Special keyword – Nemesis.
“Because as long as there’s two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead...” – The Sniper, from “Meet the Sniper”.
In addition to the basic townie/scum win conditions present, each player has the "Nemesis" objective.
Each player, in order to win the game, needs to ensure a particular character dies during the game. If at the end of the game, a player’s nemesis is still alive, that player loses the game, even if their affiliated faction wins the game.
If any player during the game mentions, hints at, or even THINKS about trying to tell people details regarding WHO their nemesis is, that player will be modkilled without warning.
You may paraphrase any powers you may or may not receive upon death of your nemesis - but you can NOT mention the flavor of this, especially if it gives away who your nemesis is.
The Victors (5): VezokPiraka, The Red Scout (armed with "BONK! Atomic Punch!") ZeDorkSlipeur, The Red Heavy (armed with "Sascha") Guardman, The Red Doktor (armed with Medigun) Nai, The Red Spy (armed with Pocket Knife) Tordeck, The Red Pyro (armed with "The Homewrecker")
Congealing corpses (7) Mandershex, The Red Soldier (equipped with "The Buff Banner") - Spine broken by majority vote, Day 1 TheIceMan, The Sandvich (equipped with "Delicious Filling") - Broken Glass inserted into body and walked on, Night 1 The Muffin Man Ecophagy. The Townie win condition:
"You win with the Red Team, when all members of the Blue Team are dead."
Normal (non-TF2 mafia-specific) Rules (stolen from DYH, who stole them from Puzzle): 1. Bold your votes and unvotes please, this makes it easier for me. they should look like this: Vote: Wuffles_II 2. Any votes or unvotes not in bold will not be counted. 3. Do not communicate at night or day unless your role PM or MODGOD says otherwise. 4. Do not quote PMs or I will have to modkill you. Any use of PM style information may result in the same. If unsure, ask first. Also do not request someone to quote their PM, try to make use of PM time stamps, or anything of that nature. Also, no invisitext. 5. Unvote before casting a new vote. Failure to unvote may result in the vote not being counted. 6. You may Vote: No lynch, and a majority of these votes will end the day without a death. 7. Please do not edit or delete your posts no matter how stupid a mistake you made. This will get you replaced, guaranteed. 8. Once you’re dead, you’re dead, so stop posting please. Not even a "bah". 9. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 72-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Else, you may be prodded and subsequently replaced. 10. If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made. Night will end when the deadline is reached or all actions have been received. 11. Lynches will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. 12. If you are requesting anything from me in-thread, please bold the request or my name. 13. We all want this game to keep moving so I expect everyone to post at least once every two to three days and if you don't, you will get one prod before I replace you. 14. Roleplay is optional, but very much encouraged. (However, given the special rule relating to this game, giving away your character may or may not be a terrible idea :p). But if you want to anyways, go for it, it will amuse me greatly. 15. Lastly and most importantly. Respect me and the rest of the players, I hope I do not have to modkill anyone again. (If you are modkilled, you lose.)
Deadlines:
Deadlines will be imposed when activity slows, and may be retracted as I see fit. However, expect days to last no more than three weeks, and nights 72 hours, unless a lot of productive discussion is going on.
If a majority lynch is not reached by the deadline, it will result in a No Lynch.
It was a quiet day on the MTGS Team Fortress two servers. Some clans were scrimming on the Gold Rush servers, the newbies were maxing out the 2Fort Instaspawn servers.
Just another day.
Then, for some strange reason, all sixteen of the servers went down. The downtime lasted 3.16 minutes in real time, nothing huge, but the funny thing is, that nobody could explain why. Moderators, server admins - even Hannes could not explain.
This is the story of what happened in the midst of this crisis...
____________________________
Meanwhile, in the TF2 server, during the downtime...
The announcer, in an unusually harsh and decisive voice, sends out a message to all the characters.
"ALL GAME CHARACTERS ARE TO REPORT TO THE INTELLIGENCE ROOM IMMEDIATELY.
5...
4...
3...
2...
1...
BEGIN!
As you all scamper, waddle, sprint, double-jump, strut, and jog over, still carrying a various motley assortment of weapons with various amounts of ammunition remaining, when the last one of you turns up, the doors hiss shut, and the lights go out.
"It has come to our attention that some of you are CHEATING in our games. We know how you're doing it, but we can't tell WHO is doing it. So, we have decided to leave it up to you to decide. If you successfully manage to destroy the harmful elements in this room, then we guarantee you'll still have a place in Team Fortress 3. However, if you can't, then we may just decide on a whole new class of heroes to take your place.
Since we know that the harmful element won't give itself up, we leave it to you to decide by simple majority vote. If not, then,
YOU FAIL!"
You all think about this, and then begin to discuss who the first person to be gibbed will be.
After spawning in, Nai makes a sprint for the intelligence room. Given that the room is normally defended by all sorts of things (including the dreaded level 3 autoturret), he's not incredibly happy about having to report in this quick. But, then again, how often do you actually go into the intelligence room, anyways? Thankfully, he's the first one in. So he gets to look cool and lean against a wall while the rest of the stragglers get in.
Well. I know for one that I'm going to be in the next game. We all know I'm the coolest.
Unvote, Vote: MandersHex. Only Nai (and perhaps MMoD) is roleplaying, and he's not even doing it right. That "sorry mod etc." line sounds so fake. Plus, third vote on Syrenz.
(serious vote is serious)
Serious? No. I will not miss the rvs.
Vote: agh ZeDorkSlipeur is forcing me to rush so whoever made the 3rd nonmod post.
Unvote after checking and seeing that the random number I pulled out of my hat would have me putting a 4th vote on Syrenz. That would have been loads of fun.
Nai rubs at his temples before patting at his clothing.
Honestly, you lot have no sense of propriety. Or the mission whatsoever. I'm sure you had time to read the mission briefings, yes? If not, I'm sure I have a copy of it somewhere. It's distressing to think you haven't researched things.
He turns to one that had referred to a kitty.
So. Manders. What's this about a mason, and what did they have to do with this third vote on Syrenz? We also have two votes on Vezo, though that's slightly less suspicious.
Unvote, Vote: MandersHex. Only Nai (and perhaps MMoD) is roleplaying, and he's not even doing it right. That "sorry mod etc." line sounds so fake.
(serious vote is serious)
You're saying that "sorry mod etc." is fake in the fact that MH really does know about the flavor in this game? Or that MH isn't really sorry and is an evil person? Or something else?
Nai shrugs while checking his fingernails for dirt, grime, and nice-lookingness in general.
Well, see, we have one person with three votes. Happens rather suddenly. I, however, trained to look for things that aren't quite there, happen to notice that someone else has two votes. The first is apparently a necessity. All the power to him. Not long after, though, a second vote piles on. And this one is just joined by something unintelligible. That makes me curious. It makes me want to investigate.

