mangeto would just treat Vader the same way he treated Cable or Wolverine, remove all their metal components as a afterthought and go back to thinking about what he wants for dinner. I thinks it obvious to anyone meeting Vader he's on life support. Magneto is aware of Iron Man, someone who uses cybernetics to survive then built a suit around it. Magneto is pretty smart.
So Vader is reduced to a twitching asphyxiating corpse flopping helplessly on the ground for all of two minutes. Although technically he can survive without it, by using a Sith healing technique the only problem is that he can only sustain the anger for no longer than 2 minutes. Of course Magneto might provide a constant source of rage. If only 3 of Vader's limbs weren't mechanical too. Oh well.
mmm well atleast vador is at full power however it likly won't help him.... Eric is a dam god.... I give vador one chance at a DRAW.... that is if he sacrfised himself to do force lighitng to fry Eric (killing himself in the process which is why he never uses said power in the movies) otherwise the master of mettle wins
I also feel like making a perdiction
the final fight will be DR Doom VS Magneto
and magneto will win. unless you nuder eric like how they nudered vador in the Vador vs Shreder
It's basically Magneto vs a metal can. A powerful metal can, but a metal can nonetheless.
No way Magneto can't win this one.
And, to be fair, when you take Magneto powers to their full extent ("master of all magnetic force"), I find it quite unlikely that anything could defeat him. Control over one of the fundamental forces of the universe is quite god-like.

Even if the suit wasn't metal Vader + all the stormtroopers are still human with all the that implies, most relevantly in this case the use of Haemoglobin to transport oxygen around the body.
As haemoglobin has iron in it, if Magneto wanted to be spectaculary vicious he could rupture enough red blood to screw over any human again not that much the force can do to stop that.

Actually, he can't. The only reason he did that in X-men 2 is because mystique injected (technically) lethal levels of iron into the guard's bloodstream. Also, what keeps 2 siths from just force-choking each other when they fight? The fact is that they can create a force-shield around them, negating effects of the force, and Vader could probably do the same for Magneto.
ok lets go try this one more time. in the movies the jedi etc had trouble and strained to lift huge metal objects. whereas magneto is literally holding a spaceship together as an AFTERTHOUGHT. he could take the half of the ship that vader is on and condense it literally crush a million tons of metal into vader in the blink of an eye. are you telling me vader has a forcefield for that? i dont think so.
Neither power takes much concentration from the user until the attempt borders on something godlike. (Or some kind of narratory ass-pull.)
When you then simply consider that the Force can do a whole swath of stuff electromagnetism can't, while the Force, obviously, can create much more varied effects move anything Magneto can (sry, I doublespoke), you'd figure this is an easily decided matchup in Vader's favour. Anny is a strictly better Magneto.
Now, even then, if you apply the principles of fighter gaming, fighting a strictly better weapon doesn't make the matchup 100:0. It could still be 7:3, or even 6:4, if each specific option still has a counter from the other. It's still a game of wits, just imbalanced.
But again, I can't see anything tipping that toward Magneto that Vader doesn't equal.
As even the OP breaks form and notes (but still correctly), both players can destroy each other's bodies from all relevant ranges.
But that is decided by one simple observation, that has already been made in this thread:

It'll be an epic battle. I'm not downplaying the difficulty here. If we actually saw this, what we'd see would be something like a series of games of Chicken - each one about to finish the other, but not quite willing to take the risk that the other's exactly parallel tactic would spell his own end first. They'd try to wear each other down physically to set up their own lethal attack, but, again, Vader can keep up with M.
EDIT: Because I think it's worth emphasizing, I've bolded that part.
In the end, Vader has to win. If neither one introduces some kind of third factor, some kind of phlebotinum or novel distraction, some straw men, something out of nothing, Vader has to win.

Since landmage's claim has been disputed by Luminis, it seems we need to settle it. What source could decide what the Force can and cannot do against electromagnetic influence?
I don't think giving up that premise, though, would mean this can come into Magneto's ballpark. I'm still on Vader's bet.
until someone can verifiably say that vader would stop 1 million pounds of metal crushing at him from every direction then it becomes a moot point. darth vader had to BUILD the death star. magneto just THINKS and he makes ships. I dont see how any of you can consider this anything but a hugely lopsided slaughter for magneto.
As an addition to Magento's abilities in the old 1990's cartoon series in the last episiode Magento is able to boost Charles Xaviers telepathic abilities as thought is electrical implulses through the brain Magento would be able to turn Vader off like a light switch or randomly set off nerve synapses through out Vader's head.

