I don't like M11 much either, personally. The only reason I've done even six drafts (or something like that) is because of the upcoming Grand Prix.
I always draft whatever I "have to", so I'd draft it anyway, but I oddly like M11. Well, it's not that odd; if I'm winning I'll probably like the format. The strange thing to me is that I'm doing so much better in M11 draft than in RoE.
To compare: during RoE I lost about 150 tix total. I estimate I did 80-100 drafts, so that's -1.5 to -2 tix per draft. So far in M11 I'm 8 wins / 3 finals / 3 semis and 3 first round losses. That's 8x5 + 3x1 - 6x3 = +25 packs. I think I manage to draft 2 tix per draft as well (because there's really not much raredrafting, and a lot of the rares are still worth something) so that makes +6 tix per draft. I'm quite sure that's the most profit I've ever had. Of course this will go down as the format grows older (with booster and rare prices going down) but after PT Amsterdam I won't be drafting anyway. But right now, I'm happily drafting M11.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
W may only be paid with white mana. U may only be paid with blue mana. B may only be paid with black mana. R may only be paid with red mana. G may only be paid with green mana. C may only be paid with colorless mana. 1 may be paid with white, blue, black, red, green, or clolorless mana.
To compare: during RoE I lost about 150 tix total. I estimate I did 80-100 drafts, so that's -1.5 to -2 tix per draft.
That's not bad. I lost about that per draft during RoE too - or would have done had I not opened a Gideon - and it was one of my better formats.
I think the conclusion we have to draw here is that you rock at M11 to an absurd degree!

<Limited Clan>
I was incredibly successful during Lorwyn through Eventide, and still have quite a few packs leftover from those days. Not sure what it was about those formats, but I generally did quite well and came out ahead more often than not.
In M11 so far, as in most core sets, I do pretty good. I enjoy core set draft so I have alot of experience with it and I usually make at least the finals. I think my record so far is 2 wins, 4 finals losses, 1 semis loss and 2 first round losses.
ZZZ/ZZW was so-so for me. If I had to guess I'd say I performed about average, which to me would mean losing tix/packs more than winning them.
ROE was actually pretty bad for me. I really like the format but just never found the opportunity to draft it much. I did reasonably well when it was still new to everyone but six weeks into it I was very behind on the learning curve and found myself losing to more focused decks on a regular basis. By the time I figured it out and turned things around everyone had moved on to M11.
It's more that people always overvalue removal. Really, if they make a card ":symb:: Sorcery: As an additional cost, get F'd in the A. Destroy target creature." people will say "removal is removal" and first-pick it.
My worst limited block was Shards, though one of the reasons is probably that I played it for the first time in April, and that was only one time before I got back to the game fully in June.
I'd say these were roughly my average Modo ratings for the various formats I've played a reasonable amount of:
TPF - 1750 - I was quite new to limited, actually. I only managed to get 1800 for the first time in May...
LLL - 1820 - I got 1900 for the first time during the release. People were passing Mulldrifters all over the place
LLM - 1770 - darn reinforcers I never really figured out Morningtide.
SSS - 1860 - a really neat format suiting my style. Loved me some Gnarled Effigy...
SSE, AAA, AAC - never played online (I played some Eventide in real life however)
ACR - 1770 - too much forcing 5CC I suppose
ME3 - 1880 - Brilliant Plan, that's all I'm saying.
ZZZ - 1830 - crashed and burned in the beginning, but learned to play aggressive decks after a while...
ZZW - 1860 - feels good to draw three again.
RRR - 1930 - Mnemonic Wall, Enclave Cryptologist, Emrakul's Hatcher, Surreal Memoir, how can I ever thank you enough?
Pretty safe to say that Rise has been my best format so far. Kind of wish I had attended some GPs with that format, but oh well. I'm quite sure I can't keep it up, unless Wizards decide to keep making limited formats that slow

I'm planning on doing a kamigawa block draft tomorrow night seeing as it's nix tix. I don't know if they have Swiss nixtix but if anyone wants to join me I love the flavor but have never played it so you get a 1/7 chance of a free win!

