So I have been on this big thing making decks that center around lands in some way shape or form. I built a Seismic Assult Deck, and a Valakut, and I have plenty more in mind. But now I think I want to approach one of Lands most classic little helpers.
I'm not sure where to go with this, but I am guess to go straight LD with it. As for the Egg itself I need some suggestions on what to do about getting it in hand so I can play it.
Ghost Quarter, I don't know... it will hurt them with Dingus and then give me another one to break.
I also thought about stuff like, Wildfire, but that might end a lot of games in a tie...
So this is very much a throw together, but I am looking to improve it drastically. Biggest need of improvement is some way in colors to get Dingus Egg faster... Thanks for any help given.
You could make it a white control deck, with Pacifism, Journey to Nowhere, Oblivion Ring sorts of effects (and other white control), building towards a big Armageddon...that'd be kinda' cool :).
Used to be the old combo with dingus egg was armageddon and reverse damage. I think the combo takes too much mana, but dingus egg is still doiable,
If you're going the armageddon route, zuran orb to negate the life loss. balance as well. To power out armageddon and dingus egg faster, artifact mana. sol ring is cheap and good, although there are many tons of artifacts that provide mana, like moss diamond.
You could always add in Detritivore to have a minimum 4 turn nonbasic land destroyer or just play it as a large guy after killing many lands. And another route for mass destruction (though if hestitant to play Wildfire this would do the same or worse), you could add Boom//Bust.

I realize this is nothing at all like your build...but it took me down memory lane ;).
For your deck, I ran a red LD deck back in the day…link is here. I’ve since broken it down since its just not very nice, and wasn’t fun to play against.
Dingus egg is fun, but you want the deck to run even if you don’t draw into it (or it gets disenchanted). So yeah, LD deck, with Dingus fun as a side-dish rather than the main course.
Here's how I'd do it today, if you'd like to see it
For you, you'll have the same problem most dedicated LD decks do...you have no defense, and no T2 plays...but worse than that, if/when the opponent can land 1-3 threats before you start blowing up lands, or if they can land cheaply costed threats the turn they play land (before you're able to nuke it), you have no answers (see also Megrim decks). You need answers, and other ways to deal damage besides Dingus Egg, since its not really strong enough on its own...if it did 3 dmg, maybe, but it doesn't :)...that and G/R don't really have ways to tutor for it. So then the problem is, how do we add answers without completely dilluting the deck and making the LD few and ineffective. We must be discriminate in our choices.
First, land matters. If you're racing them to LD, CIPT hurts you pretty bad. No more than 4. Howsabout 4 Kazandu Refuge CIPT, 4 Karplusan Forest. Ghost quarter is somwehere between meh and okay for later game, but I'm not feeling Tectonic Edge at all. You want your LD to "deny" them mana, not replace it just for the sake of damaging them once Dingus gets in play...essentially you'd be using one of your cards (the Quarter/Edge), to do 2 damage once you have dingus egg in play, and you'd be losing a mana producer. 2 (conditional) damage at the cost of 1 of your cards, why not just run Shock? I'd nix both and run basics, to increase your chance of actually playing a T3 Thermokarst or Pillage. Of course the Strip Mines are money, 4 is tasty and great. 20 land, plus 4 BoP and 2 Llanowar should be plenty. Add two more Llanowar if you find yourself low due to the Strip Mines/raze. 26 Mana.
Next, good LD. You probably don’t want more than 20-22ish LD cards, IOW approx as many land as your opponent will have. You've got the usual suspects here, and you’ve got Strip Mine, and we’ll also add A land-killing critter, so lets keep it to 16ish, 4 Ice Storm, 4 Stone Rain, 2 Pillage, 2 Mwonvoli, 2 Rolling Terrain or Seismic Spike (not both), 2 Raze.
Lastly, support. 4 Dingus Egg,, which leaves 14 cards. 4 Lightning Bolt, naturally. Maybe 2 more “sweeper” cards, probably Earthquake, or Pyroclasm if budget is a concern. I'd recommend some critters to deal the last of the damage. 4 Flametongue Kavu is one of he best CIP critters, (to swing and kill threats). That makes now 10 cards dedicated to burn/threat removal, a decent number. 4 left….
Once upon a time, Avalanche Riders were staples, but I like the new Acidic slime as very versatile…kills ench/arti/land, can attacke, and the deathtouch affects battle decisions in your favor. 2 good flyers would be nice from red, some kinda’ dragon probably, Dragon Whelp is the first thing that comes to mind, but I’m sure you can do better. Or a couple green beaters (Yavimaya Wurm was good, anything big with trample or flying). I used to run Erhnam Djinn and Bladuvian Hordes in my old LD deck...other options too I guess....your choice
I know your basically going creatureless but Terravore would be so good in this deck.
The intention wasn't to go creatureless. Like I said that was basically just a throw together list, with very little thought put into it.
Their may be creatures in the list, in fact I am pretty sure there will be.
All good ideas. I have had a crazy week and not a lot of time for Magic, but I will get back asap. The one thing I see that I know I like is the inclusion of White... I just don't know if I want to rely on only 4 Armageddon (it has a functional reprint, but at $100 a pop and I don't already own any... no...). Just my first impression... we'll see...
Well, its a bit of an oddball move, but perhaps you could include some mana tapping creatures such as Iron Myr and Copper Myr. from there run Isochron scepter and imprint Boom/Bust. After it is imprinted, you can activate either side for the inprint cost, odd, I know, but it works.

