The walls of reverence are my placeholder until I get my Baneslayers. Because right now running 11 walls out of 21 creatures makes me feel awkward to say the least. I tend to lay down all the walls/missionaries from my hand and then make them extend into my DoJ then play down all the Serra's/Sovereign/tokens to great success, so it doesn't seem terrible, but I know I could play a strong midrange if I dropped 4 walls for 4 Baneslayers. I'm not usually very big on long game control decks, and I'm starting to get a bad rep for going to turns on game 2 of my matches
I wouldnt say its control... just prolongs... were late game argo
yeah. baneslayers will end the game alot faster for you.
ok new to the posts here...
Main question, why wouldn't a card like Ajani's Pridemate be more of an auto include for this type of deck? It seems that playing wall and stall this creature could get big off the life gaining..
Thoughts?
@ kidlantern how can you destroy a BLACK creature with Pro of White with your Devout Lightcaster ok you can block black knight... but wall of omen can do the same job? no?
Nothing white can block black knight, even a pro black creature. just board in brittle effigy if you're worried about the pro-white dudes.

It gets big but you have no way of guarenteeing damage. It dies to every form of removal in the game and it does not aid with getting your threats (Serra Ascendant/Felidar Sovereign/Luminarch Ascension/BSA) online. The point is to get a board presence where you're gaining life and using that to it's best effect. Some people play aggro lifegain, some people are playing more of a control/midrange build with walls. The pridemate is decent, but theres better stuff to play over him in the 2CMC slot that has a recursion effect. I think the pridemate would shine in a mono white tokens deck, featuring soul wardens and possibly the green leyline. slap a sword of vengeance or whispersilk cloak on him and he'd be a beast

ok i was just fast typing and i didn't realise that lol But i still wonder why kidlantern proposed a Devout Lightcaster against Pro of white "creatures"?
all we can do is maindeck 4 DoJ for these creature. Because, be realist Brittle Effigy is a little too expensive to play

I know the last couple decks listed have not used ajani's pridemate, but if I want to run it in my version do you guys think that soul's attendant might be worth it then. Maybe as a 3 of or 4 of. If dropped on turn one then it could mean lots of life gain triggers and lots of counters for pridemate. I don't think it will actually gain that much life but I also like it because it helps against token decks or just fast agro critter decks since you gain life when their critters hit the field as well. What do you guys think?

Thats my take on the Pridemate. It's a decent card but you have to dedicate soulwardens and token generation to make it big and other cards to get it through. In the current meta, I don't think it's strong enough to really do much.
Just for new people reading please, read my post on the first page. I update it often. it has ALOT of info.
Why emerge and brave main deck? I would make brave a sideboard card and slap in the ascendants maindeck at least. You're only playing 6 creatures that you want to attack with and only two of those three gain life from damage. the 8of soul warden also troubles me a little, i know it makes the pridemate big but you lose the game to a pyroclasm(or worse, you have multiple wardens and a pridemate and land a creature, lifegain on the stack Volcanic Fallout, you lose everything.). i would play 4 or 6 wardens and fill the slots opened with some beaters personally. Just my 2cents.
In a time where we dont have the greatist removal... and bond could kill our enemies? sure. (to splashing black)
to Myounka: hey I made that fast! once someone tests a better "fast argo lifegain deck" that works I'll replace it (and the Idea was to pretect pridemane so he doesnt loose all his counters
Hey I'm updating our first page. Id love to get help with it. right now I've added 2 sections Id love to get feed back from. "mvp section" not life link or health gain, but helps the deck regardless, EX: luminarch ascension
Color splashes, what cards can go in this deck from different colors? how would the color help it.
Also ANY match reports would be awesome to go in the match report section... which at this point... only has my stuff in it.

