They won't be laylines. Laylines are a little 'special' as they do something no other card does, and I know MaRo likes to keep cards like Laylines from being too common.
It'll be a new cycle of cards that will function like something we've never seen before, so I look forward to it.
And to prove my point, won't a new cycle of Laylines just be a stupid and uninteresting thing? Give me some more in another 3-5 years.

"I've always been a fan of reality by popular vote" - Stephen Colbert (in response to Don McLeroy)
Actually, the answer is 11 due to Gemstone Caverns. Serum Powder almost makes the cut but not quite since it takes effect before your opening hand is "chosen".
I hope it'll be Gemstone Caverns for each color...might make faster combo decks in vintage pretty nutsy though (having 24 "free" land? Yikes...).
EDIT: Oh wait...Leyline of the Void was reprinted...there's no "2 black leyline"...blerg...I'm stupid.
That's like Rosewater saying "There will be something we try new this year that we haven't done before!" It doesn't really give us anything. It's not really news news. Let the speculation begin!
They've just done Leylines 2.0. It's much more likely to be a cycle of something novel. If the Scars-is-Alternate-Win-Conditions-Block theory (from Speculation) is to be believed, then it may be a cycle of Enchantments that would enable such a thing (or, to further distinguish from Leylines, Instants that create Emblems to create AWCs, but now I'm edging into Epileptic Trees territory).
Personally i'm gonna say that since enchantments and land has been done. It only makes since(obviously:)) that they are going to have instants and sorceries that you can play at the beginning of the game for the flavor of being a planeswalker you would have a personal spell that you can cast anytime.

Since Rosewater stated that in a years time, even though that could just be a general time frame. with scars at least a 3 set block and a core set after that (1 full year), it does seem likely that scars would contain the new cycle.
Since there will be 5 of them and leyline abilities don't seem to be color specific, i think its pretty safe to assume that they will be one of each color.
Hoping they are color flavored cards.
Maybe they all have on color effects and can be played for free from opening hand:
RR - instant - Deal 3 damage to any target.
2UU - Instant- Your opponent discards the top 7 cards of their library
GGG - Creature beast - 2/3
2WW -instant - Gain 5 life.
1BB - instant - Your opponent discards a card at random
Just off the top of my head. Would be pretty sweet.
Cycle of 2 mana artifacts that etbt and tap to add one of a color. If in opening hand put it in for free.
As nice as that sounds.. I dunno if i'd actually want to see it happen.

I'd call this cycle "Mox when it counts Jet", etc
Anyway, I don't think we're having more leylines, it would remove the special feeling about those cards.

Alea iacta est
I'm a Spike Vorthos - I love lore and flavor, but only if the cards are competition worthy.
I could see a cycle of 2 mana artifacts that enter the battlefield tapped and tap for 1 of each respective color of mana, and can be played for free if they are in your opening hand. It's simple and elegant. That's my guess.
It's probably a 5 card, one of each color cycle. From the clue, it could be any effect. My guess would be: One shot effects that are smaller versions of the card's effect. For green it could be a 3/3 that if present in your opening hand, gives you a 1/1. The red one could deal 3 damage, and deal 1 damage if in your opening hand.
With MaRo mentioning that the number will increase by 5, we can assume it is a cycle. However, we might not see it in Scars Block; it may be reserved for M12. That caveat aside, a land cycle makes the most sense to me.
White Land
Rare (slight chance of Uncommon)
Land
If ~ is the only land card in your opening hand, you may reveal your hand to your opponents and search your library for two Plains and put them onto the battlefield. If you do, exile ~.
~ enters the battlefield tapped.
:symtap:: Add to your mana pool.
Rinse, lather, repeat for the other four colors.
If we do see the cycle in Scars Block, mana producing artifacts might make sense as well. I see it with a similar take to the land, though.
White Mana Factory
Rare (unlikely Mythic)
or :3mana::symw: (I expect some colored artifacts)
Artifact
If you have no land cards in your opening hand, you may reveal your hand to your opponents. If you do, put ~ onto the battlefield.
:symtap:: Add :symw::symw: to your mana pool.
Again, repeat for the other colors.
Just more random speculation until a spoiler season reveals a card with the phrase "opening hand." New check word for each Orb now - "opening."

Oh god, that thing would be broken. Just slam a bunch of those into a "use only colorless" type deck, and BAM (with no lands). You've ramped out to a billion on turn 1.
Suffice it to say, something like that is beyond broken.

If ~this~ is in your opening hand W Gain 3 life U Draw 1 B Opponent discards 1 R 2 damage G 1/1 token
They could be put on simple creatures like a 2/1 firststrike for R or a 1/1 flier for U.
Something like that is what I would do

Making more leylines is too obvious, but right now every color but black has two. So maybe just one new leyline?
Leyline of Corruption :2mana::symb::symb:
Enchantment
If Leyline of Corruption is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it in play. Artifacts you control have :symtap:: add to your mana pool.
Leyline of Power :2mana::symb::symb:
Enchantment
If Leyline of Power is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it in play. Creatures you control have deathtouch.
His question was asking for cards that "referenced your opening hand". It doesn't have to be the leyline ability that lets you start with it in play. It doesn't even have to be a cycle. It could be 5 legendary creatures that say something like "If (cardname) is in your opening hand, you may search your library for a creature named (cardname's brother) and put it in your hand".
Or maybe it could be some huge 6 or 7 cost creature and have something along the lines of "if in your opening hand, reveal it, and it does some 1 mana ability for its color". But this is all just speculation anyway. I'm pretty sure MaRo gets his jollies from people speculating off the tiniest of tidbits he gives out.
EDIT: Damn, someone beat me to the latter of my ideas.
"How many Magic cards have the words "opening hand" in their rules text?"
Current answer: 10
..stated that
"If I asked this trivia question a year from now, what would the answer be?"
"Fifteen."
Looks like leylines may become a standard card design. Then again could be a land cycle such as gemstone mine.

It'll be a new cycle of something... at this point, we have no way of knowing.
No, that's the 10th card. There are only 9 different Leylines.
There's dozens of things you can do with the phrase "opening hand". There isn't much to go on here.
