Each night you may choose one person who you would like to trade any or all of the following info with (Any or All Stats {i.e. Class, Code Name, etc.}, Flavor, Abilities, and/or Limit Breaker). If they accept you will receive that person’s agreed upon data and vise-versa.
Complete Data Dossiers will be revealed upon death in most cases.
Night will be separated into two 48 hour phases. You must send who you want to trade data with in the first phase and then respond if anybody wants your data in the second phase. Any night abilities you want to use can be sent in either night phase. The amount of time spent in each phase will be no more than 48 hours and will be enforced using time stamps.
You may quote PM’s.
There will be a Night 0. Night 0 will be divided into two 48 hour phases. During Night 0 only dossier transfers may be done. No other abilities may be used. Though those that may talk at night can talk.
Abilities have info presented as: How is it activated (Passive, Trigger, Active)/When can it be activated(Day, Night, Day & Night, or Any)/ Is it permanent or have limited uses(Permanent, Semi-Permanent, or Number of Shots)/Do you have to fulfill a condition use it (Conditional or No Condition).
Limit Breakers have info presented as: How is it activated (Passive, Trigger, Active)/When can it be activated(Day, Night, Day & Night, or Any)/ Is it permanent or have limited uses(Permanent, Semi-Permanent, or Number of Shots)/Do you have to fulfill a condition use it (Conditional or No Condition)/Number of charges needed to activate/Number of starting charges.

