Default [GP] 18 supercool cards

These are from the same anonymous source as the three cards in the Conjurer's Ban thread. Thanks source!

Gristleback -
Creature - Beast (U)
Bloodthirst 1
Sacrifice Gristleback: You gain life equal to Gristleback's power.
2/2
Illus. Lars Grant-West

Hey that's fairly nicely costed! It's sometimes a 2/2, and sometimes a 3/3, with a useful sacrifice ability, for three bucks. I'll take it! It kind of feels Golgari, other than the bloodthirst.

Absolver Thrull -
Creature - Thrull Cleric (C)
Haunt
When Absolver Thrull comes into play or the creature it haunts is put into a graveyard, destroy target enchantment.
2/3
Illus. Rob Alexander

Fairly bland filler for haunt decks. Monowhite thrull - a first I believe.

Benediction of Moons -
Sorcery
You gain 1 life for each player.
Haunt
When the creature Benediction of Moons haunts is put into a graveyard, you gain 1 life for each player.
Illus. Matt Cavotta

Yuck. At 3 life for each player, this could see limited play, and occasional multiplayer constructed play. 1?

Tin Street Hooligan -
Creature - Goblin Rogue (C)
When Tin Street Hooligan comes into play, if was spent to play Tin Street Hooligan, destroy target artifact.
2/1

Hey, not bad. A Shatter and a Jungle Lion for .

AEtherplasm -
Creature - Illusion (U)
Whenever AEtherplasm blocks a creature, you may return AEtherplasm to its owner's hand. If you do, you may put a creature card from your hand into play blocking that creature.
1/1

Not my style of card, but I can appreciate the design here. Fairly interesting. Seems kind of Simic, from what I've seen of them. But I can see a scenario where you can "sneak" something really big/expensive into play with this guy. Makes opponent think twice about attacking into it.

Battering Wurm -
Creature - Wurm (U)
Bloodthirst 1
Creatures with power less than Battering Wurm's power can't block it.
4/3
Illus. Darrel Riche

No, no. NO! Just no. They're designing too many cards (75% of each set) completely around limited. If this was rare, it'd be 6/6 and trample. But to protect limited, it has to be a 4/3. Ewwwww.

Burning-Tree Bloodscale -
Creature - Viashino Berserker (C)
Bloodthirst 1
: Target creature can't block Burning-Tree Bloodscale this turn.
: Target creature blocks Burning-Tree Bloodscale this turn if able.
2/2
Illus. Kev Walker

More limited goodness. Sometimes you force him through to deal damage, so you can bloodthirst your next guy... and sometimes he's a 3/3 with lure, to clear out blockers.

Crash Landing -
Instant
Target creature with flying loses flying until end of turn. Crash Landing deals damage to that creature equal to the number of Forests you control.
Illus. Darrel Riche

Wing Snare variant?

Droning Bureaucrats -
Creature - Human Advisor
X,Tap: Each creature with converted mana cost X can't attack or block this
turn.
1/4
Illus. Kev Walker

I'd probably rather have Master Decoy. Unless I'm facing 8 saproling tokens...

Exhumer Thrull costs and is 3/3.

Very late game play.

Gatherer of Graces
Creature - Human Druid (U)
Gatherer of Graces gets +1/+1 for each Aura attached to it.
Sacrifice an Aura: Regenerate Gatherer of Graces.
1/2
Illus. Heather Hudson

Great with Rancor... but then again, so is Chimney Imp. Interesting that she gets the +1/+1 bonus for auras oh herself, but she can sacrifice ANY aura to regenerate. It's nice that the regeneration ability is mana-free. Overall quite efficient.

Ghor-Clan Bloodscale -
Creature - Viashino Warrior (U)
First strike
: Ghor-Clan Bloodscale gets +2/+2 until end of turn. Play this ability only once each turn.
2/1
Illus. Paolo Parente

Rootwalla in two colours, for more, with less toughness? Not worth the first strike. Filler creature. Should be 3/2, and common.

Goblin Flectomancer -
Creature - Goblin Wizard (U)
Sacrifice Goblin Flectomancer: You may change the targets of target instant or sorcery spell.
2/2
Illus. Matt Cavotta

Solid. The mana cost is a big restrictive, but you get a nice creature. I'd probably play Izzet Guildmage over it in most cases (cheaper and generally more useful).

Gruul Nodorog -
Creature - Beast (C)
: Gruul Nodorog can't be blocked this turn except by two or more creatures.
4/4
Pete Venters

Limited beater.

Harrier Griffin -
Creature - Griffin (U)
Flying
At the beginning of your upkeep, tap target creature.
3/3
Illus. Jim Nelson

I was predicting 2/2 for . This seems a little expensive, but once again, limited considerations > everything else. Most expensive grffin ever (and not even that impressive). To top it off, sometimes the ability causes him to tap himself.

