Higure might be the coolest general to ever have the dishonor of having his only deck in the decklist database being one of magnus magicus's crappy "theme decks". eww.
So here's my most recent creation, in an attempt to get higure the respect he deserves a member of one of mtg's coolest creature types.
The basic premise is to focus on control with the changeling duo for removal and shenanigans, with draw + bounce from the ninjas, and plenty of counter/removal to deal with combo attempts and other crap. Then equip some of the nasty equipment and go unblockable to kill.
I can't take credit for this combo, but I remember someone once posting a Higure deck that ran Wanderwine Prophets. It then used Amoeboid Changeling and Higure to force the Prophets through, and could thusly keep attacking until it ran out of changelings to pull from the library. With Reito Lantern, this could go on indefinitely.

well I'm only running two changelings, so i would only be able to do it twice, and then I've lost both of my awesome changelings. my recursion stuff could make it go infinite, but I'm not a huge fan of infinite combos either, so i'll probably give it a pass.

lol, well you've got a reputation for building decks around horrible, janky generals that no one else has used yet (for the :trophy:) which most of the time are unplayable garbage like gosta dirk, jedit ojanen, kasimir the lone wolf, tobias andrion...and that's just UW.
But I think higure is not only playable, but actually very good, probably in the top 10% of generals at least, probably better. He's in blue, he's got a build-in wincondition by being unblockable, he tutors for a small but diverse group of creatures that perform some extremely useful functions for the deck, and he even provides some nice tribal support for them once they hit the table. So I think he's very, very solid, yet he's been almost totally ignored. I mean, we've got more decklists in the database for circu, dimir lobotomist for christ's sake.
So I'm not so much annoyed at you for doing your thing, as I am at everyone else for ignoring this impressive general (I do think your decklist is pretty subpar, but i realize that it's a theme deck and that you make a lot of decks and can't really spend the time to optimize them all).
Plus he's a freaking ninja. Come on now, what's a guy gotta do to get some attention?

I totally agree that Higure deserves a more optimal decklist. Half the reason I made all those decks is that my previous assignment at work left me with a great deal of time to kill and I thought it would just be cool to give every General a home, even the unplayable ones. I'm glad you made him cool again
I do think the otherSwords are very useful to play with an unblockable General. And there might be more. Also, I think some repeatable bounce could be good for the deck. If Higure gets killed, just bounce him and Ninjutsu him back in play next combat phase for more General damage!

SoFI is already up there under draw (obviously it sort of overlaps with equipment, but i put it under draw since i wouldn't be using it just for the +2/+2). The downside to SoFI and SoBM is that they prevent higure from targeting himself. For SoFI, I'm willing to make an exception since it's so powerful. SoBM is alright, but the mill can really only be a good thing for my opponent, and the token just isn't worth it imo. Plus pro-green is probably less useful that pro-red, in terms of blocking removal.
I did try to include some good stuff for unblockables (ophidian eye, curiosity, mask of memory etc) but if you've got any other suggestions let me know.
There's not a TON of repeatable bounce in the deck, but I've got capsize, temporal adept, and one-time-use cards evacuation and wipe away. Generally it's for enemy removal, but could be used to protect higure too. I'm not sure ninjutsu will be very consistant without higure's ability, but i guess in a big game someone's likely to be open. the other downside is that i don't have time to re-equip him when i use ninjutsu, but at least i get an extra three damage in with the pseudo-haste.
I'm really pissed about how lousy walk of secret ways is. if only it didn't have that idiotic "only on your turn" clause it would be awesome protection for all my ninjas. but no. instead you're supposed to use it to....keep paying for ninjutsu i guess? meaning you're recasting your creatures like every turn just to keep them evasive? what a piece of crap. there was no reason they couldn't leave that stupid clause off.
hmm, yeah, shard and portal are both plenty good. I'll probably wait until after I've done some playtesting to decide if I need that sort of thing in here, though.
if I was going to put some unblockables in, I'd probably angle for the cheap ones that make it easy to ninjutsu my ninjas after tutoring them. first stop would probably be looter il-kor. although there's a bunch of decent 2 mana unblockables. Again, i'll probably give the deck a few run throughs first. I'll probably avoid the big unblockables like deep-sea kraken, though. If I'm going to win in combat it's probably going to be with higure via general damage, so there's not much point in attracting attention with a big fatty.
For a second I thought you were on to something with ferropede...but then I remembered that you could just play phantom warrior and remove 2 counters from the planeswalker instead of just 1

The Shard (and to lesser extent Portal) are REALLY good. I forgot you could use shadow as some sort of unblockable! Good idea! Thalakos Deceiver might be cool and Thalakos Seer interacts VERY good with Ninjutsu. Horsemanship is also an option, but not much good creatures.
Don't forget that you do need some beef. If your opponent is bashing you with big creatures, you need something to point him in the other direction. Palinchron might be nice?
And about Ferropede: Also works against charge counters and any other counters of course, while still removing 1 counter from a Planeswalker

my main deterrents from attack are fog bank, guard gomazoa, and maze of ith. i don't really have anything fat on my own, but callous oppressor gains control of some, and vesuvan shapeshifter becomes one. also serendib sorcerer makes their fat not fat. and there's other removal down there too, of course - the changeling combo means i can kill 2 at a time pretty easily. not to mention, with all the equipment i can turn previously weakish creatures into powerhouses. it's not a super defensive deck, but I think i'll have enough deterrents to keep people at bay until my general gets lethal. And i don't want to tap out too much. (of course, palinchron doesn't have this problem, but it's not super fat either. it's alright, though, i may stick it in if i need more defensive blockers).
ferropede is fairly versatile, but it's not a great ninjutsu target since it costs 3 (so it doesn't really save me any mana or come out faster). if i notice a lot of games where permanents with counters are becoming a problem, i'll consider it, but it doesn't seem any better in my deck than in most anyone else's.
You're welcome! I'm looking forward to any updates after some playtesting! I have two monoblue EDH Commander decks (Azami, Lady of Scrolls and Mistform Ultimus), but I'm thinking about taking Azami apart and make it a Higure deck...:)

you should definitely turn azami into higure. he's waaay more original.
Higure is actually my only mono-blue EDH deck, although I built him once before almost a year ago now. The main thing i remember learning from that experience was that callous oppressor is basically the best blue creature in multiplayer, ever (especially since the poor bastard next to me was playing tribal azami and i had out voidmage prodigy...). Gilded drake was also really amazing with mistblade shinobi, i need to make some room for that, too.

yes, that's correct, that's why I never suggested you would ever use Higure's ninjutsu ability.

And maybe just play a few unblockable creatures? That way you can always use your Ninja's (which is just plain cool) and the abilities of the Swords and other stuff that triggers when you deal combat damage to an opponent. I can think of Aether Figment, Deep-Sea Kraken, Deepchannel Mentor, Distortion Strike, Escape Artist, Ethereal Usher (if you have relevant 6 mana cards), Ferropede (cool tech vs Planeswalkers :)), Hunted Phantasm, Neurok Invisimancer, Phantom Warrior, Scrapdiver Serpent, Stormtide Leviathan, Tidal Kraken, Trailblazer Boots, Veiling Oddity and Whispersilk Cloak.
