2010 Pauper Power Rankings!! Because everything else has been taken over by Pauper.
"He just couldn't bear the screaming anymore. Castle Raptors closed his eyes, chirped a quick prayer to the desolate gods of the now-destroyed Dominaria, and brought the blade swiftly down. Later, they brought Lairwatch Giant out of the arena in bloodsoaked cloth..."
Time for voting, people. This is where the real action happens, where voices are raised and arguments begin. Because this isn't just ranking cards for the sake of better cubing. No, this is life-or-death, with every card's soul on the line. With every moment passing, they get closer to death, or life...
...Sorry, just getting too excited. Moving on~
Here's how it works. You may vote for any card that has been printed as a common. That means, for the ME cubers out there, you can't vote for cards only commons in Masters Edition.
Here is an example of someone's vote (don't take it seriously, I just pulled the card choices out of my ass):
And then, I'll give each card on the list a point (20 for 1st, 19 for 2nd, and so on and so forth). Then, the points will be added up, averaged out by the number of voters, and put into their own list of Top 20.
Voting will open on Sundays and Wednesdays, which are the times I have the most time to focus on this. Votes begun on Sunday will close on Wednesday, and votes begun on Wednesday will end on Sunday. The only exception to this is for white, which will begin on Monday and end on Sunday. If necessary, votes will be kept open for more participation. We want at least 10, please.
At the end of each voting period, I will take the last post you made with a ranking in it.
Oh, and all times will be measured EST, or Australian, Sydney time. I want no confusion.
White (Sunday, 18th of July)
Blue (Sunday, 25th of July)
Black (Sunday, 1st of August)
Red (Sunday, 8th of August)
Green (Wednesday 11th of August)
Artifacts (Sunday, 15th of August)
Multicolor (Wednesday, 19th of August)
Lands (Sunday, 23rd of August)
Overall (Sunday, 31st of August)
O-Ring and Fetters were the only commons to be ranked in the Official Power Rankings, and I predict that they're going to be top 2 here, but that's just my opinion.
I assume that Guardian of the Guildpact will be Top 5, if not the best. We need to think in terms of Pauper Cube, not overal cube. O-ring doesn't have as much of an impact, as we don't play with planeswalkers and broken artifacts, enchantments, etc. Journey to Nowhere > Oblivion Ring, methinks.
I think they're relatively equal, but I'd give it to O-Ring as it can deal with Signets, equipment, most white removal, things like Spreading Seas/Fertile Ground and Tortured Existence, and all for only 1 more. It's not miles better like in regular cube, but I think it's better.
Agreed on Guardian of the Guildpact, but still seeing fetters or O-Ring in the top spot.
Oh, to make it easier on everyone, here's a ruling: when the voting period ends, I will take your last post with a rankings in it as your official vote.
This is a great idea. Are we gonna have to update it though as new sets are released?
For the other power rankings we've done one vote per year to keep it updated. This allows players to get enough testing in with new cards to make an informed vote. I'd suggest that Lanxal try to keep that same schedule.

I disagree... I think that there are still enough artifacts and enchantments that can have a significant impact on the game that i'd choose o-ring over journey.
The way you're evaluating cards is what order you would pick them for P1P1. For example, if you open your first pack in a draft and you see an Oblivion Ring and a Journey to Nowhere, which one would you pick? (assuming that all the other cards are not better than those two).
Yeah, their just aren't as many Pauper cubers as their are regular cubers. Even with only six votes, I think you'll get a good idea of what's the best cards in Pauper cubes.
Part of the reason I didn't vote is that I have never played a single game of pauper, so I am not sure about the relative card evaluations. What constitutes a bomb? Are the games all evasive races? Is pinging a dominant strategy? Is it all about opening Pestilence? How good is a 3/3 flyer?
That said, in the white listings, these cards seem a few picks too low:
Blinding Beam
Cage of Hands
Kabuto Moth

Okay, time to start off some discussion: What card's getting the full 20 for you?
These seem to be the major players to me
White isn't terribly powerful overall.
O-Ring and Fetters were the only commons to be ranked in the Official Power Rankings, and I predict that they're going to be top 2 here, but that's just my opinion.

Currently, the top card is Fetters, beating out Guardian by one, which is beating out O-Ring by 4. That's if you count every vote as serious.
Draft it on Cubetutor!
Yeah, I wish we had more voters... like with all statistics, the more data acquired, the more close to truth you get.
Should we try posting this voting thread on the card eval thread or the discussion thread?
And, I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by P1P1...
