We still don't know exactly what this is yet right?
I mean, we guessed it's like a "Raid Deck" but we have had no official word, right? I hope this will get me back into multiplayer, but it will take me FOREVER to update all of my EDH decks.
I can't wait, I had a lot of fun at the planechase event last year. My store also uncovered some leftover Vanguard sets so I ended up with 8 Vangaurds.
In all seriousness, these scheme cards must be for those vertical arts we've been seeing. I'm guessing that the effects are going to be like the planes, except one-sided and much more powerful.
I can't wait to get these and develop a Planeswalking Archenemy fusion.

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

I hate to ask as this is probably something everyone already knows but me, but what exactly is the "Archenemy" set?
Is it a full new set or just some variant set with non-legal cards?
Sorry again for what is probably a totally stupid question.
Archenemy is probably going to be similar to Planechase, in that it will have novelty oversized cards for use with the one-versus-many Archenemy game rules. The cards printed will (in all likelyhood) be reprints of older cards, save for some "preview cards" from M11 or SOM they might throw in. I highly doubt Wizards will make anything but the 60-card precons that come with the 20-card oversize decks.

Well, we DO know that it's a new multiplayer variant (a la Planechase) that is meant to be played ONE vs MANY. Obviously the "one" player gets some sort of bonus, and this presumably scales with the number of opponents. Beyond that, we don't know much.
I was able to get my playgroup to play with Vanguards while using Planechase once, the game had 8 people, it took almost 3 hours, I wasn't able to convince them to do it again, but I would love to do an epic Planeswalking Vanguards vs an Archenemy game
Ah so Scheme is going to be some special prequisite the Archnemesis can do in order to auto-win. They players try to foil the scheme.
The big question is whether or not an Archnemesis uses a normal magic deck or not.
It'd be interesting to see different sets of cards legal for play by players and schemers.
I bet if they actually released a restricted/banned list on launch it'd be able to take off like planechase didn't.
That and make it so everyone can play if just one player owns it. Unlike the official rules for planechase, which apparently even the developers don't use.
Hmm...scheme cards can be colored by painter's servants (most likely) like planar cards...maybe players can use circles of protection to save themselves? Probably not if its autowin.
Assuming this is a win condition, all alternate win/loss condition cards should likely be banned (unless the card has other intents, like Lich or Immortal Coil).
Sigh! Another FAILURE of product release like Planechase. When will they realize that the exact target audience of these products (such as me) are exactly the very same who will never go to any sort of organized play event ever. And yet -- here they are starting the product loaded with "promo" cards from the get-go.
It's already irritating I have to ebay a new Plane card every time a new set comes out... Why can't they just not do that BS? What ever happened to them limiting those to foils or alternate-arts?

Heaven forbid you leave your house to play in a card shop!
These events are intended to stimulate and support the local game stores.
Your complaining is unwarranted, and 110% ridiculous.

Well, that doesn't make the product a failure. It's your choice to not go to organized play events. Planechase was an awesome event, though. It was unsanctioned as far as points and it was great to see even the pros coming out and laughing like school kids over the sillyness that happened constantly in planechase games.
Besides, the cost to buy any promo is far cheaper than playing in the tournament it's for or, especially in the case of player rewards or judge foils, the total costs in time, as well as money, to obtain them for "free". A promo plane is what? Two dollars?

Last I saw, they [Planechase and Archenemy] were to promote casual and multiplayer play styles, which is what myself and my friends mostly do. Nothing in the stuff I've seen written about it talks local game stores. Their "local shop release parties" has to do with that.
You don't think it's warranted that I complain about being handicapped at even legitimately acquiring the full product line because I don't want to deal with the *bleep* people who play at shops? Cuthroats, competitive *bleepers*, and other uncountable types of unsavory individuals.
Aside: They don't keep a good list of the cards even available in Gatherer (ie, late-if-ever additions) so I can make sure I get them all.

Funny, we have none of these where I go, we play EDH, 2HG, Emperor or planechase between rounds and before FNM and we have a blast.

Sorry to hear that your experiences have been so poor at your local shops. While its true there are always going to be some shops that do not promote the type of players and sportsmanship that can make for great playing experiences for everyone, I can honestly say this is hardly the case for all shops. Our shop has an excellent playerbase for multiplayer gaming. Besides, these events arent sanctioned. They are just meant to be a setting where people can come to enjoy the release of this new multiplayer product, get a sample of what the product has to offer, and enjoy being able to test the new product with other players from around your area.
Though we have 30-40 regulars that show up each week for our FNM tournaments each week, at least 1/2 or more of them also have EDH or similar multiplayer oriented decks to play casually with. And for us, Planechase was a hot seller, we ran out multiple times, and people love to play EDH or other versions with planechase, makes for some crazy games.
I personally am looking forward to the new product release to see what wizards came up with this time.
Even worse than an unfriendly shop is a non-existant one. I myself live in a rural Appalachian area. Despite this being a college town, the only card shop in town closed over a year ago, not long after I moved here. I actually would need to drive more than an hour to reach a B&M card shop.
It is a shame - I too am looking forward to seeing what WotC has created, even if the odds of me ever seeing these cards in person (let alone playing with them) are low.

Scheme cards make me think of the Event cards from the WoW TCG Onyxia Raid.

Ugh. I'm already tired of coding in Scheme.

My mind numbing DC-10 stack!
They do. The Archenemy products are 60-card Magic decks plus 10 oversized cards, just like Planechase.

Sorry to say this. You're close, but not quite. There are 20 oversized cards according to the original Arcana announcement.