Syrenz -> I don't see why she should be sorry or sad about not mimicking the one and only guy who's roleplaying. Unless she thought Wuffles asked us to roleplay, but why would she think that?
14. Roleplay is optional, but very much encouraged. (However, given the special rule relating to this game, giving away your character may or may not be a terrible idea :p). But if you want to anyways, go for it, it will amuse me greatly.
The third vote is bad because just one more vote is enough to put you under serious pressure for absolutely no reason.
Meh. Not like random stage wagons actually go anywhere.
Syrenz -> I don't see why she should be sorry or sad about not mimicking the one and only guy who's roleplaying. Unless she thought Wuffles asked us to roleplay, but why would she think that?
Because he put in the rules that it would greatly amuse him if we did? Thought that was obvious.
Also, Mason is my cat's name. Hence the jealous comment.
Furthermore, since ZDM has completely killed the random phase Unvote
I'm pretty sure we've had random stage wagons go somewhere. Not that I'd be able to point it out, but I somewhat recall one. I think a player in it had some bad rebecca guay art as as avatar. It was a fairy.
Nai brushes some dust off his shoulder for a moment, then stares at the rest of you.
Am I the only one that seems to notice that everything Tordeck has said in this meeting has been some sort of gibberish? I'd imply that it's a letter replacement cipher, and I'd use my training to decipher it, but that'd be an incredibly out of character thing to say. Because I'm hearing it. Not seeing it.
1. I actually don't think ZDS killed the random stage. I think he just stabbed it and now it is lying there between life and death waiting for someone to finally put it out of its misery.
*BANG!
2. Moving on... In that same fashion I don't see anything telling in MH's vote. I see it as a simple mistake as I don't see her as either scum or town intentially putting on a third vote on someone in the random stage.
3. Tordeck is probably roleplaying. In related news his posts are still more readable than jordman's. Take that for what its worth.
Excuse me? I point out that one of our members is refusing to participate in this discussion in a meaningful way, a discussion which will lead to the removal of one of us in the next game, and your response to this is to vote for my removal? Have you lost your sanity?
I've come to the conclusion that our friend here is using a single-letter replacement form of speech. The issue here lies in the fact that he seems to be changing it each time he speaks. There are only two words in our language that are a single letter long. He's used three. Unless he's referring to one in one of his statements, unlikely, he's changed his cipher at least once.
I can say, however, that there's a high likelyhood that he can't stop speaking this way.
I believe tordeck is using jibberish to speak, not a cipher. To make it easier please feel free to quote the following to speak to us.
tordeck says: Consider my vote on the person quoted above. tordeck says: I have my eye on the person quoted above. tordeck says: I am suspicious of the person quoted above. tordeck says: I want to respond to/comment on these points but am having difficulty. tordeck says: Why are we ignoring this? tordeck says: The current topic is getting us nowhere. tordeck says: Yes. tordeck says: No. tordeck says: I agree somewhat. tordeck says: I agree strongly. tordeck says: I'm not convinced. tordeck says: I strongly disagree. tordeck says: I would like to end the day. tordeck says: I would like to wait for a response. tordeck says: I am convinced that the quoted player is town. tordeck says: I am convinced that the quoted player is scum. tordeck says: I am convinced this is true. tordeck says: I am convinced this is a lie. tordeck says: I will stop at nothing to see this player lynched. tordeck says: My PR prevents me from doing or answering this. tordeck says: This is WIFOM. tordeck says: This is speculation. tordeck says: This is scummy. tordeck says: This is self-contradictory. tordeck says: This is playing both sides of the issue. tordeck says: This looks like coaching. tordeck says: I would like to see more pressure on this player. tordeck says: I would like you to answer this question or point.
Also I don't like ZDS. I find his vote on Nai to be bad as his reasoning makes no sense and seems very forced.
Vote ZDS
Nai gives an approving not to both Guardsman and Mystery Meat.
A misspoken word could very well be the case here. That said, even doing simple replacement on one of those with one of the other sounds yields nothing at all.
After looking through the latest statement, which I'd struggle to pronounce but will write down...
p vem'f, aw k bclz ct ned-jikgwq!
I have noticed something. This is in reply to the question "Can you stop speaking like this". Those last two words, joined by a dash, could correspond letter-by-letter with 'mod-killed'. That said, given that they don't fit in a standard cryptogram, I can't prove this.
With this said, I'm inclined to agree with Guardsman. This seems like it is very much a single-letter replacement scheme. But there is no rhyme or reason I can see, and is very likely that he's picking random tones to match the inflection of what he actually wants to say.