Gabriel High School was built on the 1500 acre site once known as Pabst Farm in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, opening its doors for its first school year in the fall of 1999. Much speculation was given about why a private school would need 1500 acres for their academy, or how they were able to afford it. Rumors abounded that it was a school for the super wealthy to send their children, or it was built for children with mental disabilities and psychological problems, and one enterprising group of UFO buffs even claimed that it was going to be the next Area 51. But the truth was much stranger than the sort of fiction anybody could imagine.
Gabriel High School was set-up by the United States government for the training and continued education of all teenage freaks in the Midwest. Freaks, humans with strange supernatural powers that most thought were restricted to the pages of comic books and fantasy novels. Behind the fifteen foot tall, three foot thick, Ivy League brick wall roams several thousand of these freaks being educated so they can integrate into society.
But another reason for its existence is to also have a free supply of “weapons” that the government can use for missions that are too difficult for any normal human. So besides the normal classes of Math, English, and Biology, there are also classes such as Freaks 101 and Military Training. Not to mention gym classes that are more akin to obstacle courses and freak power testing facilities then playing dodge ball.
On top of those classes are the special groups that almost all freaks are associated to, fraternities that are sent out onto missions together. The closest thing to a family and the people that you hope weep for you if you die.
But after ten years, Gabriel High School is a different beast then when it first opened. The rumors have died down and the people of Oconomowoc just regard it with the same nod and acceptance that they do the town library. And the school is now run by the student council instead of the government, due to a series of oversights and lack of resources to maintain an iron grip. In fact the student council acts more like the three branches of government than a real student council. Not even the principal and the rest of the faculty are able to resist the power that they wield.
As a result the school has become less militaristic and more like its own sovereign nation, with the formerly militaristic groups splintering off to provide different functions, such as maintenance or administrative duties. But the six most powerful groups and the ones that control the student council are the remaining six groups that maintain their original militaristic origins, as they continue to jostle and struggle for control of the title of student council president.
The current student council president has held his post for almost four years now, his entire high school career, and is widely credited with solidifying the student council’s power. His name is Dire Bere. A young man with no group affiliations, a disturbing smile, and until today an unknown power that allowed Gabriel High School to lie in the palm of his hand…
Dire entered the council room after today’s classes had ended. He was surprised to see that the thirteen other council members were already there. He wasn’t sure if he was more surprised that they got here before him or the fact that they actually all came.
He dropped his backpack next to the president’s seat, a comfortable leather executive’s chair, and threw down a stack of file folders on the table. “Alright let’s get started.” He said. “We have a lot to do today, and well I want to get back to my room in time for March Madness.” The other council members grumbled but eventually took their seats.
“First on the agenda, a little something light. Apparently Elliot Rose and Valarie Kent, two sophomores from Golden Guild, were caught skipping class and having sex in a stall of the third floor girl’s bathroom of the Tower wing. Any comments or suggestions on what action should be taken?” Dire said.
“Yeah, next time make sure they get it on tape.” One of the council members said. He wasn’t sure who. It didn’t really matter. He already knew how this one was going to turn out.
“Well if nobody has anything else to say, why don’t we vote on giving them the usual punishment of three days of detention for skipping class.” Dire said. The vote was ten votes yes and three votes no, like it always was. Not that he mind this outcome. If they gave students harsher punishments for skipping class to have a little fun then him and most of the rest of the council wouldn’t be able to skip anymore either. And he happened to like his midday rendezvous. “Alright three days of detention it is.” He made a quick note in the file.
“Now onto something a little more serious. Apparently we have had another vampire attack. This time it was a freshman girl named…” The lights flickered for a second and then went black. He could hear the shuffling of chairs, then a sharp pain his chest, and then nothing. It was a complete nothing. He no longer felt the pain, and in fact he no longer felt anything else either.
A moment latter the lights flickered back on and he found himself staring at his lifeless body as it lay bleeding in his comfy chair. “What happened?” Someone shouted. It was a stupid question really.
“What do you think happened? I was murdered.” Dire said. He sighed. He hated when this happened. It’s been almost four years since the last time, and he sort of hoped it would have been the last.
“But why is everybody distorted looking?” One of them asked. He, she, possibly even an it at this point, looked only like a blurry, colorful blob, barely able to retain a human shape. But that was how they all looked, and how each would look to each other as long as they were alive, though they could see themselves just fine.
“I really hate explaining what’s going on here. Needless to say I was murdered, probably by some council members hoping to grab power for themselves. But what they didn’t know is that killing me activates one of my most powerful abilities. You can read about it in here.” Dire picked up a file from the table that wasn’t there before and threw it across the table, pieces of paper flying out of it. Each council member picked up a piece of paper and read it:
Quote from SAMPLE PM »
Student Name: Dire Bere
Code Name: Guardman
Class: S
Group Affiliation: None
Clubs: Literature Club
DOB: 05/09/1992
Sex: Male
Student Number: X-004899201
He became the youngest student council president ever when he elected during the first semester of his freshman year. It was during this time that he acquired the Code Name “Guardman”. His previous Code Name was “Ron Mexico”. Anybody who knew what either of these codenames mean has mysteriously died. As such it is a Class 5 offense to ask or investigate what his Code Name means.
Not much else is known. He had no known group affiliations. All previous record about him has been lost. Record keeping is now done on a several note basis going forward.
Data Dossier – Passive/Any/Permanent/No Condition: What each person has in front of them is the manifestation of his/her Data Dossier. This is Dire’s Data Dossier. Each one contains the filed data about that person as collected by Dire. One should keep the info in there safe. For one never knows what bad things can come from that info getting out.
Limit Breaker (Mafia) – Trigger/Any/Permanent/Conditional/0/0: Dire’s Limit Breaker, Mafia, is activated whenever Dire dies. An area around his body is cut off from reality and transported to another dimension. In this other dimension are brought all the people in that area. Once in this different dimension does the real game of mafia begin. Each person’s Data Dossier is passed out to their respective owner. The guilty party or parties is then marked as the Scum. Nobody else, not even Dire who presides as the moderator of the game, knows who the Scum are. The only way to find a Scum is to kill them by a majority vote. Once dead, a person’s Data Dossier will be revealed. If the innocent are able to kill all the Scum before the Scum make up a majority of the living, all the innocent are revived (including Dire) if dead and set free from the game. If the Scum get a majority they are revived if dead and set free. You are warned.
Win Condition: Kill the traitors!
As they finished, each member grabbed their dossier and hid it away for safe keeping. “Judging by each of your actions, I am guessing you each understand what is going on then. Well then I now declare Day 1 to begin. With thirteen alive it takes seven to lynch.” Dire watched the thirteen blobs as they began debating among themselves. He hoped that they would at least be entertaining. The scum winning wasn’t really on his mind. It rarely was in these situations. He figured what would happen would happen, add the fact that he hasn’t lost yet, and he felt it was best to sit back and enjoy the show. In fact, right then, he was much more concerned about figuring out a way he could smoke a cigarette.
I look around at all the blobs around me. Great. I'm the only normal person, in a room full of freaks.
Chuckling, I pull out a pack of Santa Fe's. Only three left. I pull one out and feel for a lighter. ☺☺☺☺ing Bio teacher jacked it.

