If youve been playing EDH for a while now, you know that there are somethings that are just awful to play against. It ruins the entire game for everyone. There are so many ways to ruin the very well defined spirit of EDH, and i think it needs to be addressed.
These are the types of cards you should never, ever ever ever ever never never ever neverever evernever nevernever everever nevereverneverNEVER run in your decks:
1.) No Land Destruction:
Dont you hate it when you lose a land? I mean, you only get to play one a turn, and your curve starts at 8. Strip Mine, Wasteland, Stone Rain, Armageddon, Dust Bowl, Wild Fire, all are awful game ruining cards that should never be in a deck if you want people to have fun. I dont care if youre running a red/black deck in 1v1 (which isnt really even a way to play EDH, EDH is meant for large, 20 player free for all games) and are trying to keep up in tempo - destroying someones land isnt cool, brah.
2.) No Counterspells
Counterspells suck. As previously stated, your curve starts at 8, so youve waited all that time to play a spell only to have someone Force Spike it. What a jerk. I dont care if youre running Vendillion Clique in 1v1 (already discussed as a useless waste of time... 1v1 that is) or 3 counterspells, you should never run even 1. Theyre unfair and uncool.
3.) No Blue in general.
Blue sucks. Its not nice and it doesnt do anything with itself. Its all reaction, no action. If you want to fishbowl, go somewhere else. No bounce, no counterspell, no creature stealing, no magical hacking or moonlaceing. No drawing more cards. Its just unfun and unfair for other people. Didnt MTG get rid of pentagrams after revised anyways? that color pie should have four points, not five. A nice solid white, red, black, and green square. Thats the symbol for EDH!
4.) No Instants//Activated Abilities at Instant Speed
Instants are lame. You dont see them coming, and they lose you the game. Hatred is dumb and unfair. My turn is my turn, not your turn. Play spells during your own turn, dont be a biter always wanting to play. You dont get to move your pieces in chess on your opponents turn, so dont do stuff in MTG during my turn. Its not cool.
5.) No (X > 1) Wraths
its called wrath of god, youre allowed to use it. Thats the only wrath effect you can use. That means no damnation, no akroma's vengeance, no rout, nothing. Theyre lame, and if every one has 6 its a lame game. It took me forever to cast that Craw Wurm just for you to cast your third wrath effect.... Go ruin someone elses game, jerk.
6.) No 4 color decks.
Normally this would be "no 5 color decks" but if youre following this guide, you'll notice that blue is not an EDH color. 5 color decks never use their general (with one exception, which will be covered in rule 7) for any reason other than to go bonkers with 5 colors, never casting their general and just being obnoxious. 4 color deck players should be slapped.
7.) No sliver decks.
Slivers are lame. a 1/1 for 2 that gives everything including itself +1/+1? Thats just the crust of the lameness! Everything gives instant speed effects and busted mean stuff.
8.) No cards in your deck everyone doesnt own and have constant access to.
No Sol rings, mana vaults, dual lands, fetches, legends cards, or anything like that. You know, anything from before Coldsnap shouldnt be allowed. Nothing over 5 dollars in value in its worst condition.
9.) Nothing that makes me read the card.
If i dont know what it does, then its stupid, and the only reason youre playing it is because youre trying to be some elitist rules lawyer jerk.
11.) No Tutoring cards.
EDH is played in a singleton format for a reason - it brings you back to the main rule of MTG: Everything is supposed to be as close to random as possible. Honestly, if you could legally play EDH by just going into a card box, pulling out 100 cards at random and playing, it would be as pure as you could get. Also, as previously mentioned, they removed evil stuff after revised, so demonic tutor is even worse. If you want to pick what you want to draw, play Go Fish.

Im sure i will add more to this list, And feel free to post below if you know of any rules that should be followed. Please dont post things that arent completely serious and arent always 100% of the time annoying.
I know people that agree with all the above rules. I would like to add.
11) No creatures with abilites.
12) No tutoring or anything that lets you look through your deck. Magic is suppose to be 100% random chance.
12 is amazing, its the new 11. 11 is a bit iffy, as i think it is taken by 4, unless we're talking about triggered abilities, which more than likely fall under rule 9.

Hrm not sure. I think that you are forgetting that things like flying, trample, first strike wreck the game and ruin everyone's fun.
Okay even though I realize you are joking, this is STILL pointless. This forum is supposed to be about EDH discussions and this is just a rant. I personally feel that in multiplayer EDH, almost all cards are fine. I usually play around a 5-6 player free for all game, and if one player wants to play REALLY good cards and a really good deck, then it quickly becomes 5v1. If they still pull off a win, then great. Next game, they swap decks and we all have fun.
Another rule: No choosing someone to attack! Attacks must always be decided by random dice roll (and only if your opponents are rolling the dice!). Just because someone has gained life all game and is currently sitting pretty at 90 life, that doesn't mean this player is the correct target for your army of vanilla Wurms. Choosing someone to attack in EDH is ALWAYS PERSONAL.
None of these rules deny playing "10 life" effects. Well, "No Blue" bans magister sphinx, but then there's sorin markov left.
So I would add rule 12: No controling someone else's turn. This should get rid of all those mindslavers and Sorins.
I would add no artifact mana or ramping in general. It's not fair when someone gets their Craw Wurm on T3 while you're "legitimately" building up to play yours on T6.

I think they fall under rule number 9, aka reading cards is hard.
You guys forgot a HUGE one - no taking extra turns. It's really just another way of being a time hog. Keep to your own, NATURAL turns you douchebags. Infinite turns are of course, right out.
Mods have a right to party too, you know! Lucky for you guys that timezones mean it's afternoon on the 1st already here, I guess.
But yeah, I don't think I need to say much here. It's already been said. I'm pretty sure about half the posts in this thread are infractable, but I'm very tired...