Or he's wearing a mask we can't see.I'll take a look tomorrow; with regards to the sentence you said, first thing I thought of when he had "p vem'f" was "I can't", but I remember seeing him write another 4 letter contraction and it didn't fit seem to fit "don't".
For some unknown reason, I seem to be unable to think twice between thinking and speaking. Or to take back what I say. Must be something to do with this room.
My assumption on his statement was "I can't, if I post I'm mod-killed". Or, "I can't, if I don't I'm mod-killed". Something to that effect.
And I wouldn't bother trying to compare one contraction to another. I believe Guardsman is correct. This isn't a cipher. This is simply random letter substitution.
So you don't think his "I could be helpful but I won't because it would be OOC" line is scummy?
Umm... he never said that. He only said what he is doing is out of character as he is seeing it not hearing it. And needless to say Nai has been helping out by providing possible interpretations of what Tordeck is saying and trying to figure out the cipher if there is one. In fact in the quoted post you acknowledge that Nai is working on the cipher (more than anyone else for that matter), despite you accusing him of not doing something because it is out of character.
Nai shrugs and yawns. Since he's talking to ZDS, who's being a bit jerky about this, he doesn't bother to cover his mouth.
I don't. That was a joke. Notice how it was breaking the fourth wall for me to even comment on it.
However, I don't like your questioning. You're fishing for information. What you aren't asking is "Is this a posting restriction?"
If you had asked me if it was a posting restriction, it would have been fishing. You would have asked me and Tordeck about posting restrictions. That would have come across as scummy, because there's no need to ask about that type of thing this early in the game.
Furthermore, you would have been fishing for information on a posting restriction in the exact same post as you're voting me. And you'd be voting me based on a supposed posting restriction which may or may not (if it existed) have anything at all to do with my role.
In other words, you're going fishing on two different players, and voted for one of them based on a comment that was a joke. It should have been obvious it was a joke. In order to enhance your fishing expedition, you voted me in order to pressure me. And now you're accusing me of dodging a fishing question, as if that's going to do anything.
Vote: ZeDorkSlipeur.
Now, I've answered your question. You tell me: Why are you so interested in why I care about being in or out of character?
I really get a bad vibe from Nai.
I have no idea what it means. He tries to much to help to town and that Attack on ZDS is probably forced. Me doesn't like. unvote