I'd love to, but FNM is solidly draft for the next month at my LGS and my friends don't have legit tier decks, they're missing key pieces of accel and other stuff. Also I'm running a very seperate strategy than your deck, so my match reports are going to be very different(I don't have baneslayer, so I don't have that out, and saying that "Iona is key" doesn't help you because you don't have one). That being said, I run Mythic Bant at FNM's usually and this deck gets there if you play smart and slow. You need to O-ring the planeswalkers ASAP, and when you see sovereigns/rafiq path it before declare attacks. a turn 4 DoJ(on the play) to kill the Cobra's and Heirarchs is enough for them to scoop to game 2, but they're going to be ready to fight for every inch after that, and they CAN kill you on turn 3 with T1 land, heirarch, t2 cobra, land, heirarch t3 play a land, sovereigns, swing with 15/15 cobra with annilhator 2 and trample.(Theres also chances of pumping out 5mana on turn 2 to play rafiq and then 6 the following turn for the sovereigns for 32 damage. I have done it, theres like a .0001% chance you get the exact 10 cards to pull it off because you have to use the fetches and you shuffle but still, you will get annilated)

The big thing for me in this "aggro" version ...is the following
1) Where is Ranger of Eos? he grabs lifegainers, he grabs serra ascendant. He helps you recover from sweepers. He grabs other good cards like scute mob. Desperately need that card in the deck.
2) Elspeth wants a spot here. Constant creature generation seems really good in that build with the numerous soul warden effects.
3) Ditto for Emeria Angel. Lands -> bird.
Regardless, not sure I like the 8-warden plan for the reasons listed. Your only outs are to carefully protect your horde with brave the elements, but even that might not be enough with day of judgment (though ranger helps), and all is dust (a - colorless, b - sac gets around protection, indestructibility).

true. I never tested it out. and I really made it fast. If anyone wants to make an fast argo life gain, do it! I'll add it to the first page as the example for it. Its not my cup of tea. I perfer the slower version
I've been lurking this thread for awhile, built a similar build, and I have to say, I'm very surprised with how this plays. Generally lifegain isn't the best route to go, but all these builds take such advantage of the cardpool we have in standard. One card I'm surprised no one seems to be running in the slower Emeria builds, is Transcendent Master. He takes a bit of build up, but his recurrability via both Emeria and Sun Titan as well as his ability to survive your own DoJ both point to a great option.
I'm still fiddling with my build as far as numbers and what works, but when I finish it I'll post. So far, my experiences with the wall set up and stall methods that kidlantern has been posting have been great, with my only concern being that we may need a bit more spot removal maindeck, as well as answers to control decks, which have proven to be my toughest matchup.

hey, if he works out, then sure. I like him. Id love to use him. Tell me how it goes. If it does work out. Id probably drop one catch and a serra for him. I see him as a 2 off since he takes so much mana.
Edit
I decided to try him out as a 2 of taking out one catch (which I dont like doing) and a serra. I figure, he dies to bolt and other removal like serra, but it give me a late game option not depenedent on life and he could help me early if I need time. If he dies he can get reoccurred, but I'll have 8 mana by then and its ok... Plus he makes up for the time I'm not using mana around turn 7...
Should I take out the Ajani's Pridemates? They seem to always land in my hand and I always seem to want something else, I was wanting Luminarch Ascension but is everybody having good vibes with that card? Because Pridemate is just not good enough for me, also should Felidar Sovereign be main deck or sideboard?

I'm wondering that as well. Well the felidar thing. I think i need some flying defense. Since if it flys I'm dead. I took out one ascendent and one survival catch and it didnt hurt at all (probably helped) but transcendent didnt fill the gap. I'm thinking I need maybe skyfisher, but I dont know. I also think felidar might fit the bill, since he's got life link and can defend like crazy.
as far as pridemate goes, I have a thing at the begining you should look at that talks about whether to use him or not. I'm going to mod the fast argo deck with a little more care also.
See, the only problem I have with Felidar is that once they know you play Life Gain they usually save enough removal for your Felidars, luckily my friends don't play much removal at all and they cannot stop the Ascendants coming online turn 3 and then I'm at 36 and they're at 12. (That's with a perfect opening hand of course but still.)
Easiest is:
Let it add in as another win condition so you have more angles to win from. (baneslayer/LA/felidar/serra A)
Ps. Like your name
With that in mind I desided my two open slots go to felidar... which frees up my side board! yay!
What do you guys think the best side board is for this type of deck?
I tried Brave the Elements but my friend (lets call him Dustin), Dustin always has 3 terminates, it's no lie he always has 3 terminates throughout the course of the game, but he also has almost all death marks.Which is so deadly for me, because then I'd have no wincons. Brave the Elements works for that one turn, but because I know he has two mana open at all time I cannot be aggressive and wait for him to use it on Felidar.
But I have decided he's a MD. (I am using Battle Grace angel over BSA, not because it's better but because it's more affordable.)
