"His crime was silence, and now he suffers it eternally."
When the mysterious Vanishing occurred on Mirrodin, all of the trolls who had once dwelled in the heart of the Tangle disappeared without trace. All that is, but one.
Thrun is the last of the trolls of Tel-Jilad. As such, he is one of the few remaining denizens of Mirrodin who remember the victory of Glissa Sunseeker over the metal tyrant Memnarch. By unknown means he became aware of the hidden Phyrexian threat long before they breached the gleaming surface of his metallic home.
He never spoke this knowledge to anyone, and now he must bear his regret forever.
Darksteel Colossus - I've always liked this card, but I rarely cast it. I usually have much more effective things to do with eleven mana!
Engulfing Slagwurm - I included this because it's Mirran and seemed strong. I have yet to cast it in a game.
Moldgraf Monstrosity - Cool card, will probably stay in until a few others are replaced, but is on my list for eventual consideration.
Paleoloth - The concentration of 5+ powered creatures in this deck is a little low to get full value from this guy. Does work well sometimes though, so will likely stay in for the time being.
- Lesser Creatures -
Ondu Giant - I would like to get better value from something else in this slot.
- Equipment/Auras -
Darksteel Axe - This is really just a place-holder because I didn't have anything else I wanted to put in this slot. Will be the first equipment to be replaced if and when something better is printed.
- Power Spells -
Increasing Savagery - A strong spell, but something better is bound to come along. I often find casting this encourages my opponents to respond with a sweeper...
- Acceleration Spells -
Collective Voyage - This spell always speeds games up, but I often find it assists my opponents more that it assists myself. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
Ranger's Path - I'd like to replace this with something that can be cast on turn two to assist me in casting Thrun on turn three. Will be replaced as soon as possible.
- Minor Spells -
Blessings of Nature - Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Often results in a sweep by an opponent. Something better could fill this spot.
Evolution Charm - Versatile, but could probably be better. Will stay in until I need this slot for something else.
- Utility and Mana Artifacts -
Quicksilver Amulet - I've never cast this in a game. Strongly considering replacement with Oblivion Stone to provide a sweeper that this deck is otherwise very short on.
Dreamstone Hedron - I like this card, but it doesn't do much by the time I want to cast it. This slot could be better filled by a cheaper mana-rock.
- Non-Basic Lands -
Oran-Rief, the Vastwood - I almost never end up getting any value from this. If I play it before I cast Thrun I just use it for mana, so it ultimately amounts to a lost land drop.
Terrain Generator - I am not sure about the effectiveness of this one. I'll be keeping an eye on it too.
It's a great card. Sadly, it's also Phyrexian, so I'd prefer not to play it with Thrun... I guess that may sound crazy, but flavour is highly important to me when I duild decks.
As such, I'd prefer to only use cards with the Mirran watermark or no watermark at all.
Also, why no Regrowth or Restock over Recollect and Nature's Spiral?
Regrowth is definately an option if I can get hold of a Judge Promo copy.
For aesthetic reasons I prefer to use cards that are foil and with the 8th Edition frame, so Restock simply isn't an option until it's printed as a promo.
These are both really good. In fact, they were both included in earlier versions of the list. The slagwurm may find its way back in if I can find something to cut, but the ascetic probably wont. Thrun is supposed to be the "Last Troll" afterall!
Hallowed Burial is indeed going to be my biggest bane... I'm thinking about using Summoner's Pact as an alternative to the zenith. Possibly also Chord of Calling if I can get hold of one!

Perhaps not all of them, but a few of these can be good.
Also consider a land that sacrifices your creature, like High Market. You can dodge Hallowed Burial like this. Fortunately the combination of Troll Shroud and Uncounterability makes you immune to any other tuck effect, but Burial can still get you.

Would you consider switching Palladium Myr for Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary? I think it is a better ramp spell since you are mono green... Also maybe Kamahl, Fist of Krosa as a backup plans and as a deterent against wrath affects... Umbral Mantle could also be good so that you can have a blocker back against agro decks... Mantle, Roffelos and Kamahl is also a combo win... Infinite Huge Tramply dudes just sounds so right
Mind's Eye is a must for mono-green! Squeeze one in! And you also have friendly draw stuff like Temple Bell and Mikokoro, Center of the Sea, though I'm not sure how your playgroup is and how much they would benefit from such things.
sword of the paruns, sword/shield/helm of kaldra, and worldslayer seem good for a thruntron deck... thinking about this deck mehself... this or glissa rock....

If Rofellos or Kamahl become available in foil I'll certainly consider them.
I actually have foils of these cards... I'm not sure about adding them though. Sword of the Paruns seems somewhat mediocre and I have no way to tutor for the three kaldra pieces... I may add the Sword of the Paruns just to see if it works out.

its pretty good if you give your general vigilance. But that only works if you use other creatures... lulz... I know some people hate on worldslayer, but I love it with an indestructible general with tons of indestructible toys.

The deck it intended to convey a "Mirran" flavour, with indestructibility being a recuring theme (Darksteel Colossus, Spearbreaker Behemoth, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, Darksteel Axe and Darksteel Plate) as well as a "Pseudo-Black" theme (Nim Deathmantle and Sword of Feast and Famine).
For aesthetic reasons I intend to use only foil cards available with the 8th edition card frame.

All of these are good options. If I can get foil copies and figure something to cut then they'll probably find their way in.
I do like these. I shall find room for them!
These ones are less useful with Thrun. Giving him full Shroud when he already has half Shroud seems somewhat counter productive...
And the livewire lash wouldn't be nearly as useful since opponents can't target him.
These are both really good. In fact, they were both included in earlier versions of the list. The slagwurm may find its way back in if I can find something to cut, but the ascetic probably wont. Thrun is supposed to be the "Last Troll" afterall!
If I can get a foil top it will be going straight in.
And if I could get foils of the other two...
When your friends cast Hallowed Burial, you'll regret not running it.

Other options are Primal Command or Time of Need.
Also consider:
Defense of the Heart
Worldly Tutor
Fauna Shaman
Survival of the Fittest
Fierce Empath (doesn't find thrun, but can find others)
Hibernation's End
Natural Order
Primal Command
Protean Hulk
Sylvan Tutor
Time of Need
Weird Harvest
Wild Pair
Perhaps not all of them, but a few of these can be good.

I'm also strongly considering putting Plated Slagwurm back in. I'd have to take out Gigantomancer, Liege of the Tangle or Roughshod Mentor.
I'm not sure which to cut!
If it weren't banned it'd be a shoe in!
I like this one a lot! Stirs up the game a bit! I'll have to find room...
Hmmm, this would be great if I could get a foil one in the 8th Ed frame... Are there any other good lands that let you sac?
...you're a monster. Mercadian Masques foils rock (as I'm currently working on a collection of them), and the new frame is atrocious.
Miren, the Moaning Well and Diamond Valley

You may be right about that!
I prefer the new frames... But I may be a minority! Probably because I started with Mirrodin block (1.0).
Ah yes, I was trying to remember Miren. I think it may need to go in.
Cheers! It's good to know I'm not the only one!

I did have Berserk in an earlier list. I decided to cut it since it kills Thrun after combat.
