Hello all I am looking for some suggestions to help make my Sliver Queen deck a bit better. I find that it is always better to crowd source these types of things because it is so difficult for one person to remember every possibly applicable card.
First, my rules: I play in semi competitive play groups, but we don't play combo(easy combo at least), mass land D, mass hand D or infinite combos. With that said, I will never say a suggestion is stupid, it may not be in line with the direction I want to take my deck, but it will never be stupid.
Second, the deck is not a sliver deck. It is a deck based around being able to make a ton of sliver tokens. The two main components of the deck are Gaea's Cradle (alternatively Coffers and Urborg) and Sliver queen. When these two are in play, good things happen.
That is the whole deck. As you can see it is a land heavy deck, which I am happy with. I like abusing Oracle of Mul-Daya and other effects that let me play extra lands (Exploration and Azusa Especially). These also combo well with Crucible and fetch lands. If I am ever playing against 'geddon effects I can recover quickly because of these cards.
The game ending 'combos' in this deck are:
Giant Mana + Exanguinate
Giant Mana + Queen + Vindicate Sliver
Prismatic Omen + Scapeshift + Valakut (+ Vesuva) This is a difficult to assemble combo which can end a game or clear a board. It can also come out of no where which is a plus. Each piece is useful in its own right (except Valakut) which is an added bonus.
Obvious Synergies:
Sliver Queen + Cradle +Mana Reflection or Wake
Primeval Titan + (Urborg & Coffers)
Garruk + (Cradle v (Coffers + Urborg))
(Trade Routes + ((Exploration v Azusa) v Oracle of Mul-Daya))) + (Cabal Coffers v Gaea's Cradle) [I can return the land and replay it tapping for more mana]
Trade Routes + Bojuka Bog = Fantastic graveyard hate. Bogging a re-animator deck every turn is nuts. Also Trade routes can save my lands from LD.
Anyway, what do you think? What would make this better? Are there any synergies I am missing? Thanks in advance.
You have an awful lot of spells in the 6 to 9 mana range for a deck with only 40 lands and at best 5 mana acceleration effects. Try something like 38 lands and 15 to 20 accelerators, then focus on the very best non-mana cards. You have access to all the tutors, so it shouldn't be too hard.
Also, you should play Global Ruin because over half of all decks automatically fold when that spell resolves.
The problem with defining [EDH] by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
The above not only allows endless spamming, it allows you to throw your whole hand, and, if you have Sliver Overlord in play, your whole library's worth of Slivers.
This one's about the same as the previous, just that you'll tap the tokens that you just produced to make another token, due to Queen's 'birthing' ability being reduced to 1 mana cost from Training Grounds
I'm running the above combos in my deck, so I know they work. I'd leave out all the non-sliver mana producers and play more cards that allow you to get Gemhide Sliver on a more consistent basis. Tutors like Worldly Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, [c]
Eladamri's Call[/c] will help you get the combo pieces together.
I know you said no easy infinite combos... but Mana Echoes is literally crying to be in the deck. Like seriously.
On a more on topic suggestion Genesis also seems useful when there are slivers you want back. I noticed the Sun Titan and Eternal Witness, so I think it should be in the same vein
EDIT: I do not know how to spell things properly . At All.
Mana Echoes has been in the deck before. Unfortunately every game then turns into: Tutor for Mana Echos, Play Mana Echos, Mana Echos gets destroyed, Recur it, Repeat until they run out of removal, then Win with 1.7 trillion sliver tokens.
Genesis has also been in the deck before. He is never bad, but without a sac outlet he is hard to abuse. I suppose he is good late game to recur my titans and e-witness. Any suggestions on what card should go out for it?
The old Sliver Queen combo always included Ashnod's Altar. On its own, it can help sacrificing a sliver token that's on the way to die, to pay for a new one from the queen. If you control either Heartstone or Training Grounds next to it however, you can sacrifice one sliver to make 2 with the Queen. Then sacrifice one of those and make two more... and so on.
It may be a little too easy for you, but, in a highlander deck...
Arkham, the 1920's. Investigators battle horrors from beyond time and space, risking life and sanity while conspiracies of cultists and malign servitors seek gateways for their outer gods to return...