Nai can't help but apply his palm liberally to his forehead before working to adjust his outfit to make it fit better.
It'd be nice if people did background checks. Do check my performance from other operations. I'm usually like this. I hunt for those going contrary to the majority success conditions. I analyze people, their words, their reactions.
As for you, ZDS:
You're fishing. You asked Tordeck direction if he had a posting restriction. It was obvious. He has one. Otherwise, he wouldn't have done six sentences of gibberish. It's suicide to do so in any event that requires you to use speech, and especially eloquent speech at that, to survive.
You were still fishing. You asked me why I didn't want to break character. You were looking for information. If not for a posting restriction, then for something else. Had you wanted to check just for a posting restriction, you would have asked me not to roleplay one particular post. You didn't. You asked me why I didn't want to break character. Which, namely, was because I didn't feel like spending an hour trying to break the cryptogram. Which I eventually did anyways out of curiosity, hence my posts about it.
Furthermore, there was no contradiction. I never said I had a posting restriction. I just never outright denied it. You also obviously have no idea what it means to roleplay. I said wasn't then. That doesn't mean I'm not going to, out of character and out of the post. It also doesn't mean I'm not going to do it regardless. There is a difference between 'in character' and 'out of character'. I don't have to act like myself 'in character'. That's what makes it a character, and not me.
Furthermore, it's not an OMGUS. An OMGUS would have been the post after yours, made because you voted me. What I did was vote you because of your crappy logic and continued lack thereof. And mostly because I realized that you were going on a fishing expedition. I was too focused on Tordeck (hence, y'know, all of my posts about him) to really realize what you were doing.
Let's recap why you're voting me:
Because I said, in character, that I didn't feel like putting my skills to deciphering the cryptogram. And you wanted to know why.
End of list.
Now that that's out of the way...
Vezok, would you care to elaborate a little? How am I going out of my way to vote ZDS? I've given two rather long posts on the matter, explaining my chain of reasoning. I've also done some considerable work here on an apparent cipher (which may or may not be a cipher at all), as well as being one of the prolific players of the first fifty-two posts. Would you like to do some background on some of my games and get back to me on your character profiling?
Nai sighs and shakes his head, rubbing at his temples a second later.
Posting restrictions are often given to townie players to balance out power roles. Or to balance out other characters with power roles. Fishing about information helps to tell the scum which players to target and which to not target. A posting restriction like that would have to balance out something rather major. This isn't a bastard mod game. So it's not just there for nothing, chances are.
So you, by fishing, are helping the scum pick targets. Townies know that, when information is needed from town, it'll be provided by town. While the town benefits from information being submitted, information that doesn't help the town right now to find scum doesn't help the town. It'd do us no good to, say, out the cop right now unless he knows of some scum. It would also not do us any good to out masons right now.
For the same reason as a soft claim right now would not help us. It would just help the scum narrow down lists.
See my game 'Manga Mafia' for further information on why fishing for information isn't good.
Further, as far as I can tell, this is a very flavor-related game. So figuring out posting restrictions and what they may stem from helps to define flavor. And from flavor, role. If someone starts talking in a Brooklyn accent, and you question them into revealing it was a posting restriction, we could have accidentally outed the Scout.
Even further, remember that each of us has someone we have to get killed. If we don't, we lose the game, regardless of if our team wins it. If you accidentally out someone on page one or page two, it could result in a trigger happy vig, or a daykilling scum, or some other thing, in killing them. Especially a misguided townie who doesn't realize getting their target killed early, when they're town, is detrimental to the town while helpful to themselves. Town has to win for an individual townie to win, even if they kill their target.
TLDR on points 1 and 2 questions: Fishing harms the town by A.) helping the scum figure out who to kill and B.) helping both sides figure out their 'kill' targets, which hastens deaths. Which may be townie deaths, which leads to townie loss.
To actually answer point 1: You're basing what YOU think about Tordeck's posts based on what Guardsman says? Why? Why not based on what I say? He said it wasn't, I said it was. What made his word better than mine? And why did you base a VOTE on ME, with no other basis whatsoever, because HE said someone ELSE didn't have a posting restriction?
Point 2: No, it didn't beg the question. It was a bull**** IC reason for me not to do a lot of legwork trying to break a code. Which I eventually tried to do anyways. You were digging for information from me and just had a pseudo-legit reason to do it. For all you know, I'm the Spy, who's a cop, and I was trying not to reveal hints about my role. But you went digging, and could have potentially outed me.
3.) Yes, I brought up the PR. Because I think you were fishing to see if I had a PR. You didn't outright say it. But I felt that's what you were doing. Hence me saying 'stop fishing for information', because you were asking in a way that hinted you wanted to know about a PR.
I don't assume PR = Power Role. I said that they're often given to power roles. And I also said they were given to balance out power roles. I don't believe I've ever seen a non-bastard mod game where a posting restriction was given out for the hell of it.
I also didn't say the PR would be given to scum.
Notice me say 'most'. "Most." Let me repeat this to make sure you read it this time. "Most". Not "all". Not "every". Most. "Most" and "some" can coincide here. In my experience, this is how posting restrictions are made.
And I"m not trying to paint him as scum. I've never said he's scum. I've said he's acting scummy. He's acting suspicious. I have not said he's scum. I've not even hinted that he's scum. I've said he's acting suspicious/scummy, and I voted for him as such.
Please read my posts. I mean, actually read them. Don't skim them. Don't look for key words like 'scum' and 'power role' and then pretend you read what I said. And don't put words in my mouth.
Now it's your turn, Vezok. Why are you defending him? Why are you putting your eggs in his basket? This is not a townie thing to do. Town doesn't defend other people unless they know they are town. Scum, especially bad scum, do it all the time. Town doesn't defend another person because they don't know if they're town. Scum knows who's town. Scum knows who's scum. Scum defends town to make themselves look better. Scum defends scum in order to keep their buddies alive.
So why are you defending LDS? You all of a sudden jumped to defend him, having done little else this game so far. I think this is actually your third or fourth post in the game. You haven't actually contributed anything, you haven't made any argument for yourself. And your only defense for him, against my single vote, is that you 'like him as town'.
So, please, think for yourself, speak for yourself. Why are you defending him?
I am currently in only 3 games not the 9 I usually do so I actually read all your posts.
I consider ZDS town. In all games I saw ZDS people tried to paint him as scum saying he did scummy things. I see ZDS as town this game. He did the right actions. He tried to understand if tordeck is actually having a PR.
I don't like you now Nai.
W e will see what you do after.