I think the vote is way obvious, we vote Glenn Beck in order to see if he turn up scum(likely). If that's the case we can easily start moving on to Palin and Hannity, they have been barning each other so hard it's not even funny.
On the other hand, on the off chance he flips town we've got our next three lynches: Obama, Pelosi, Olbermann. Seriously Beck's the lynch then GAME OVER.
Not much to discuss. Too early in the game to decide whether I think Zionite should be allowed to survive to the end. It is unfortunate that the win condition depends on someone else's play, I guess.
vote Calvin for refusing to trade completely innocuous information. Are you "Group Affiliation: EVILSCUMMAFIA" Calvin? Are ya?
To put it plainly, you generally play it pretty close to the vest with ANY of your claim information, so it's a big disconcerting to see you give someone else a hard time about that.
2 people requested to share information with me last night. I accepted both.
Is that for real? If so you shouldn't have told me. I have a tendency to coast and not give a ☺☺☺☺ when I'm not in danger of getting lynched regardless of alignment. I'll just pretend it's fake.

What makes you think that one player needing you alive means the rest of us will ignore you? In what was does his claim, if real, even pseudo-clear you?

That wasn't what he said. He said that he usually doesn't post, but discovering this might make him need to change. He didn't mention anything about being even somewhat clear.

He said it the opposite way. He didn't want to know this information, because he doesn't post as much when he thinks he's in the clear. That implies he thinks this information would put him in the clear.
vote Calvin for refusing to trade completely innocuous information. Are you "Group Affiliation: EVILSCUMMAFIA" Calvin? Are ya?
a) I don't think any information in this game is entirely innocous. It's very plausible that people have abilities that work off knowing other players info.
There's no advantage to trading with you while there is a potential downside. I'm pretty surprised anyone actually traded info last night I understand that there is temptation to play with the shiny game mechanic but on N0 there is zero info to go on and you're really just rolling the dice that you're move won't be harmful.
B) You also wanted to share 'class'. The way I understand it, class is a representation of your power level. Why would I share that with a complete unknown? Better yet, why would you fish for that info?
I don't really see a reason to change any game decisions based on AI's weird win condition. Could be a scum gambit, could be true and it's impossible for us to know which it is right now. Probably won't know if it's true until AI dies and his info is revealed (which the rules say may not even happen then).
I haven't made up my mind on information transfers. I'm not sure that it would necessarily help. Knowing information could be beneficial to the scum in some way so I'm wary about transfers.
Hopefully class isn't a revelation of your power level, since I shared that one with both people(honestly, I am STILL having trouble making much sense of the my role PM, despite having read it multiple times).
I do agree with Calvin on his first point, it wouldn't surprise me terribly if the game has some neutral role that needs to collect other people's information to win(or can trade others info or something similar). I really doubt that we can all just share all of the information that we want and not fear the consequences.
@Lost Profit: Irregardless isn't a word. The rest of your post is worthless because of this. =P
@Calvin: The advantage of sharing information is the same advantage a mason pair has over the rest of the town. It's not clear what this advantage is called, but it's there.
a) I don't think any information in this game is entirely innocous. It's very plausible that people have abilities that work off knowing other players info.
Probably yeah. More of those people will be townies than scum, though, by weight of numbers.
There's no advantage to trading with you while there is a potential downside.
There's also a potential upside. I could be a townie who needs that information to do good stuff. A random player is around 3 times as likely to be town as scum (slightly less, to account for neutrals, but close enough). That's why it is bad to blind-vig on night 0s but good to blind-motivate and to blind-protect.
I'm pretty surprised anyone actually traded info last night
I think it would be pretty silly not to make the attempt. It's a good reactions test, and the likelihood of accidentally giving away to a scum the exact innocuous information they need is vanishingly small.
I understand that there is temptation to play with the shiny game mechanic but on N0 there is zero info to go on and you're really just rolling the dice that you're move won't be harmful.
Everything in mafia is chancy. The odds on this are better than most.
B) You also wanted to share 'class'. The way I understand it, class is a representation of your power level.
I hadn't picked that up, so if it's correct, thanks for sharing (I dunno if in that case "power level" has any bearing on game ability power, but not exactly a topic to dwell on in public). Would you have accepted trade if I'd only asked for your Group Affiliation?
To whoever asked why Calvin: because there's no point doing a reactions test on a new player who I've never played before, and there was no point in trying it on Cyan (whose reaction would be the same either way), which left limited choices. Had to be him, Manders, AI or Zionite and Calvin's first on the player list.
To Cyan: I don't always play that close with information, just IMPORTANT information. This is a game where the central mechanic is based on trading information and PMs may be quoted. It makes sense to explore that, and I always like to have something to spark conversation on day 1.
not much 2 say yet. hard for me 2 post much except on weekends.
asianinvasion, is that your only win con? what happens if zionite dies, do you just leave the game? seems strange.
i did a trade too. i think its good. even if its a scum, they are giving u true information back! big risk for them. i am suspicious of anti-trading people.
You clearly know what I meant, and could answer the question irregardless of whether it is a word or not.
Fineeee.
You are correct, AI's claimed alt win-con doesn't confirm me in any way. But for him it matters. And if my experience with people with alt win-cons means anything, we'll be screwed over as much as AI can muster if we don't help him.
B) You also wanted to share 'class'. The way I understand it, class is a representation of your power level. Why would I share that with a complete unknown? Better yet, why would you fish for that info?
Shooting daggers at AsianInvasion, I put up my pack.

