Hey everybody. Since I was younger I have always liked the idea of Megrim. I know it is not the greatest card around, but that never changed my feelings so recently I have been seeing so many cards that fueled my desire to play this personal favorite of mine (ex: burning inquiry and blightning). So I gathered what I had and picked up some other stuff and I have been playing with this.
I have been looking for ways of increasing the effects of the deck but haven't come up with too much yet. I know that I would rather not use blue in this deck although I can think of a few ways it would help. The big problem so far is creatures but where do I fit in my terminates?
Sorry for bad typing and few tags, but I am on my phone I will fix it later.
So do we have any sugestions? I posted this in the discard primer but it was almost ignored so I figured this might help.
Megrim is really bad. However, if you are looking for help with a Megrim deck, I can give you two pieces of advice.
1.) Dark Ritual. If you want Megrim to make an impact on the game, then you want it to enter play as quickly as possible. It also doesn't hurt to have a turn one "Swamp/Ritual/Duress/Hymn/Go."
2.) Stop playing Megrim.

"Whatever style you wish to play, be it fast and frenzied or slow and tactical, the surest way to defeat your opponent consistently is by dominating him or her in the war of card advantage." - Brian Wiseman, April 1996
Megrim isn't that bad...it's just ridiculously overused in casual. I do second the Dark Ritual suggestion though. First turn Ritual into Hymn + Duress is pretty brutal. I would take out the 4 Army Ants for them.
First the ants were just an idea. He isn't a staple but I liked it. He was brought to my list for a couple ideas.
1. I was told LD is great support for discard. As a Megrim deck it is discard. I also liked that he kept on LDing not like a sorcery that you used once.
2. I knew that I wanted to run this deck as black and red, so his colors just worked
3. Creature type: insect. Good for swarmyard which was also already in here for my rats.
Like I said he may not make the final cut, but I do like him. As for hypnotic specter, I just don't have a set yet, so I will work on that and they will at least be side boarded.
Second, yes... I know megrim isn't great. I already said that, but that is not what this thread is for. I am going to play it and I wanted to know ways to help make it better. If you have ideas on that, awesome, let me know. If you just want me to not play a card that I am on purpose playing then you can save your words. I am going to play it for fun.
Finally, YES! Dark rit! Why did I not think of that. I like the idea that turn 1 rit into Megrim and turn 2 hymn for 2 cards and 4 damage. Turn 3 thing would just let loose without haveing to play megrim then. That is exactlly what I need and I feel like a noon for not thinking of that before.
Well Mind Rot I have Hymn to Tourach, which is alot better aside from this being a two color deck.
And I don't like the quest too much. My group plays stuff like Sensei's devining top and such, so exactly 0 is tough to pull off consecutively.
I thought about her, and haven't tested it yet. It just seems like the rack and skullcage effects, but on a pair of legs, I can see beating in the extra 3 being nice.
Wheel of Fate - it either wins or helps you find a win condition.
Once you've got them drawing and discarding and cycling their deck to their yard, Haunting Echoes is takes away their winconditions.
Yeah, I like Incendiary, a lot. My only problem with Wheel of fate is that I don't want to wait 4 turns. I do have wheel of fate in my Emperor version of this deck though.
Haunting Echos might see some testing. Maybe only as a 1 of or a 2 of, or maybe even sideboarded.
That's cool. I don't think I will go the madness route with this one.
I do however like Anvil of Bogardan. It would force them to discard during their draw, so they cannot play instants and prevent the discard. MEGRIM HITS!

The deck would have: Anvil of Bogardan and Burning Inquiry, lots of
Madness (Reckless Wurm and Grave Scrabbler, dark Withering)
Unearth (Rotting Rats)