Creatures:
Mana Bird to hit the 3 mana mark so that I can stone rain turn 2. The slime because I like the versatility. Terravore is a huge win con.
LD Spells:
Stone Rain= Staple. Mwonvuli, I'm not sold on it yet, but it could help the extra red for a Roiling Terrain, or the last mana for Slime, but needs testing. Roiling Terrain is another kind of win con. Demolish is versatile, but I'm not setting it in stone yet. Raze... Fast... Cheap... not great with Dingus Egg, but it will be OK.
Lands:
Strip Mine is set in stone, my playgroup is OK with it, and it is crazy good LD. Gorgeline, I think will work well with strip mine and Raze. Basics... well they are basic...
What do we think?
Oh... Shock... that was me somewhat being silly... I only have so many bolts and not enough deck to fit them in, but eventually it will be a set of bolts.
I'm wondering why nobody has pointed this out yet: Dingus Egg costs more than what is considered efficient LD.
-> You start nuking lands before Egg is down. -> Once Egg is down, you should already have control over the game, because you mana- or atleast colourscrewed your op. into oblivion. At this point Egg is just simply a slow way to win. -> If you want to build around Egg, Ponza is one of the least effective ways to do so.
First great deck. As what to do to guarantee you get a quick Dingus Egg in those colors there really isnt't anything but hope.
If you do decide to add creatures I personally would very first add Terravore
I think I am going to bail on Dingus Egg as a Priority, but it will not leave the list. I feel I have enough LD in the deck to be consistent, and I am going to have two terravore, who will act as a more sustainable win condition.
I just realized that there are only 58 Cards in my list at the moment... I need two more, and I'm still not sure what to use... What do we think... Thanks

Current Deck plan with open spots:
4 Birds of Paradise
Non Creature Spells:
4 Dingus Egg
4 Stone Rain
4 Ice Storm
4 Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
2 Thermacast
2 Pillage
4 Roiling Terrain
2 Raze
2 Seismic Spike
8 G/R Dual Lands
4 Strip Mine
2 Ghost Quarter
2 Tectonic Edge
8 Basic
Birds of Paradise to ramp and stone rain turn 2, because that is always fun.
I just added as many 3 mana stone rain sort of spells as I could.
Strip Mine, my play group is completly cool with so, no worries.
Dual lands: Kazandu Refuge, Rootbound crag, something....
Ghost Quarter, I don't know... it will hurt them with Dingus and then give me another one to break.
I also thought about stuff like, Wildfire, but that might end a lot of games in a tie...

In that case some combo of them and, Wildfire Borderpost, Quirion Elves, Skyshroud Elf, Moss Diamond, Fire Diamond and Sol Ring would be the whip.