I had 3 people request information from me. I'm popular.
And, I will admit I denied one of them because said person asked to trade all information and I am not ok with that right off the bat.
AIs revelation is...perplexing. I'm not sure why he came out with that right away, but it's probably best to just play the game as normal. As long as Zi reads town, AIs got little to nothing to worry about. But he should definitely keep it to himself whether he remains in game or is rfg.
Not that I feel like you don't know already, but if you leave the game when Zionite dies you might want to keep that to yourself.
Try to be more obvious with the fishing gigas/petals?
I'm kind of in agreement with the fishing, he presented a very sketchy win-con gave no other information and told us to discuss, i feel like he invited fishing for info, maybe a scum attempt to falsely catch newbies or a slayers gambit, but i sincerly doubt the veracity of AI's claim.

I disagree. It's probably best he brought it up now. If it had waited until I was under the hammer then it'd just bring more scrutiny. This allows us out of the RVS and into some discussion as well as prevents his alt win-con from being screwed later because he was silent.
AI claimed neutral. I don't reaaally buy it but while we all play along with the claim I'm not seeing where this fishing talk is coming from. The question of whether he disappears is valid, unless you think he would be stuck in the game without a win con. Why would we want that hidden, exactly? Would the STOP FISHING party care to explain?

I suppose it might have invited a NK, but he could have claimed you were confirmed town at some point down the road. I don't think this was a bad way of going about it, but there were certainly alternatives.

Where did AI claim neutral exactly? I reread and I totally didn't see that. I expect an answer to this in your next post.

Try to be more obvious with the fishing gigas/petals?
I think that's rather important. If Zionite later comes under heavy suspicion, I would be much more leery about lynching him if I knew doing so would cause AI to be upset with the town for making him lose and willing to work with the scum, rather than just make him disappear. He could essentially say "Ha-Ha, I'm helping the scum now, and if you want to stop me, you'll have to waste a lynch on it."
I don't see the immediate 'AI is neutral' conclusion. I've seen roles before where one townie required another to survive in order to win. Multiple times, in fact. And frankly, so as RafK.
He should know better than to do what he's doing here. Vote RafK

With thirteen alive it is seven to lynch.
Great. I'm the only normal person, in a room full of freaks.
Chuckling, I pull out a pack of Santa Fe's. Only three left. I pull one out and feel for a lighter. ☺☺☺☺ing Bio teacher jacked it.

That's right, I have 13 votes. You're jealous.
vote Calvin for refusing to trade completely innocuous information. Are you "Group Affiliation: EVILSCUMMAFIA" Calvin? Are ya?
On the other hand, on the off chance he flips town we've got our next three lynches: Obama, Pelosi, Olbermann. Seriously Beck's the lynch then GAME OVER.

Discuss.
Is this your role pm or from a dossier transfer?
Is a dual win with town possible with this win-con?

To put it plainly, you generally play it pretty close to the vest with ANY of your claim information, so it's a big disconcerting to see you give someone else a hard time about that.
2 people requested to share information with me last night. I accepted both.
Holy carp batman!
Is that for real? If so you shouldn't have told me. I have a tendency to coast and not give a ☺☺☺☺ when I'm not in danger of getting lynched regardless of alignment. I'll just pretend it's fake.

