Ok so my Wife wanted me to make a deck for her to use in EDH. I have built her one or two before but they just didn't manage to stand up to snuff. My wife isnt a real in depth magic player so I wanted to make something that would be fairly straightforward to play and not take a whole lot of tutoring and or strategizing to perform with.
She really seems to like some of the white generals so I suggested she try Akroma which she loves as a general. It will come in very useful vs some decks like Scion of the ur dragon that we play agains all too often.
Here is sort of what I have so far as a proposed decklist. Its a bit rough yet and I will try fixing it up yet. I am trying to run a low # of mana stones in this deck as I wanted to put a high emphasis on blowing up my opponents mana stones with it.
Thanks for all the help making cuts guys. I would love to have some discussion as to what might improve the deck. I really like how it has shaped up and appreciate all the help I have received getting it this far. Feel free to discuss cards on the list and cards that did not make the list.
I'd say probably the first things to cut would be the face-beaty Angels with no real utility effects other than lifelink - Adarkar Valk, Baneslayer, Battlegrace, Exalted, etc.

Ok I cut 2 more of the angels. If I end up cutting Serra Ascendant then the Ranger of Eos needs to go also. I currently only have 2 targets for him between the ascendant and the wayfarer as is.
Also updated the equipment. Yes that was supposed to be a helm not shield thanks.
Should I cut Deathless Angel out since I have no mana stones to really make it viable to drop and be able to use it???
Also I have to wonder how useful Decree of Justice and White Sun's Zenith are without the mana stones... they should probably be taken into consideration as well.
Ranger of Eos - only 2 targets being Serra's Ascendant and Weathered Wayfarer. Personally I would love to get one more one drop in here to make him more worthwhile. I might test him for now I wasnt sure but in mono W you gota take card advantage where you can get it. Battlegrace Angel - already out
Taj-nar - I was hoping to get a few guys for tutoring equipment. Ideally this should probably end up being a Enlightened Tutor but I don't have one yet. I suppose that can be on my upgrade list though. exalted angel - already gone Purity - already gone Kor Cartographer I like how it actually gives me a land into play. Yes its a bit weak but there is always the chance to rez it for a second ramp... I know it sux ghostly prison - I mainly put it in for those token decks. I suppose thats what wraths are for though. I'll cut it.
Ohhh also I cut Deathless Angel out as I dont think I would be able to make much use of it without mana stones.
I'd go for mom if you want another target for Eos. I'd probably leave Decree in, because scalable (mostly) uncounterable instant speed token production that replaces itself is nice, even when you can't make it huge.
Survival Cache seems like it would be underwhelming and kind of a toss up as to whether or not you draw with it.

Kor Cartographer I like how it actually gives me a land into play. Yes its a bit weak but there is always the chance to rez it for a second ramp... I know it sux
I'd keep it in. Ramp in white is great, plus it's sort of card advantage, especially with recursion.
Ranger of Eos - only 2 targets being Serra's Ascendant and Weathered Wayfarer. Personally I would love to get one more one drop in here to make him more worthwhile. I might test him for now I wasnt sure but in mono W you gota take card advantage where you can get it.
I'd cut the Ranger and Ascendant. Only thing Ascendant does is bring a ton of hate if you get it out early, getting one mana creatures really isn't all that great. Only one worth getting is Wayfarer. Mom is nice but useless here since she doesn't have much to protect before she dies to sweepers, Martyr of Sands just... gains a bunch of life. Really not worth it.
Cut. I love Decree of Justice but it's just not that great in EDH.
Does anyone think a Wayfarer's Bauble would be good in here??? What to take out for it if it goes in?
Yes. Any white ramp is good. It usually shouldn't hurt your Weathered Wayfarer/Gift of Estates/Tithe/Land Tax at all because anyone else playing green will have way more ramp than you regardless. On that note, you should run Tithe and Land Tax. They're both better than Gift of Estates.
Infinite mana and Evangelize are great. but this is just part of my combo deck lol

