Now recruiting for a brand new clan, "The Princes of Pauper." We are a rag-tag group of impoverished plainswalkers, weak and impecunious. We are only able to cast the most feeble of spells. But we have a darn good time doing it! What we lack in spellcraft, we more than make up in plucky wit and rougish good looks.
We are champions of the common man's Magic and horders of ancient spells of unbalanced power.
We also play T2, but here, the motto stands: "We don't take no Jitte!"
What is Pauper Magic?
Don't be fooled! There are two variant formats of Magic play that start with 'P.' Here, we're mainly concerned with PAUPER, which is ALL COMMONS, ALL THE TIME.
For the record:
Peasant: All commons, 5 uncommons allowed. PAUPER: All commons, NO UNCOMMONS, NO RARES.
From the article "Poor IntoTheAether" by Jay Moldenhauer-Salazar:
"In Pauper Magic, you can build any sixty-card deck you want... provided you only use commons. For Magic Online, the accepted rules of Pauper are that all commons are legal (except, sometimes, Cranial Plating). Uncommons that have online common equivalents, like the Circles of Protection, Chromatic Sphere, and Stream of Life, are legal. Uncommons that have common equivalents before Invasion, however, are illegal."
Pre-Invasion cards are only considered common if their most recently printed rarity was common.

As much as I dislike puns, and lord knows the motto is, I think I will steal the current quotation for GP and say "The Princes of Pauper! ...Sign me up :symw:"
Screw the new duals, I can't wait for the new bounce lands.
Seriously, man. Between them and the signets, my "counter-burn" deck will be improved tenfold. I shall share a decklist once I have "polished" it to a glimmering talc finish.
EDIT: Here's a list I compiled of all the common card drawing spells (does not include cantrips) available to us. I'm putting it here for lack of a better place. But I'm sure we'll have a library soon. That's how I am.
A careful auditing session has revealed that this clan is currently at a state of "Games" (22.0) moving sharply into "Postulates" (30.0) on the tone scale. As the membership base continues to grow and thrive, I believe that the "Serenity of Beingness" shall soon be within our grasp. I, on behalf of L. Ron, both endorse this clan as having achieved the level of "clear" and submit my request for membership.
... actually, as we are now a clan, I cannot continue to live this comical lie. I am not a scientologist. They are, however, hilarious.
Anyway, this weekend, after "Dead Week" projects, papers and presentations are done, I will put up my new deck list with the cards I ordered from CardShark. Hopefully will help me from getting to an end game by having some better low and mid-level creatures for the deck.
I think we should expand the scope of the clan to also include the cards which I like to affectionately refer to as the "Forgotten Rares"... The Grozoths and Unspeakables of the Magic world. The titans whose names evoked laughter when you told your friends that you were considering running them in your deck. These worthless cards need a home too, after all.

Makes me think of my favorite card...Autochthon Wurm. I drafted 2 of those in 1 draft and played them BOTH...man, that draft sucked.
R/W Aggro deck. Even though I have not played magic regularly until recently, I have always enjoyed white. Looking forward to the Syndicate and Senate in GP and DIS.
Will put my deck up when I have more time this weekend, nothing real special about it but have had fun playing it and, I suppose, that's what matters most.

It sounds like this clan was custom-tailored to Chris' style of playing, huh? The Action Man is the "patron saint" of the Princes of Pauper!
I will give TAM credit, he defiantly can come up with some creative ways to play decks that baffle me. That's probably why I prefer the more straightforwardness of my white decks
Sea's Claim + Sea Monster = Sea of Pain (or Seasures). I was quite tempted to attempt that combo today while browsing my local hobbyshoppe's box of 10-cent commons. I saw my share of Sea Monsters in there, let me tell you!
I ended up with a dodgy lot of aven that met their untimely demise at the claws of the Stinkweed Imp and the bow of the Skyshroud Archer. Good commons when you know your friend is playing fliers. =(
I'm currently working on a banner right now for the clan. My idea is all 15 of the "charms" with Prince of Paupers in one corner and "Aren't we charming?" in the other. Any comments or ideas for a different one?

What, no Ancestral? That's lame.
Ah well, put me as a friend, I love the idea of this clan.
Isn't Ancestral, like, EXPENSIVE and HARD TO GET? We are poor, literally. We can't do it. But yeah, you can be a friend.
(The inclusion of Healing Salve should have tipped you off that it was more or less a joke. I hope.)