That wasn't what he said. He said that he usually doesn't post, but discovering this might make him need to change. He didn't mention anything about being even somewhat clear.
tbh, i think this game needs some serious dialogue opened up on the transfers, I mean do we trust them? is denying them scummy? thoughts?
How do you mean? What about them don't you trust?
Depends on the reason, but not as a general rule, no.
As for trades in general, I would probably accept most for All Stats or Flavor, but not anything else.

a) I don't think any information in this game is entirely innocous.
Basic #10-Town-Win
Sword of Truth-Town-Loss
LOTR II - Town-Loss
Indiana Jones - Town-Win
Manipulator - Town-Win
The Asphodel Meadows - Town-Win
Highlander - Neutral Survivor - Win
I don't really see a reason to change any game decisions based on AI's weird win condition. Could be a scum gambit, could be true and it's impossible for us to know which it is right now. Probably won't know if it's true until AI dies and his info is revealed (which the rules say may not even happen then).
I haven't made up my mind on information transfers. I'm not sure that it would necessarily help. Knowing information could be beneficial to the scum in some way so I'm wary about transfers.

I do agree with Calvin on his first point, it wouldn't surprise me terribly if the game has some neutral role that needs to collect other people's information to win(or can trade others info or something similar). I really doubt that we can all just share all of the information that we want and not fear the consequences.
@Calvin: The advantage of sharing information is the same advantage a mason pair has over the rest of the town. It's not clear what this advantage is called, but it's there.
Probably yeah. More of those people will be townies than scum, though, by weight of numbers.
There's also a potential upside. I could be a townie who needs that information to do good stuff. A random player is around 3 times as likely to be town as scum (slightly less, to account for neutrals, but close enough). That's why it is bad to blind-vig on night 0s but good to blind-motivate and to blind-protect.
I think it would be pretty silly not to make the attempt. It's a good reactions test, and the likelihood of accidentally giving away to a scum the exact innocuous information they need is vanishingly small.
Everything in mafia is chancy. The odds on this are better than most.
It makes sense to explore that, and I always like to have something to spark conversation on day 1.

good 2 be here
not much 2 say yet. hard for me 2 post much except on weekends.
asianinvasion, is that your only win con? what happens if zionite dies, do you just leave the game? seems strange.
i did a trade too. i think its good. even if its a scum, they are giving u true information back! big risk for them. i am suspicious of anti-trading people.
Fineeee.
You are correct, AI's claimed alt win-con doesn't confirm me in any way. But for him it matters. And if my experience with people with alt win-cons means anything, we'll be screwed over as much as AI can muster if we don't help him.
Yeah, this too. That's why I suggested ya might have something to hide, Calvin
Shooting daggers at AsianInvasion, I put up my pack.

Absolutely. People may quote me saying whatever they want.
I thought it was weird that guardman would pm me this.
Uhh... hard or impossible? It'll be hard to play if there are only 2-3 days per week you can be active.
I would also like this answered. Do you stick around, and just become a person who has no incentive to stay in the game, or do you leave?
In an unrelated note, in the future, could you please write out words fully? Nothing big, just a touch annoying for me.
Try to be more obvious with the fishing gigas/petals?

"I don't think AsianInvasion was being serious. It makes little sense for him to actually come forth with that information, when Zionite is not even under any suspicion in the first place."
RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
I had 3 people request information from me. I'm popular.
And, I will admit I denied one of them because said person asked to trade all information and I am not ok with that right off the bat.
AIs revelation is...perplexing. I'm not sure why he came out with that right away, but it's probably best to just play the game as normal. As long as Zi reads town, AIs got little to nothing to worry about. But he should definitely keep it to himself whether he remains in game or is rfg.

Hmm, I wonder some about this post.

Where did AI claim neutral exactly? I reread and I totally didn't see that. I expect an answer to this in your next post.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
I think that's rather important. If Zionite later comes under heavy suspicion, I would be much more leery about lynching him if I knew doing so would cause AI to be upset with the town for making him lose and willing to work with the scum, rather than just make him disappear. He could essentially say "Ha-Ha, I'm helping the scum now, and if you want to stop me, you'll have to waste a lynch on it."
This is something worth considering if Zionite is acting scummy, and is not really necessary until then.