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I find the Judgment useful on ocasion as we have a Uril, the Miststalker player who finds it funny to go indestructable... I also have a Teysa, Orzhov Scion player that always manages to have a handful of creatures post wrath.
I could cut the judgment but it seems like a lifesaver at times.
I think I might end up cutting Taj-Nar Swordsmith instead. My only concern being I am cutting down to very few equipment tutors. It is hard to ascemble a 3 piece equipment package with only 2 fetches to hit it with.
There is a good chance that the sword and helm of Kaldra could probably go as well once I cut him.
If I do this I then have a few slots open. Any ideas for things to add back? I feel like I could possibly use a few single target artifact / enchant hate. Perhaps a disenchant? I have 2 open slots now.
EDIT: I could possibly see a Purify and or All is Dust if I want a few more artifact / enchantment sweepers. Or I could add a Breath of Life for more rez. Or perhaps a Relic of Progenitus to hate on graveyards.
EDIT 2: I added Hall of the Bandit Lord to the list and removed a plains for it. I figure there are a few utility guys that would be useful to come out swinging.
I disagree with cutting Kor Cartographer. Ramp is king in EDH, if a deck has the ability to ramp, they should use it. No need for shenanegans, but it's still useful with Valkyrie, Reveillark, and Emeria.
I agree with keeping Final Judgment in. It stops so many shenanegans that it's a must, along with Hallowed Burial. I even run them over Wrath in most of my decks now for this very reason.
I'd also find room for Mangara of Corondor. He is such good utility, and he's amazing as a rattlesnake to ward other people off. Plus, he's extremely abusable with any sort of sac outlet, bounce, flicker, or untap effect. Personally I've never been a fan of O-Ring in EDH considering all the sweepers people run, so that would be a good replaecment.
I would definitely fit in Relic or Phyrexian Furnace if you could. Relic hurts your own graveyard though so Furnace might be better here, but I think it's important to stop grave shenanegans because everyone runs it. Furnace never hurts you either since it cycles at the very least. Stonecloaker is great but I've never felt it was enough especially without any ability to tutor for it.
Ok I added Mangara of Corondor. I think you are right on the O ring. I plan on blowing up artifacts and enchantments a lot myself so its actually problematic in the fact that it would give them back something that was an issue for me before.
While I think you are right in the fact that a lot of times the Phyrexian Furnace will do the job just fine, I run into a few issues with some decks that do mass rez and or run a general like Sharrum where if there is anything left in a gy I still have a problem. I went with Relic of Progenitus because sometimes it just all needs to go and I would rather have the option to hit everything.
Thanks for the input. That puts me 1 card short yet.
EDIT: So I was sort of thinking some sort of stall card for the last one. I am a bit in between on Humility and Hokori, Dust Drinker. I am leaning more towards Humility for the final card as it seems amazing at locking people out of using combos and just stalling for me. Out of curosity with Humility in play do enter the battlefield abilities still go off?
No, ETB abilities don't go off with Humility. However, Humility and Hokori do such a thorough job of locking people out that I wouldn't recommend running them unless your playgroup is extremely competitive. Not to mention, the extreme amount of hate they would draw.
My favorite tech to run in mono-white is Goblin Charbelcher. Not only does it allow you to finish off someone at low life and kills planeswalkers, something mono-white has trouble doing, but it has some nifty combos with Endless Horizons, Scroll Rack and even Top to ensure it gets some points of damage in. I wouldn't recommend removing all your plains with Horizons, but even by removing 10 or so it allows the Belcher to do more damage on average.
Other options I'd recommend - Seht's Tiger. He's a lot better than people think. He makes you immune to a lot of dangerous stuff, like Mind Twist, Sorin Markov, Comet Storm, etc. and in a pinch saves you from attacks. More importantly, it shores up some of monowhite's biggest weaknesses.
Leyline of Sanctity. Similar to Seht's Tiger but slightly more narrow in application, though it sticks around.
Lapse of Certainty. Yes, one of the white counterspells. But one thing I've found out from mono-white is it pretty much scoops if someone resolves an Insurrection, Warp World, Genesis Wave, or other big spell. Lapse isn't a permanent counter, but it gives you a turn to find an answer. And if that player was going to win from that big spell, it gives everyone else a turn to finish that person off. It can swing a losing position heavily in your favor.
Abeyance. Similar to Lapse in that it gives you a turn when used correctly. A lot more narrow though but at least it cantrips.
Yeah, so a lot of these provide similar functions. But I love them because they can fix a lot of weaknesses you'd have otherwise in mono-white by giving you an out to game changing, resolved spells that you'd otherwise scoop to.
hummm. Ok lot to address. I can see how Humility and Hokori, Dust Drinker might bring some hate down on me. I was more thinking of them for the upcoming tourney we are doing where we are forcing attack left thus I would be protected from everyone swinging at me at once. But yes overall it might not be a great call. Goblin Charbelcher does indeed sound like fun. It has some synergy with what is already in the deck which I like a lot. Seht's Tiger I like slightly more than the leyline as I am going to be wrathing artifacts and enchantments a lot with this deck. It has some interesting mechanics to it and can easily be used as a fog of sorts. Lapse of Certainty could be fun but I am hoping to stop a lot of the crazy shinanigan combos by wrathing and or using instant speed removal to take combos apart. I dont like how it doesnt really actually solve the problem as much as delaying it. It could be good but as a one of I have a feeling I would sit behind it for a long time trying to use it right. Debt of Loyalty is cool but most of my wrathing and kill does not allow for regen.
I think when it comes down to it my last card will probably lie between Goblin Charbelcher and Seht's Tiger. I am trying idealy to last until end game so I can bust my general out and bust some faces with her. The charbelcher will probably make me out to be a target early on whereas the tiger is more of a reactive protection which I really like. I think I will probably go for the tiger for now. I wish I had a few more bounce cards to take more advantage of it but such is as it is.
Thanks for all the help cutting the deck to count everyone! If anyone has any more suggestions or comments to add I would love to hear them. I am up for discussion as to if a specific card is not up to par and or if something would make a good replacement for something.
EDIT: how does everyone feel about Iona, Shield of Emeria??? She is very very slow as well as being a huge target that will only hinder a portion of the table. I havent ever really pulled her off in an amazing way and she is very slow for the deck. I sort of feel like the Goblin Charbelcher might have more synergy and use than she would.
If Iona isn't working out then take her out. Besides, playing her tends to paint you as a target.
BTW, Prison Term is strictly better than Arrest for mono-white. Well actually I'd advocate running Prison Term over Arrest in any deck, not just mono-white, but anyway.... I also prefer Wing Shards over Path to Exile, Wing Shards can really hurt some decks, and Path's drawback is actually relevant in EDH.