You're saying things that aren't even close to being there. You're not even quoting related content.
I said that posting restrictions are often given to townie players to balance out power roles. That's exactly what I said. That doesn't mean that a posting restriction is always given to a power role. That doesn't mean that a posting restriction balances a power role. That means that, if there's a posting restriction, in my experience, more than half the time it's either given to a power role, or it's there to balance out a power role.
This does not mean that I assume, or imply, that all posting restrictions are given to power roles. If I meant that, I would have said 'all'. Not 'most'. Not 'often'. Notice my 'often' up there. 'Often' does not mean 'all'. 'All' means 'all'. Notice my word usage. Mafia is a game of semantics. Mafia is a game of word choice. Notice my word choice.
And sure. Go recheck that game. Did that posting restriction balance something out? Did said scum role get an extra power to go with it? He, or one of his partners? Check on that. And then check to see if I said that scum never get posting restrictions.
Furthermore, notice what else I said. Because you two seem to be teaming up to try to make it seem that I said something I didn't:
Did I say that assuming others are town until proven otherwise is scum? Or a terrible player? Nope. I didn't even use those last words at all. I said that town doesn't defend another player unless they know they're town. Why? Because they don't know they're town. The other player could be scum. Town doesn't want to defend scum. Because that keeps Scum alive, which makes Town lose.
Now. Would you two like to stop being scummy? You're repeatedly trying to twist my words. I especially love the 'crush it' statement at the beginning of ZDS' recent post. Which, you know, would make sense. Because Vezok totally crushed my argument by asking a question that in no way repeats what I said. He's straw-manning me, but ZDS acts as if it was a statement from Plato himself.
I'm half thinking that ZDS and Vezok are scumbuddies protecting each other. And being overzealous at that. Or, at least, Vezok is, and ZDS is trying to save him. Badly.
Nai proceeds to gasp, slap hands to his face a la Home Alone, and screech out in alarm. He didn't role play in his latest post! He's going to get mod killed because this was obviously a posting restriction and not something he did to make the game more fun for himself and others! The world will explode! The game will die! Ah the horror!
I don't assume PR = Power Role. I said that they're often given to power roles. And I also said they were given to balance out power roles.
See, Nai didn't assume anything. He just heavily implied it. Notice the key difference! (hint: there is no difference.) And now Vezok's argument is debunked. Hail to the power of heavy implications!
It's amazing how much the exchange changes when you actually keep the second half of Nai's comments in. Just because there is a period doesn't mean that one sentence is all that is relevent. Although, those periods probably should have been comma's. Vezok's arguement actually was debunked (before he made it even), he just decided to ignore part of what Nai said.

