After my friends and I bought Elspeth vs. Tezzeret, I was feeling ambitious and decided that I wanted to try to use the packaging everyone was going to throw away to build a deck box for on of my EDH decks. My girlfriend, being much better at crafts than me, decided she also wanted to try to build a box.
As you can see, we each took a slightly different approach to building our boxes. I decided I wanted my box to snugly fit a 100 card sleeved deck. My girlfriend preferred to have a more square design. There is a side view picture with a sleeved EDH deck for comparison.
There is plastic covering each side's window, with magic cards used to decorate three sides of the box. The fourth side is left with a plastic covering but no magic card attached so that the deck box can be seen into, and the general can be nicely displayed.
I think that it turned out rather well, and I now have two shiny new boxes! ^.^
For anyone that wishes to duplicate the designs, I recommend using lots of tape to cover the boxes after construction. It not only offers a nice waterproof seal, but it also prevents the foil from fraying.

This really is a fantastic idea... I wish I hadn't thrown all of my boxes out, now.
Yours look great! I like the addition of other Magic cards on the sides for MOAR ARTWERK!
Those are simply amazing. Not to be intrusive, but could you provide instructions on how to build custom boxes like that? I too have old duel deck boxes that I would love to dismantle and use as EDH boxes.

I wouldn't mind proving instructions, I just assumed there wouldn't be enough people interested in creating deck boxes to merit any sort of lengthy explanation. I'll be helping a friend make one and if enough people are interested I could probably post step by step photos.
If you have any specific questions on what I did, just ask ^.^

I actually made EDH deck boxes using cards and superglue about a year ago. It's extremely sturdy if you layer 2 cards with the superglue.
I actually considered trying something similar as my next craft project.
I recently made a 3D card abacus for use as a life counter. I am now trying to incorporate what I learned into making an EDH deck box with an abacus face. I've started to diagram out plans for it and hope to try making it when i have more free time.

Oh step by step photos would be excellent! I have a Jace/Chandra duel deck box, a Primordial Jund intro box, and a Zombie Empire planechase box, could you show me which one would be the best one to make an EDH box with? Thanks.

If you look at the ones I currently have posted, you'll notice that for the ones I made, I used two boxes for each deck box. The reasoning behind this decision is that I could use the opening in front of the box to allow for each side of the box to have a frame for a different piece of artwork.
While it is possible to make a deck box using one duel deck package, I personally think two is preferable. Of course, it may be hard to get an additional box; I was just lucky in that my friends also wanted to get duel decks. If you know anyone that's getting a duel deck, it might be work asking if they're going to throw away the packaging.
If you want to try with one box, then I'd recommend either the duel deck box, since the larger package makes it easier to make a box. Also, it's foil, which I think just looks nice.
I haven't started on making another deck box, but when I do it will most likely be with a single duel deck box. When I do, I'll be able to post pictures.
For now though, I will say that you'll want to carefully take the box apart and lay it out flat. After you do that, you'll want to take a ruler and measure based on the thickness of the deck and the size of your sleeves. Additionally, you'll want to measure to allow for three of the four sides on the top to have flaps, and enough space on the bottom measured out to allow for the base. In the case of one duel deck package, you'll probably want to plan for one of the planeswalkers being the front and one being the back. You'll want to factor for additional cardboard left unmeasured to provide backing support for the additional cuts needed to make the two planeswalkers your front and back.

And here we have an example of flaming so rude that it gets an infraction on the first post. Ridiculous.