Thanks, I took your/Smellyrebel's name and chopped it down a little.
As per last time, I won't be changing the link in my sig until this thread is 30-some pages long.
I always forget that tordeck and jskura are "friends of limited."
I want to give someone an officer bump. How about a little write-in? PM me with someone you'd like to see bumped to officer. It should be a frequent poster who is helpful to other members both here and in the subforum.
So, i played in the m11 champs on saturday. I had a decent pool, but i realized in r3 i built it all wrong. I'm at work, away from my modo files, but i'll be posting the pool when i get home from work. I went 3-3 drop, but i probably should have been 5-1 at that point.
Oh, my username on MTGO is ArcadicGamer if you want to add it to the OP.
So someone PM'ed me and mentioned that Tahn is not only not an officer, but he wasn't on the member roster. o.O
This is an oversight. Tahn is definitely a member of Limited, and I am pretty sure that I meant to make him an officer when he joined. So now he is. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Official AEther Adept of limited, Tahn.
Write-ins for officer are still open. I'm not counting Tahn because that was apparently just a clerical oversight. Could've sworn he was on the list.

A clan is like a place for casual discussion for a group of people that share something. In this case, it's a special preference for limited, so we obviously talk a lot about that, but also about anything else. So... welcome!
There aren't too many computer games I like, but I love Heroes III. Unfortunately, it crashes about every five or ten minutes, and there has been nothing I could do about it, and I could never find out what the problem was. But now I tried to fool around with some color settings/compatibility modes and stuff like that, and like with some kind of miracle, it worked! Time to get antisocial...
Edit: Any of you seen 2001: A Space Odyssey? I watched it for the first time last night, and I fell in love. Such a beautiful movie...

See, limited. =)
You post in the clan thread about once every two days, that actually makes you one of the more active members. Your posts also tend to be related to magic, which is more than most of the regular posters can say.

Welcome, Kat!
Limited is always recruiting, welcome to the clan! As per our usual rules, your name will be added to the roster on your second post in the thread.
You beat me to it. Added.
Edit: Sene is right. When I made this clan, I really didn't know what it would be for, or if it would be terribly redundant with the Limited Subforum. I did feel that there was a community on this site surrounding limited play, and drafting is definitely my favorite format. I had a big fear that this clan would be "pointless" and that anything worth talking about here would just be easier to talk about in the subforum.
In my opinion, the clan has been a success so far. The first time I really felt like, "yeah, this clan needed to be made," was when Tahn was mowing down the competition at GP Lyon. There isn't really a place in the subforum to root for your fellow drafters, and all of us following day one and day two of Lyon, all the way down to the second showdown against Florian, only really could've happened here.
It has been a great hang out spot for people who are drawn to the game for the same reason, and I feel like the people here would still make a great community even if you removed the M:tG element. I also hope that the people who joined this clan in the hopes of improving their competitive game are getting what they wanted out of it, too. There seems to be a lot of good, sort of organically flowing limited discussion, and the clan drafts seem to be going well, so I like to think that everyone is getting what they need out of this clan.
On that note, (and this is to everyone,) if there is something you would like to see from the clan in the future, let me know and we will try to get it organized. I've been very happy with what has grown out of this so far, so you should all be proud of yourselves for making [Limited] the place it is today.
anything worth talking about here would just be easier to talk about in the subforum.
Personally there's a lot of things I think are much better off in this thread than over there even though they're related to limited. Anything which is basically just smalltalk doesn't really merit a thread on the forum where it will be seen by hundreds of people.
On that note, (and this is to everyone,) if there is something you would like to see from the clan in the future, let me know and we will try to get it organized.
Free cake every Wednesday!
Also, more people should post Spotify playlists since I've run out of exciting new stuff to listen to.

I really like the sound of that, Promatim. Beyond the magic talk, it'd be nice to also have a community setting to be surrounded by, being I'm prone to moving - And that makes it hard to make friends (as cheesy as that sounds). Now, I don't know how much I can contribute as I'm not a Pro nor have I been playing as long as some BUT I would definitely like to stick around, even if it's just to learn. :3
You're one step ahead of me then, I didn't even know Clans has to be "for" something!
Usually not, but in this case I'd have guessed it was made to make a more close-knit limited community on MtGS. Which it definitely has. I mean, I've seen most of you around even before this clan (especially Bateleur, who's been here even longer than me), but I didn't know who anyone was, and who I should come to for limited advice, and I probably had more snappy replies back then. I also didn't really have any incentive to post anything, but now I feel like I do. I also think I've improved my game thanks to this clan (and the side-effect of me being more active in the limited forum), and I hope I've helped improving other people's too.
Quote from bateleur »