1. Bold your votes and unvotes please, this makes it easier for me. they should look like this: Vote: Wuffles_II

As you all scamper, waddle, sprint, double-jump, strut, and jog over, still carrying a various motley assortment of weapons with various amounts of ammunition remaining, when the last one of you turns up, the doors hiss shut, and the lights go out.

You're saying that "sorry mod etc." is fake in the fact that MH really does know about the flavor in this game? Or that MH isn't really sorry and is an evil person? Or something else?

Well, see, we have one person with three votes. Happens rather suddenly. I, however, trained to look for things that aren't quite there, happen to notice that someone else has two votes. The first is apparently a necessity. All the power to him. Not long after, though, a second vote piles on. And this one is just joined by something unintelligible. That makes me curious. It makes me want to investigate.

A misspoken word could very well be the case here. That said, even doing simple replacement on one of those with one of the other sounds yields nothing at all.
After looking through the latest statement, which I'd struggle to pronounce but will write down...
Or he's wearing a mask we can't see.

My helpdesk should you need me.
Umm... he never said that.

My helpdesk should you need me.
My helpdesk should you need me.
Why do you assume PR = Power role.
In every game I saw a posting restriction it was given to townies.
Only some games had posting restriction given to PRs.
I really don't like how you are trying to paint ZDS as scum with long posts.

My helpdesk should you need me.
I consider ZDS town. In all games I saw ZDS people tried to paint him as scum saying he did scummy things. I see ZDS as town this game. He did the right actions. He tried to understand if tordeck is actually having a PR.
I don't like you now Nai.
W e will see what you do after.

Badly.