Doh. I thought I had prison term on the list. I have it in the deck currently which is just waiting for all my ebay items to be filled in. I got some really good steals for the deck where it felt like I was getting things half priced.
As for Wing Shards. I like and yet dislike the card. I would rather have Path as I only use it in an emergency, IE hey look at my indestructable eldrazi... ☺☺☺☺. or sombody combos out. Wing Shards does not work in this area. Also I think it will be useful as a responsive kill of one of my utility creatures in order to pull a land out into play for one mana. Seems win to me. Very rarely will it matter if I manage to get 2-3 creatures off the storm as I plan on wrathing often enough for an opponent to only have 1-2 good targets on the board.
I think I will leave Iona in there for a little bit as I already have her and I would need to buy a replacement. If it continues to under preform I will cut her.
EDIT: I have a strong feeling that I need to make room in the deck for Sensei's Divining Top. The fact that whenever I need to wrath artifacts I just tap and draw into it next is very good defense for it. It might go in Iona's place.
Wing Shards is a sacrifice. Indestructibility would not save eldrazi from Wing Shards. Personal opinion I guess, I never liked Path for EDH.
Top is always very strong in mono-white since there are so many shuffle effects to abuse it.
It is ture that they have to sacrifice it but its too late to not get hit by annihilate 4
I would rather give them a land than loose 4 permanents. Plus its more of an emergency sort of move. I wouldn't just toss it at a general as that seems less than productive. I like how its instant speed and only takes one mana. It really keeps up the options to disrupt the board when needed and helps stop combos in the middle of them executing.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
Not trying to necro this up or anything but I finally got all of the cards in for this deck. We ended up playing a 6 player game that was very interesting in the fact that our Mayael the Anima player hit a turn 3 Primeval Titan and he went second in turns >_< He managed to swing up to 10 mana by turn 4 but got wooped first by our Chainer, Dementia Master player who managed to swing in with a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth on turn 5 or 6 bringing him back down. Chainer, Dementia Master managed to off 2 opponents behind me in our attack left game.
I managed to execute a Yosei lockdown on chainer using Yosei, the Morning Star, World Queller, and Emeria, the Sky Ruin and plow through the last 3 of them with little effort thanks to Emeria being online for the last half of the game. It was a great game and I came in first. It is a blast to play. I need to add a bit more land destruction lands as well as probably adding Miren, the Moaning Well for a second sac outlet for yosei in case I need to do a loc again.
EDIT: I updated the decklist based on the game I played with it. My opponent managed a 2x Cabal Coffers due to stealing a primeval titan into coffers + vasuva which was a total nightmare. Also added Miren, the Moaning Well based on the cool yosei lock I managed.
I see you have alot of slots dedicated to a hate theme as opposed to protection which is cool, but it occurs to me that Story Circle could be very useful in mono-white. I don't see it in many builds though for some reason. Maybe too niche for some players, but I think it could it be great against EDH decks which tend to have huge beaters - particularily against the popularity of creatures with trample, lifelink, are unblockable, or have an ability triggered by doing combat damage..
I do like Story Circle but I just find it to be very narrow in use. EDH is a FFA environment and generally unless you somehow manage to run into a game where most of the players are playing mono one color I dont see this helping all that much. On top of that I plan on wrathing a lot of artifact / enchantments a lot of times. This means that the artifacts and enchantments that I do play need to be productive for a short period of time before expecting to be wiped out.
I like the card but feel like you have to wait for a specific threat to hit the board then it just protects you from that threat for a bit. I like just removing the threat when possible.
I like it and yet I dont due to the ffa environment. It can be cool though.

Ghostway or Second Sunrise to control other player's wraths. Also, Instead of Story Circle, try Runed Halo to control specific threats (such as Nivmizzet)

My Trade Thread

I like the card but feel like you have to wait for a specific threat to hit the board then it just protects you from that threat for a bit. I like just removing the threat when possible.
I like it and yet I dont due to the ffa environment. It can be cool though.