I don't really know what Spotify is other than that it's quite popular around here. But these are some of my current favorite songs: Maybe I'm a Leo - Deep Purple Welcome, Ghosts - Explosions in the Sky It's Natural to Be Afraid - Explosions in the Sky Subterranean Homesick Alien - Radiohead Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden Oslo Skyline - Jaga Jazzist No Quarter - Led Zeppelin Nothing Else Matters - Metallica Kashmir - Led Zeppelin Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd Echoes - Pink Floyd (this is the best song ever, period) Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd Day 4 - Explosions in the Sky Siva - The Smashing Pumpkins Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple Shine on You Crazy Diamond pt 1 & 2 - Pink Floyd I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead - Mogwai Thank You Space Expert - Mogwai
Would of course recommend them all. My favorite genres, as you can see, are rock, in particular instrumental rock, jazz, some metal and some classical.
Certainly have in my case. As you know I tend towards aggro approaches (or aggro-control when I can get it, which is seldom in Limited). But my control game is getting slowly better and a fair bit of that is thanks to you and Tahn.
In particular, I used to feel really unhappy running decks with fewer than 14 creatures. Whereas now I'm totally happy with eight creatures as long as it's the right eight!
But these are some of my current favorite songs
Wow! Quite the list of classics there!
Rime of the Ancient Mariner in particular is one of those tunes which went round and round my tape deck in the early 90s until it wouldn't play properly anymore!
(Spotify is an online music system where you pay a subscription instead of buying tracks. So, for example, I'm now listening to Jaga Jazzist - having not heard him before - and can go through his entire catalogue if I like without having to pay a cent for the privilege.)

How much of a dork am I that the first thing I think of when I see "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is Samuel Coleridge and albatrosses?

Maiden is hit or miss for me. The songs I like I also love (Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave, Revelations, etc), and those I don't, I just can't stand (2 Minutes to Midnight, Back in the Village, The Number of the Beast...).

The clue is in the name!

<Limited Clan>
Oh, my username on MTGO is ArcadicGamer if you want to add it to the OP.

=P.
In other news, I'm actually just chillin at home between when my regular shift ends, and when I can start my OT. I love working less than 5 min away from home. Dinnertime was never so easy. This is relevant because I only have a limited amount of food that I can make within teh timeframe.
See, limited. =)
I'm not really too sure about the entire clan thing, but I really like the sound of this clan. -loves limited-
So, I'd like to join, if I can. o:
I hope posting this isn't a problem. >_<
If so, I'll edit/delete it.

I perfectly happy talking limited. I draft twice a week or more, so I talk about it pretty often as it is.
Thank you for the welcome. :]

You're one step ahead of me then, I didn't even know Clans has to be "for" something!
Personally there's a lot of things I think are much better off in this thread than over there even though they're related to limited. Anything which is basically just smalltalk doesn't really merit a thread on the forum where it will be seen by hundreds of people.
Clan drafts rock! There's scope to do more in that area too, I think... I have some plans, but no time to implement them as yet.
Free cake every Wednesday!
Also, more people should post Spotify playlists since I've run out of exciting new stuff to listen to.

I don't really know what Spotify is other than that it's quite popular around here. But these are some of my current favorite songs:
Maybe I'm a Leo - Deep Purple
Welcome, Ghosts - Explosions in the Sky
It's Natural to Be Afraid - Explosions in the Sky
Subterranean Homesick Alien - Radiohead
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Oslo Skyline - Jaga Jazzist
No Quarter - Led Zeppelin
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd
Echoes - Pink Floyd (this is the best song ever, period)
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Day 4 - Explosions in the Sky
Siva - The Smashing Pumpkins
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Shine on You Crazy Diamond pt 1 & 2 - Pink Floyd
I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead - Mogwai
Thank You Space Expert - Mogwai
Would of course recommend them all. My favorite genres, as you can see, are rock, in particular instrumental rock, jazz, some metal and some classical.
Plain amusement. They're just member titles.

I guess that's what I get for being a teacher. In related news, first day of school was today, and I can already tell this year is going to SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF MEEEEEEEE. A good omen, for sure.
:dance:Fact or Fiction of the [Limited] Clan:dance:
Well I certainly wouldn't have thought of Iron Maiden, thats for sure. Definitely not my taste in music.
And why is it every teacher I know whines about having to actually go to work every year about this time?

Maiden is hit or miss for me. The songs I like I also love (Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Powerslave, Revelations, etc), and those I don't, I just can't stand (2 Minutes to Midnight, Back in the Village, The Number of the Beast...).