Magneto isn't holding the place together. The place is made of a ferrous metal and was magnetized by induction simply by him being there. So technically the whole place is a giant magnet made of of little magnets holding themselves in place.
Vader can transform one kind of energy into another. Its why he let Han Solo shoot him in cloud city, the blaster shot hits his hand and he absorbs that into himself and uses that energy to do Force powers...such as telekinetically taking Han's blaster. It can be done with light and heat, I dunno about Magnetism.
We finally have a fight where name recognition isn't a problem. But I dunno how many people are fully aware of everything both Magneto and the emo asthmatic can do. Especially Vader who keeps getting extra powers retro-actively as more and more EU writers think of extra Force powers and they are summarily given always to The Emperor and sometimes to Vader.
Magneto tries to rip Vader apart, he can feel how much of Vader's body is ferrous while Vader tries to hold himself together. Eventually one will get tired. If Vader tires first well someone will have to put him back together. If Magneto tires first that'll Vader a moment to catch his breath
Even if they change strategies, it'll be a test of endurance against two people with just too much power. Although Vader isn't as powerful as Anakin because having his limbs cut off did cap his potential, something The Emperor actually hates him for.
"
Another way in which he frequently uses his power is for the production of a personal shield or 'force field' which selectively blocks out matter and energy. This field is strong enough to withstand the detonation of multiple thermonuclear weapons hence he is invulnerable to most harm when his personal shield is active. He can also survive in deep space when his personal shield is active, presumably using his powers to retain some amount of air around his body by which to breathe."
your telling me that vaders "force" could stop MULTIPLE NUKE DETONATIONS? this is so unreal people, magneto could be standing 5 inches from vader, tear the ship in half between the two and then crumple the half vader is in into a cube the size of your hand. vader has no chance.
What are you talking about? That very same source says, as the first sentence of Vader's section, "Darth Vader had quite possibly the strongest mastery over the Force of anyone who ever lived." Vader is consistently shown in the films to be undefeatable, right up to his death (which was arguable a defeat, arguably not). The number of times the supposedly ruthless and godlike Magneto has been defeated in the most trivial of manners is staggering - am I the only one who remembers Wolverine simply stabbing him? It is completely arbitrary to place restrictions on the force but say that electromagnetism is capable of tearing Vader to shreds.
Also, Galactus vs Magneto? Really?
Don't just base your view of Vader off the films in the recently released novel Death Star it pretty much confirms that Obi Wan was just playing for time in his fight against Vader and had no real intentions of winning the fight.
As to that line in Vaders section again based on the films in one book there are two Force users who manage to perform greater feats than Vader ever did.
That book being The Courtship of Princess Leia. Gethzerion, leader of the Nightsiders induces a stroke in Luke then starts breaking all of Han's bones in 3 the only reason he survives is he gets her started on his teeth early. The second is Luke himself once he has recovered as he is able to pilot the Falcon and fire the Quads with Meter accuracey on his own. This is before Luke really comes into his own as master of the new Jedi order.

Ok just basing it off 4-6 then what does Vader do.
Episode IV
Kill the captain of Tantiv IV by breaking his neck
Choke out an admiral
kill Obi Wan after Obi Wann turns his lightsaber off
get blasted arround by the Falcon
Episode V
Kill a couple of Captains using force choke
Absorb a blaster bolt form Han who then surrenders
Throw furniture around at Luke after it looks as though Luke is getting the upperhand then cut lukes hand off
Episode VI
Fight Luke to a standstill with Luke again getting the uppper hand but refusing to kill his father.
Throw the Emperor down a power shaft.
Vader does very little in any of the films. As Belgareth says he is used more as an ominous presence used mainly to get the Imperials working harder than to do anything overt.
Also for the comment you made about EU, for it to be considerd the Author has to have been licenced by Lucas Arts so it has as much authority as all 6 of the films.

your telling me that vaders "force" could stop MULTIPLE NUKE DETONATIONS? this is so unreal people, magneto could be standing 5 inches from vader, tear the ship in half between the two and then crumple the half vader is in into a cube the size of your hand. vader has no chance.

Episode VI

Throw the Emperor down a power shaft.
Vader does very little in any of the films. As Belgareth says he is used more as an ominous presence used mainly to get the Imperials working harder than to do anything overt.
Also for the comment you made about EU, for it to be considerd the Author has to have been licenced by Lucas Arts so it has as much authority as all 6 of the films.
