Isao is very cool, but I think totally overshadowed by that new Troll in Besieged...apart from using the Oathkeeper, he will just be a better Commander for this deck...But props to using him! Me likey!
Thrun is probably better objectively, but Isao is a green samurai; ain't too many of those.
For comparison, here is my Isao deck - I intend it for multiplayer and take a different approach to the Voltron theme, using, clearly, a lot of +1/+1 counters. (Although a Doubling Season would be appropriate for this deck, it's out of my budget at the moment.)
Deathmantle lets you pay 5 to give Isao +X/+X, as does the combo of Runed Stalactite and Takeno's Daisho (you just have to re-equip everything).
Invigorate is hilarious! I knew how it interacted with poison, but never thought about how it interacts with general damage too.
I'm a little confused by Words of Wilding. It seems like it only combos with Sylvan Library, and is pretty weak on its own.
Would you consider building a deck like this for multiplayer? Obviously cutting some of the giant growth effects for some things that can generate card advantage. I'd be interested to see how the deck changes.

Martyr of Spores seems pretty good. I'd even go so far as to add Nim Deathmantle and Runed Stalactite for martyr tricks. Deathmantle is even a way to protect Isao.