Living Inferno -
Creature - Elemental (R)
: Living Inferno deals damage equal to its power divided as you choose among any number of target creatures. Each of those creatures deals damage equal to its power to Living Inferno.
8/5
John Avon

Ooooh, 8/5, interesting. Too expensive for constructed, but looks good for a limited finisher. Tap to kill a couple bears each turn until there's nothing left. 8 power is nasty. John Avon art, mmm.

Ogre Savant -
Creature - Ogre Wizard (C)
When Ogre Savant comes into play, if U was spent to play Ogre Savant, return target creature to its owner's hand.
3/2
Paolo Parents

Blah! It's like they don't want a single non-rare to see contructed play except the power uncommons! This is total crap. Limited Man-o'-War variant, except it costs more for +1/+0. Parente does nice ogres, though.

Petrahydrox -
Creature - Weird (C)
When Petrahydrox becomes the target of a spell or ability, return Petrahydrox to its owner's hand.
3/3
Illus. Anthony S. Waters

I'm not really sure what to think about it. It's a Hill Giant/Giant Octopus... but the ability is restrictive. At least it can't be Last Gasped... probably worth slapping in a limited deck.

That's all for now but there'll be more!
Let the whining commence continue!

Limited cards are looking good but otherwise mostly filler. Nice to get closer to complete spoiler so thanks RE and thanks sources

Some of these are really sweet actually. Especially the RG 2/1 artifact destroyer. That will certainly have a spot in RG beats, in my opinion.

The bloodthirst life gainer is a lot better than it looks too. It's like a common Ravenous Baloth.

Some of that stuff is purely limited, but it is all rather interesting.
I like the 'flectomancer.
Some of these cards have some useful and interesting abilities.

Wheeeee I can almost taste it.

I like the
Gatherer of Graces
Creature - Human Druid (U)
Gatherer of Graces gets +1/+1 for each Aura attached to it.
Sacrifice an Aura: Regenerate Gatherer of Graces.
1/2
Illus. Heather Hudson

as well as the
Tin Street Hooligan -
Creature - Goblin Rogue (C)
When Tin Street Hooligan comes into play, if was spent to play Tin Street Hooligan, destroy target artifact.
2/1

Both pretty neat! A 2/1 Shatter is pretty powerful at GR. I like!
Other than that just limited crap. I love limited mind you, but still, i'd like the constructe scene to get SOMETHING other than crap. Even the solifuge has been rendered crap by 1 toughness. A 4 mana lightning bolt is bad i hear.

EDIT: I like the gristleback as well 3/3 for three that gains three life is pretty good for 2G.

That was pretty supercool.
Too bad Nodorog has three syllables. It could have been the new HUNDROOOOOOOOOG!
EDIT: Something you said confuses me, though. Can Tin-Street Hooligan block? You said it's a Jungle Lion, so did you leave off text by accident or is it just a 2/1 with the ability?

I'm sorry to whine, but none of them excite me well, actually, Living Inferno and Goblin Flectomancer are quite good... and I must admit that I love Aetherplasm

BUT, the overall set does seem to be weak. At the beginning I was thinking 'Oh, I won't worry, the good cards are still to come'. But as more cards roll in, everything seems overcosted.

Thanks for the information, even I was negative

Edit: Also let me just say that I don't play limited, only constructed.

wow they really are screwing Orzhov with the high casting costs. but on the plus i do like the mono-white thrull. Veridian Shamen was a 2/2 for 3... 4 for an extra shot of toughness isn't too bad.

also, Aetherplasm is very cool. my problem is by 4 mana you should already be establishing threats... and many blue decks don't run heavy creatures...

Tin Street Hooligan is pretty sweet. Almost always playable, and it's nice that you don't have to destroy your own artifact if your opponent doesn't have any. Solid all-around. Doesn't hurt that it comes down the same turn as Jitte.

Gatherer of Graces is interesting. A more limited Yavimaya Enchantress that can regenerate for 1 less. I suppose it's playable, but I'd usually rather have the Yavimaya Enchantress.

Goblin Flectomancer outright rocks. I'm gonna grab four of those as soon as possible. Awesome flavor, really fun card. Maybe not the most powerful card, but really, really Izzet. Excellent for multiplayer, too.

Petrahydrox should be a 4/4, I think, and Ogre Savant is just way overcosted. It seems the red/blue stuff is either really cool or really bad in Guildpact.

Nice to get cards at any rate. Keep it up, R_E.

I like the flavour on most of these cards especially 'crash landing'. Its always nice to see some beasts aswell. Theres nothing for constructed here though. I can't wait to find out what the Phoenix does. I'm sure theres still some gems to be discovered in this set.

Maybe this is Rosewater's new block design scheme that says that the middle block is the limited block. Nothing here interests me as a casual constructed p layer, except for maybe the plasm.

Goblin flectomancer: nice and flavorful ability! It had to be made in Izzet! But we expected it to be an instant / sorcery and not a creature!
For the rest... not much to say!! (see!! I'm not whining acting this way!!)
